Rach, what a sensible chap - I don't think you'll have any further problems with him, because this is his own idea and he isn't being pushed into it.
Shaz - well done! :T Have you thought through whether it would have been a great night if you had been drinking? Perhaps it was just one of those times when there wasn't much to get excited about. Please don't think you missed the fun because you stayed sober - maybe there wasn't much genuine fun being had. And your friends are the ones with hangovers today.
I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

hi everyone
Shaz you are doing fantastic, congrats on night out and no drink! And 11 days sober too. Well done well done.
I had my counsellor appointment yesterday - I was paranoid about them telling social services cos they could take my girl. so i wouldnt give them any contact details at first. i just remember my gp going on about my driving licence and nothing else - both times i went.
But it turned out to be quite good - I have to think about what I want from this and I have got another appointment week after next (got a pig of a work week next week - Tyneside - Leicester - Cardiff - Tyneside - London - home - and work in between.....)
so getting there very very very slowly.
Best wishes to everyone.

hi ahh, glad the counsellor appointment went well, i was going every week, but this time he said we'll make it two weeks, gave me a prescription to last that length time too, not that they help much, have had bad alcohol cravings tonight, ended up eating a third of a big bag peanuts, and two pints diet coke, think i'll end up with an eating addiction next lolenjoy life, we only get one chance at it:)0

hi again
no unfortunately we arent doing anything nice he has to work 12-8 tomorrow
but he has decided he wants to stop........rach xxxx
Hi rach
I meant did YOU treat yourself to anything?
I find it best if I take things one day at a time - I can't always cope with more than that.
Good luck! That's life, it's just the way it is0 -
Well done shaz and ahhh keep it up kiddos.
Shaz we went to a Burns supper last night and some people behind us were very drunk. They were talking all through the presentations of Burns poetry and were very obnoxious. I had a laughing fit at one of the very funny Burns skits a man was doing and the drunkard back to back with me was shouting loudly" listen to that old tart with the dirty laugh. "Well what old tart could that be I wonder? I thought if he only knew how he was acting would it stop him.
I am glad you didn't drink and aren't you? Who knows what you could have said or done. Hubby had a sore head today after all the whiskey and he says the upside is not worth the downside anymore and he is just not going to feel obligated to keep saying yes just because we are in rounds and feels he should be polite and keep up with the others.
Remember those times when you humiliated yourself, spent too much, couldn't remember what you had done and then woke up feeling the sh its. Is it worth it? Nope, sure ain't.
Ahhh I am glad the counsellor helped and isn't judgemental. There but for the grace of God go all of us. Keep going every day it will get better. Take care both.

My daughter (17 next week) is staying over with friends as the parents of another 6th former are away. So it`s party time. She asked me to get her a bottle of vodka and I figured that if I didn`t, the 18 year olds with ID would buy it for her anyway. She knows all about the horrors of alcohol from observing me over the years, but she has to make her own mistakes I suppose.
Haven`t heard any sirens during the night, so probably been ok. Unlike the last party when her friend was rushed to hospital dangerously drunk.0 -
I let my 16 year old (17 in May) have a bottle of cider on the condition that she drinks it slow and shares it. That seems to work. They just need to have something that looks right.
Tonight she has just come in from a party having had 3 glasses of wine in just over 3 hours - she does seem a wee bit under the weather, but is on the water and cornflakes...
Not sure what to do with her - and her bro (nearly 21, out all night last night, just woke up when I rang him at 5pm, in a friends house..)
I am sure they are getting the bad messages from their friends and society, not just from their terrible mum...0 -
hi guys. sorry i aint been around for a while. been through a bit of a time. relationship wise. its getting sorted now though. i got very consummed in self and didnt think of much else. i'm much happier now and can see a light at the end of the tunnel.
i aint going to lie this has been a very painful time for me, but not once did it cross my mind to pick up a drink or anything else which i am very gratefull to god and the 12 steps for helping me achive.
