Absolutely correct Shakes. Weve had to suck up the last 5 years of conservative government even though Scotland only elected 1 Tory.

Now the shoe is on the other foot and non SNP are outraged. Even if 59 SNP MP's go to Westminster ( most unlikely) how could they overrule 600 UK wide MP's? Why the hysterics over this? If Scotland votes SNP and they are ostracised it will be totally undemocratic. Where does that situation leave the union?

The Scots are marginalising themselves by voting parochially for the SNP.

Whilst the concept of delegitimising or legitimising is simply absurd party politics nevertheless the SNP could easily come into the democratic fold by:-

: agreeing they will not actively pursue a new referendum for a generation

: declare they will act on behalf of all the people of the UK and not narrow sectarian self interest.

: immediately refuse the excessive unfair Barnett surplus

: immediate declare they would not vote on any English matters were they have devolved powers in Scotland

in a nutshell they could behave in a fair minded, decent way and use their influence for the common good of all the UK

What is it you are not getting about the fact that many of us like the SNP? What you are trying to do is tell a nation who they should vote for. Who is acceptable to vote for. Is that democratic?

Do you feel the same about Plaid or is it simply because it looks like SNP may send a large contingent and possibly have some influence that you are up in arms?

Well lets get it right, Scotland is not a real nation until votes to leave the confederation of nations it`s a rather junior partner in. Until then, like every other region of the UK it has to put up with the majority viewpoint. Scotland like Ulster is choosing to become parochial in its politics, you can`t blame mainstream UK politicians if they choose to not pander to an electorate that is wilfully distancing itself.

When you say 'junior' what do you mean by that ? Population wise, or in status ? Because we were being told 8 months ago we were 'equal' partners in the union. Should there have been a few 'qualifiers' in there that we weren't told about ?
It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

What on earth is a real nation?

Last year we were told we were an equal partner but obviously we aren't. We were also told to stay and 'lead' the UK. So, we did stay but because we appear to be turning against the big 2 parties we shall be ostracised. That sounds a bit dictatorial to me. So we have to accept the majority but when we choose a majority to represent us we could be frozen out? It reeks and I'm not alone in feeling that.

The people in the north region of the UK comprise 5 million people out of 65 million of the UK

In what way do you expect 5 million to be 'equal' to the other 60 million?

They should have exactly the same rights and responsibilities as every one else.

They should also have the same money allocated to them as everyone else.

As they have their own parliament, their MPs shouldn't vote on any English matter that are devolve to their own parliament.

    Just simple fairness and justice.

In this instance a geographical area within the UK with the self confidence to vote for independence.

It's not my words saying we are equal, it's the party leaders last year telling us to stay in the union as an equal partner. They lied. Does that sit well with you?

Is it fair & just if Scotland sends a majority of SNP MP's to Westminster that they are frozen out?

Is it fair & proper that scots MP's in Westminster should abstain from voting even if the issue has a direct impact on issues in Scotland?

You keep going over and over the same thing. It is tiresome. I'm happy to debate it if and when it is actually on the table. Until then I'll say to you again you should lobby your MP & government about issues that concern you and let your voice be heard.
