It's just the same for Labour heartlands in the Northern regions of the UK.
But we accept that is how democracy works.
(and we don't demand a referendum every 20 minutes when it looks like we won't get what we want)
I love how Scotland has to be considered some kind of special case. It doesn't. It's just another region with assets and costs.
You don't demand a referendum because your lot think UKIP and the BNP are your saviours.0 -
The Scots electorate voting overwhelmingly SNP without ever having the collective cojones to vote for independence will be a thoroughly bad thing for Scotland. The English, to neuter a relatively small region of the UK having a disproportionate say in UK affairs will simply vote for a party that will sideline the majority Scottish viewpoint, so goodbye Barnett Formula perhaps!
Couple that with the real risk of the Scottish political scene becoming sectarian in nature then what price the birth or growth in a Unionist party in Scotland.
We get it. Everything Scotland does will be a 'bad thing'.
You're well schooled on that side of the argument!0 -

No, everything done by a SNP block of MP`s sent to Westminster by an infantilised Scots electorate will be a "bad thing".“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0 -

No I meant not that bothered if Labour or Tory get in. But 100,000 members and about 42% of the electorate do care that the SNP get more MP's sent down to Westminster to represent them than previously. When I said we weren't bothered, I didn't mean not engaged with the politics. Just not engaged with Labour or Tory anymore. That poll today shows once again that Milliband is more unpopular than Cameron... in Scotland !!! :eek:It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -

Sent to Westminster to do the job they're elected for and paid to do?
To quote a previous poster: That's how democracy works!
No problem with this at all.
They are being sent to represent all their constituents : the ones who voted for independence, *and* those who did not , like Hamish.
There were a majority of the latter I seem to recollect. They deserve proper representation.0 -

No problem with individual MP`s representing the interests of their constituents (our system of government) but a separatist nationalist block of MP`s with an interest in the de-stabilising of our Union will in my view exact a reaction from the rest of the UK that will be negative for a Scotland that will never vote for independence.“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0 -

They're representing their constituents. If they don't, they'll be voted out.

If you vote SNP then you're voting for independence. There's not much argument to be had on that one.0
