If all of Scotland votes Labour, but most of England votes Conservative then it's Conservative ( as has happened more than a few times ).
If most of Scotland do not vote Labour or Tory, it still doesn't make any difference to the above two scenarios.
We've had sizeable chunks of Labour MP's in the 'ruling' party also on more than a few occasions. They vote in policies and laws via their UK party designed to keep a few south of England marginals happy and the occasional newspaper. Things that aren't always in Scotland's best interests, nor represent what their constituents want or their views.
Which in essence is why Scottish Labour has been in steep decline since 2010. The referendum just accelerated it. Time for a change now. And like I said, Westminster isn't the be and end all.
So in answer to your question, it would seem for a lot of Scots, that it's to be principles this time round. And lots of us don't care in the slightest who gets in this time round in Westminster either, to be absolutely honest.( if that were the case, Labour would have rebounded very strongly in the Scottish polls long before now surely ?. Still time to change though ).
The peoples all over the UK differ in their political views.
There is as much (or as little) difference between the NE and London or SW as there is between Glascow and London.
Your obsession with the issue of 'Scotland' voting for something that differs from what the whole of the UK votes for, is no different from whether Glascow votes different from the Isles.
Except of cause to a person who is obsessed with the racial/nationalistic distinctions rather than looking at the people as individual members of the UK.
Scotland doesn't have a 'best' interest; different parts of the northern land mass have different interests just like peoples everywhere.0 -

And saying so very loudly, completely neuters Scottish Labour's claims of 'Vote SNP, get Tory'.. Has been a good campaign tactic you have to admit. And it's not like it would ever stop the Tories getting in if enough in England/Wales vote for them anyway.
I'd leave the amateur psychology at home next time though.
A twisted rationale does not excuse the hypocrisy. The Tories could also say, but don't because it's a silly argument you have invented, that they would not ally with the SNP for the reason that the SNP don't do very well in England.
Re the latter part of your post, what I wrote was based on what you wrote and simplistic deflections will not change that, however you twist and turn.

would we have insisted on austerity the way the Germans are now able to tell the Greeks what to do?
The Greeks have a fall back position possibly. In that Russia may provide the funding required to keep Greece afloat. It's not as clear cut as it may seem.
Mind you how far to the left are the SNP?0 -
Havnt seen the debate yet but from what i gather Nicola did really well ?0

I am English and not a supporter of independence, but yes she did. I thought she gave the best performance, and I don't even agree with her. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? It's an interesting project but doesn't really tell us who 'won' the debate, it just tells us which parties keyboard warriors support. Didn't we already know that the SNP had a very, erm, active online community?
