I keep my carrier bags in a sausage and thought I wouldn't bother folding them. However in a stressful moment I needed something to calm me and I thought samosaing bags might do the trick.

To begin with the bag was bulging and full but after folding thet barely take up half the bag. And it was soothing to do :)

I find it soothing too. For me, with an anxious mind, having to spend a tiny bit of focused time on something simple and repetitive can slow my mind down. And as for ranger rolling socks and undies, I actually looked forward to doing laundry this week, seeing it as something more tidy and productive.

But yes, it also takes up a lot less space too :o

I am in the middle of a declutter (though I haven't read the book yet) currently struggling with paperwork and bedding

I must confess though, that I don't 'get' the plastic bags thing :o

Mine get stuffed into a fabric sausage thing open at both ends, which hangs in the porch. It doesn't take up much room, and is an ecru colour and not really noticable. If I get too many bags, I recycle them.

What do people do with them once they have been 'samosa-ed'?
Hi, I used to have a big plastic holder from ik3@ that would overflow with bags.

I now have about 10 samosad bags in my bottom kitchen drawer. I don't see that I'll ever need more than ten.

I have to agree with the others regarding carrier bags.

When I emptied my holder which was absolutely stuffed, I quickly looked at each one before samosaing. Around 50% had small holes in them these were all binned, I folded the rest and now have ample room in the holder.

Weirdly it wasn't just about folding it tidy, it meant that I am not going to be in a position where I'm rushing, load a bag and it splits all over the driveway. I was shocked just how many had holes (every single Asda one for example!).

2024 - happy, healthy, quality over quantity, buy nothing new (and 2nd hand only if NEEDED), mindful spending, nurturing myself and family, living for now.

Mortgage @ 31/12/23 £248k - too high, interest rate gone up - want this down asap!
    Debt @ 31/12/23 £16k - no interest - will clear over 5 years hopefully.
Emergency savings £4k - been ransacked over last year - needs attention :-(
  • I'm going to start on paperwork today. How far back are you guys going? I have some stuff from a house a lived in 2 before this one- about 9 years ago. Can all that stuff go?

What about bills etc... I getting scared I'll throw something important out!

Rainy-days, a friend of Mum's remarried in middle-age and became stepmum to a household of teen males, plus new hubs (her own kids being grown and flown by this point). What she did was have out ONE glass, ONE mug and ONE plate per family member. Others were under lock and key.

It was designed to stop the beggars leaving them all over the house growing mould. Works a treat.

I too am forming little rituals and habits.
I'm finding my time management is getting better too
Chopping up my day to do stuff
With time to relax just as important.

It was me that posted about the 4 items in easy reach
I thought of putting the spares under lock and key or in another room
But my lads seem to be conforming to the reduced amount available
It does work my kitchen I've mentioned is tiny
So if every plate ect is used up along with every pan ect it can look like a busy hotel kitchen
I won't kondo the spares because things get smashed
One of them takes soup to work so I've hid the spare flask
So he has to remember to bring the dirty one home
And also take it out of his bag each night to get washed

    Photos
I was asked by a family member if I had a spare pic of our grandad
Well yes I have so I was really obliged to sort through the piles of pics I have
It's spooky that I had started to do this I'm sorting into who what when where and old photos.

The people who are finding their energy drained
I found this a week in after I started Kondoing
I wasn't doing too much I think it had something to do with the stuck energy of the stuff I was losing
I hope that doesn't sound too woo woo
    It's what I found though
I even caught a nasty cold and I rarely get colds
The more I tidy the more energy I find is returning
Don't know if anyone else finds this

It's good though that some bags are breaking down
I've heard it takes 100 years for plastic to break down in landfills
Not good for storing things long term or like you say grab n go situations

I wish producers or supermarkets had to pay for all the excess packaging things come in

I'm too scaredy cat to throw much financial stuff out
And as another poster said I'm not too keen on digitalising
I've been through a legal situation this week and some of it referred to 15years ago. So yes from now on I will purge regularly but I will just file this years papers and archive the rest
A lot can go and has done but you never know

We have been paying 5p a bag in Scotland for a while now. I thought I had loads but they get used up quickly as I use them for bin bags. I throw away the bag I use when I buy fish also if something in my shopping leaks etc.The handles break when I carry heavy books back to the library or something heavy to the chazzer. Feel a holiday to England ( before October) to stock up is needed.;):p My OH hands me the bag when he's been shopping to fold hehe.:rotfl:
