Instead of drinking the beer or tipping it down the sink, use it in casseroles - it adds flavour but no alcohol because those bits dissipate with heat.
  • hello everyone, how are you all today? Well tonight is going to be a big test for lots of us! I'm not going out will see in the New Year tucked up in bed hopefully fast asleep. For all of you who are doing so very well just hold onto that thought stay positive and we can all start the new year off together sober.

Afternoon all. The above link is to a radio phone-in this morning on 5Live, which was most illuminating, and if I may say so, sobering. The topic was whether the price of alcohol should be increased to prevent all the problems caused by it, but some of the people who phoned in had heartbreaking stories. Well worth a listen. If the link doesn't work it can be found on the BBC Radio website under 5Live, listen again, Richard Bacon, Monday 31st Dec. If anyone wants to listen and has trouble, post here and I will try to explain the routing to find it, as it is a bit convoluted.

Apart from that, hello everyone! I'm not worried about tonight as it is always just another night here, except that we get woken up by blummin' fireworks at midnight  .

I'm just listening to "our" Martin on Money Box Live - he's well fired up as usual!
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

I'm in sunny Algarve at the moment. I'll be bringing in the bells on the beach in Lagos watching the fireworks but I'll be having a jealous moment or two as I think of all you happy people enjoying that wonderful rain and freezing weather. (people reading this will think I've been drinking)
When I'm back home in summer I'll get the ferry across and visit you taff
