morning all, i slept almost 12 hours las t night, bar the 2.30am wake up i was in bed at 10.30 and up again at 11.00 :) i needed it. i'm off to work again in an hour...

Lewt, that's amazing, almost identical to my own hours of sleep last night and well into this morning. There's no doubt about it, being off the booze does aid restful sleep, as some advert for something or other used to say.

Sorry you have to work on a Sunday though :(.

I had a thought yesterday after logging off, and wondered if anyone had any views on it. You know those adverts in the local paper (well round here anyway) for hypnotherapy, that say they can help you with giving up smoking, losing weight etc. Well why don't they ever suggest they could help with alcohol problems? Surely smoking must be the same sort of physical and mental addiction as alcohol, and yet they never seem to touch on that. Same with those herbal and homeopathic remedies - loads for smokers but nothing for drinkers  . That's my thought for the day lol. Have a good one all.
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

hi all, long time since i posted on this thread, but after reading your post bogof babe, i would just like to add that my area does offer counselling, treatments, and alternative therapies in the treatment for alcohol addiction.
guess it must be different up and down the country

Hi Shaz, how are you doing? Good to see you.
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

  • just following on from a previous post. I too have often wondered why there is no help like hypnotism etc for people with a drink problem. I also notice that I sleep much better when i'm dry.At the moment this is day 6 off the drink, by god i wish i had never ever had one then I would'nt have to go through this obsentance. . but I know i can never be a social drinker so it;s going to have to be all or nothing for me.

hi bogof babe, i'm doing ok, considering its xmas, split up with my ex few weeks ago, and i got the kids bored at hom.
i'm not making excuses, or am i
but i have been having a drink, not as many as i used to, but i think its becoming a habit again, most nights its only a can of fosters, some nights two, but its becoming every night again, gonna make a fresh start on tues, and see alcohol team on weds. the alcohol team have a counsillor who i can open up and talk to, the doctor there prescribes my meds to help with the cravings, then the therapist is giving me reflexology, something to look forward to.
well done on getting through the last two months sober, your an inspiration to me, as are the rest of you on this thread.
    thanks

A happy new year to all. And a word of caution. When I was in rehab (again), it was pointed out that the next few days are the most dangerous. Many congratulate themselves on getting through Christmas and NYE without a drink. Then their guard slips and they take the first drink. We all know what happens next.
    Keep well.
