Mmhhhh not sure that I really believe him on that, it'll be interesting to see what happens next Friday :D

Milliband has had to distance himself. Too many differences of view to have a workable coalition with the SNP. While they may hold many seats the SNP is not representative of broader public opinion.

They won't be leading, they will be a small part of it. 40 or so MP's out of 650. Why do UKIP have MEP's ? <---- in order to have some measure of influence in a union protecting British interests, even if they no longer want to be part of it.

So by that token, UKIP are an illogical party ?

I'm not sure what you mean by an illogical party but then I don't think that you do either.

Certainly it would be illogical to have them the EU Cabinet if there was one.

Wow Milliband just said he would rather have the Tories than deal with the SNP, he will categorically not deal with the SNP... WOW

A Unionist would rather vote with a Unionist than a separatist Nationalist. Not WOW.

These type of statements really only prove you have no idea about what is going on up here.... seriously you have not got a clue ... and I would like to imagine that many other people over the UK would be thinking Ed would side with David ... and shudder

it would seem that Scotland gets two votes whilst the people of Yorkshire get only one as they can only vote on English matters whilst the English can't vote on in scotland

Scotland get more money that Yorkshire to spend as they like
    Yorkshire gets less than scotland

Scotland may well vote for a single party state like Putin's Russia but that will be their choice.

So Scottish people have more voting right and more money but the people of Yorkshire but their low self esteem, the dependence on the handout culture, their lack of perspective, their nationalistic dislike on their near neighbours, their lack of sense of fairness and any regard for social equality somehow persuades them they have no democracy.

Your opinions show you have no idea what is going on in much/most of Scotland.

First past the post may well skew the results of seats, but a majority of eligible voters in this country will not be voting for the SNP.

The silent majority voted No in the referendum, and will not vote for the SNP this time around either.

The problem is their vote is split among three other parties... In this electoral cycle anyway.

But with time an effective opposition that represents the majority will be found. :)

A coalition was ruled out months ago. I have no idea what you are bumping your gums about to be honest. Have you really been under the impression for the last few months that the SNP are looking for a coalition with Labour as part of govt, and vice versa ? With the SNP in cabinet posts ? Seriously ?

If that really is the case, you've got some serious catching up to do. I wouldn't post much more on this topic..I think you might be sadly far too out of touch with what's going on.

I'm beginning to think that some on this thread just skim through without reading much of it.. in order to agree with whatever Hamish posts up.. ;)
It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

Hamish, get real, this happens in every election. There is nothing different in terms of the system used compared to 2010. If SNP get 45% then that's all they need. Better than Labour and Tories elsewhere barely hitting 35% between them anyway. Tories and Lib Dems 'tactical voting'.. well.. if that's what makes them feel good. The reality is that it's Labour voters that are jumping ship... in absolute droves. That's what's making the difference.

I don't think Ed Miliband particularly helped matters tonight for Scottish Labour either !

ps spare us the graphics. SNP members paid for the copter. Gladly too.. The more places she gets to in order to campaign the better in the next few days. Worked wonderfully well for Salmond in 2011 too if you remember ?... That silent majority never did appear back to bail out Labour back then. Still.. keep your fingers crossed eh. :)
