Nope it'll be great. They'll want to push their constituents interests as much as possible but they have nothing to lose and no long-term prospect of staying there.

    Where's my popcorn? :D

Why do you wish harm to your England based family and friends.

Nicola, single handedly, won it for the Tories.

Well if it makes you feel better then good for you.

As they'll both be spending the next 5 years in equal amounts of impotent rage. ;)

    Not sure about that...;)

    Oh I am....

FFA is a carefully laid trap for the SNP as it inevitably will eventually involve slashing spending and exposing their lies in the Indyref...

If they take it then they are dead in Scotland for a generation.

If they refuse it, then they are dead for even longer.

    Bring it on....:D

Stuck with an SNP MP, and the Tories desperate to get rid of you so they can concentrate on a somewhat more appreciative electorate ...that's a pretty crappy smug thing for someone like you. But whatever floats your boat.

I don't think the Tories, or their policies will be figuring much in your life anymore Hamish. Because if they do.. then Scotland will be out soon anyway. Labour, dire economic reports from the ( admittedly partial ) UK Treasury and the full weight of every media outlet in the UK.. were the only thing between Scotland and independence last Sept.

Next time round, there will be no Labour, no economic reports, 12 bn of welfare cuts, tax credits and child benefit, an in out EU referendum, Trident renewal with no Scottish MP's voting for it back to the Clyde.. and the UK media will be positively encouraging ! But, everyone will bide their time I daresay...

I'm feeling particularly smug tonight.. ;)

They won't take it, they'll go for full independence instead when they think they'll win it. FFA may be too messy, and only phased in gradually over years.. The Tories will booger up long before that. It's only taken 6 weeks of an anti-SNP/Scots Tory election campaign, with a bit of help from Labour getting caught up in it.. to ensure over 50% of the Scottish vote for the SNP, and to go from 6 seats to 56 ! Good going solidifying the SNP vote to that extent ! It's been record breaking stuff.

There was someone on the news tonight saying the 'Smith commission proposals may cause problems due to Tory back benchers voting it down' and then there's the House of Lords... Yes, the Tories should keep going doing just what they are...

They definitely want shot of Scotland, and the SNP asap by the sounds of it. But I think the SNP will hang about in Westminster for a bit. Just to confirm 100% that the Tories don't give a toss about Scotland beyond all doubt first. ;)

Weird then that Cameron pulled it off the referendum options, eh?

He'd have kept Trident, the UK seat on the Security council, no Barnett Formula to bankrupt the rUK's precariously fragile economy, passport-free travel around the British Isles (no need for expensive Theresa May-style borderposts/watchtowers), a chunk of license-fee money spent in TV studios south of the Tweed, the research output of one the world's top three most per-capita scientifically productive nations.

And no awkward audience with the Queen trying to explain how he'd lost her other kingdom.

Oh and just to make the point, the Tories got an extra 20,000 votes in Scotland this time than last with a very small reduction in share of vote.

It'll be interesting to see how the SNP square the 'historic victory' with the circle of 'a complete lack of power'. They'll be as relevant in Westminster as the SDP was during the Thatcher era.
