Are you not surprised that the number is not closer to 80% or 90%?
Your media rabidly portrays the SNP as dictators, coming to London to steal your women and drink your beer. It appears the English aren't really buying that.0 -

It's now almost impossible to bring down a government ( Labour haven't fully woken up to this yet, nor the press ). There will have to be compromises 'here and there'. Refusing absolutely everything the SNP suggests..
Anyway - Sturgeon should keep on blathering, it will only help to damage Labour.Union, not Disunion

HS2 is a long term project with significant Capital Expenditure up front.
Why would Scotland want to commit to up front costs when Scotland could be independent before the rest of the link was developed ?(upgrading the terminus is a key requirement)
I'm no HS2 fan, but if it does happen I want it to have every chance of paying for itself. That will require significant usage on the wealthiest routes, and for the foreseeable that means travel in and out of London.0 -
I wonder what part she expects to play, not being an MP.
I can imagine edicts coming from SNP Headquarters in Scotland with the Westminster NP MPs having no freedom to do anything but quote from SNP pamphlets. That will play well.
They already have - the SNP have changed their standing orders so that "no member shall within or outwith the parliament publicly criticise a group decision, policy or another member of the group".
No freedom at all.

I reckon through time the brain drain will stop for us and maybe start south of the border, maybe best to get free tuition fee's sorted for your youth fast
Record numbers of English disadvantaged 'yute' going to Uni apparently. When the Barnett 'free money' balloon goes up perhaps a progressive graduate tax might be a way forward for you guys too?
Your fine Universities might need it.
Just a thought.“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0 -

Not really. UKIP are polling about 12% but get 50% "not bothered if in government" rating in the graphic you posted. 59% of people don't want the SNP involved and 41% don't object to them being involved. All this demonstrates is that a clear majority of people don't want them in government but in general people aren't particularly scared on them.
Perhaps they understand that - as the lib dems have shown in this govt - being the junior party in government means you have pretty limited influence over policy.0 -

I am not a SNP member so I cant pretend to talk for them, but I would imagine ( if it were me) that the reason that has been passed is more to do with the fact the SNP have gained a fair few new members recently and the SNP need to know that these people really have the parties best interests at heart, remember there was a SNP troll the other week that got kicked out, it has to be that way for a while, but I can only assume it wont be forever, If I was a member of the SNP I certainly wouldnt accept that forever, only for a short while, kinda like the women only candidates idea they went for as well.
Things are changing fast politically up here and there needs to be some rules till it settles down... so that we can grow into being the country we want to be0 -

Thanks for the explanation, elantan. Do you think it's OK for gagging rules such as this to exist for the protection of the SNP whilst new members get used to the totalitarian regime they've signed up to even though this particular rule has only just been introduced and ratified? So many would have signed up pre-gagging order but are now bound by it?
