A Conservative government would review Scottish devolution to ensure the rest of the UK will not "lose out", he said.

At bleeding last. Thinly veiled threat to change the Barnett formula. And he can now do it because he said he would before the election.
Its a vote winner and a game changer for Dave IMHO. Nothing to lose in Scotland......promise to spend the £7bn a year saving on NHS education across swathes of England and he's home and dry.

He faces a conundrum I think.

We all know that further cuts are coming. Tens of billions, not just exactly insignificant.

Some of those cuts will have to fall on Scotland, just like Yorkshire will have to take their share, the Midlands theirs etc etc.

However, these Scottish cuts could easily be reworked into an anti Scottish agenda by political opponents.

I think the £7bn additional subsidy will remain, despite any tough words.

I think that comment is all that is wrong with British politics.

    Quite sad, really.

You obviously prefer bloated men, dull, greying middle-aged men. Perhaps you see them as a more successful version of yourself?

I knew there were a few like you around here. You all like to stick together, eh?

Sturgeon is a funny looking woman IMO, just as in your opinion Ukippers are a bit weird also. Why the sensitivity?

Surely if Cameron were to act in Tory self interest he would have encouraged Scotland to become independent? This would have weakened his main opposition party, Labour, significantly.

Perhaps he really does believe in the Union. He certainly believes Scotland is worth investing in during years of low oil revenue. This is worth billions as Hamish points out.
Nope the golden rule of the tory party is to keep the union that is why they are officially called the 'Conservative and Unionist Party'. If they had lost that referendum Cameron would have resigned. He does believe in it. The problem is that belief is subsumed by narrow party political interest.

in what way is the belief in the union being subsumed by narrow party political interest : indeed whatever does that mean?

I just think idea of some sweaty, swollen middle-aged man sitting on his computer insulting women in a cringeworthy manner isn't a particularly pleasant thing to have to consider.

In other words, now you are quite keen to keep the £7bn a year subsidy from the rUK taxpayers, that you used to claim didn't exist.

    :)
Yes - that is clearly the plan - drag the whole thing out and put the subsidy in the Bank year by year, screaming all the time that it's only needed because they don't have their magic powers.. As I understand it, though, the new powers that will come Scotland's way will increase the money raising ability in Scotland, increase the responsibility of the Scottish Government and its ability to run things in a Scottish way but at the same time reduce the subsidy amount while at the same time leaving things best done by reserved powers as reserved. ... Seems OK to me. After all it is not FFA or SFA, there is a middle path.

I see that Sturgeon has stated she will "represent UK interests". I don't believe a word of it. She is not going to be an MP so she can mind her own business. Talk about trying to pull strings from afar. She represents only the SNP in Scotland.
