  • Tomorrow :) And I've got a new token/coiny thing.

Just spoke to midwife, and no-one at the hospital has any experience or knowledge of pain relief in labour for people with substance abuse problems, so I expect I shall do my best to have a pain relief free birth - scary!

feely, I had oxygen in a mask for my first, no pain relief meds whatsoever I also took breathing exercises at the prenatal clinic and that helped me through. taffy

  • The title says it all - so apart from controlling my anger with him (not easy!) at his occasional attempts to blame his bad behaviour on me, what can I do? He's determined that he wants no more to do with alcohol, but he feels terrible about "wasting the last twenty years" as he puts it.

I think we both thought that as soon as he gave the stuff up, it would be plain sailing, the arguments would stop and everything in the garden would be rosy. But it isn't.

How's it going frostyspice? It often gets worse before it gets better.

Details of how to contact Al-Anon Family Groups are on the first post of this thread.

Well I've got my bottle of orange squash and another of lemon squash (saved 28p on a multi-buy too :D ) so yes I guess that makes me prepared.

OH was eyeing up a Christmas cake with Guinness in yesterday, and I said "you can get it for yourself but I won't be having any, I don't even like the taste of booze now". And I meant it!

How is everyone else? I wondered when this thread would resurface, but I knew it would sooner or later. Have a great Christmas everyone.
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

Aww Lewt what a lovely post. If it wasn't for you none of us on here would have found eachother, and the support we have all given and received, so if I may just this once toast you in lemonade, coffee or Ovaltine... .

Just got back from a meal at a neighbour's house, me being the nominated driver. It wasn't neighbours where we live, but next door to my late father-in-law's house, hence the driving. (I am always the driver when we go anywhere these days, and it makes me feel good to have that responsibility.) Tonight there was good company, good food, and I'll have a clear head tomorrow - what could be better? :)

Have a great day everyone, and I sincerely hope 2009 is good for all of us. xxx

A happy and sober Xmas to everybody. We had a houseful of Portuguese and Brits for Xmas Eve dinner last night. Like Bogof i was the taxi at the end. I can be funny about this at times. If I think I am being taken for granted then I refuse. The only people I do this with are my (grown up) children. It was my own fault as I had difficulty in saying no. They have learned to be diplomatic and ask so everything is fine now but there have been a couple of problems in the past.
Today I am having another housefull and my poor wife is running around like a maniac mother hen, but she is enjoying every minute.
