The SNP aren't the only party for independence in Scotland. Nor are all those that want independence a member or supporter of any particular party.

So support isn't falling. However, someone who votes SNP has to be aware, at least vaguely, that's it's one of the SNP's policies. And shouldn't be surprised if that's what they push for long term.

The SNP don't want independence. As far as they are concerned the gravy train is at the station and it's loaded with Bisto.

The job of the UK government is to ensure that that gravy is lumpy and bitter. Salmond might smack his lips over a bowl but I can assure you he won't be laughing when he gets a taste and finds he doesn't like his own medicine.

So your claim is that support for independence has already fallen from 45% to about 42-43% since the referendum. Why do you think Scots are going off the idea of independence so quickly?

There was a lot of talk about oil as a major driver in the Scottish economy.

Scottish voters aren't stupid. They can work out what happens when one of your major asset income streams collapses.

Perhaps they can flog more Whisky?

You still going on about that, don't you ever get fed up of repeating yourself

because these things are true and because they are relevant to the post I was replying to.

wrongs are wrong and need to be denounced repeatedly.

don't you ever get fed up of repeating yourself?

If that's your version of political awareness, then you're in a very bad way.

I think it's more the racism rather than concern for the NHS that is driving those votes.

Obviously you're quite proud of your fellow countrymen!

A fair and equitable per capita spend on all UK citizens would only be considered racist to the terminally stupid.
There is I have to inform you a burgeoning English sense of grievance that is being recognised by the political parties now. This grievance will be easier to pander to if Scotland becomes more parochial in its voting habits I would suggest.

    Independence is completely feasible.

All you need to do is trim down the amount of money the state spends to broadly reflect income.

Of course, this will mean some hard choices. What services to cut etc.

But cuts are coming anyway. You know that. £30bn of cuts need to be found. Obviously some of this will impact Scottish people.

Here's the rub though. Your ordinary citizen thinks they can still have a very generous state AND a prosperous independent economy. They think this because they have been told they can have it.

    Sadly, somethings got to give.

Surely the goal of independence is worth a few years of austerity max? The choice is yours. Persuade people to pay more tax or accept a smaller state. Westminster would have to listen then.

All decent people should continue to condemn racism, corruption, hypocrisy and wrongs (even if it means a little repetition.)

Obviously it is difficult for true acolytes who can't bring themselves to rationally evaluate the behaviour and policies of their great leader(s). Sadly history shows many example of such blind followers and fellow travellers.

Do keep up the refusal to discuss actual policies and only discuss spin and trivia.

However, that leaves the duty of the decent people to keep the wrongs center stage.

Tbh I expected austerity for ten years at least, I expected my house value to drop, both were a sacrifice I considered worth it,
