Evening all,
Had a mammoth sorting session today. All paperwork I have found has been sorted through, only essentials kept and I now have a single crate full of 'filed papers' and a magazine rack which holds a folder for my lists/things I refer to, cheque books and plastic wallets with things to action/things ongoing. A small fire proof safe holds the vip documents.
I've now started to move onto the kids stuff. So far I have consolidated two folders of nursery paperwork into one for my son. They also have a single lever arch folder each of artwork brought home/done at home (only 1/5 filled as only the best pieces). Plus a medium size cardboard box each with keepsakes from their baby days.
This feels like too much but it brings me joy so I am not entirely sure how much progress I'm going to make. I may well put it on hold and do a couple of easier areas first.
IWAB x2024 - happy, healthy, quality over quantity, buy nothing new (and 2nd hand only if NEEDED), mindful spending, nurturing myself and family, living for now.
Mortgage @ 31/12/23 £248k - too high, interest rate gone up - want this down asap!
Debt @ 31/12/23 £16k - no interest - will clear over 5 years hopefully.
Emergency savings £4k - been ransacked over last year - needs attention :-(0 -
Think I lost my kondo-mojo for a while but have still been reading along. However have managed a bit more this evening, some komono-type stuff- a drawer of bits and another of nail varnishes etc.
The latter turned up colours I didn't even like, definitely no joy, and I'd somehow bought two the same of one colour!! - doubly joyless
Anyone know if CS take nail varnishes?
Ranger rolled my micro fibre dusters. Managed to amalgamate another two drawers into one.

Thank you x
Now, I spotted some of these in TK Maxx oohh a few months back now I cannot for the life of me how much they were, but I think they were in possibly packs of 10 and an array of different colours. Debated at length shall I or leave it and I left it. So, I will be interested to see the answers.Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money:beer:

Well then, the work project I was hoping would finish end Feb, after which I'd plunge into kondoing, will carry on for several months more. Good on the money front, but not for all the spare time I was looking forward to having. So I might as well make a start. I have a relatively free weekend so will start on all the clothes on Thursday evening, with only the necessary lulls for planned shopping and going out on Saturday evening.
The book says that this complete decluttering and tidying should take no more than six months. That's one of the puzzling things for me: surely even the busiest person can do this in 2 or 3 weeks unless they have as much as a whole department store? :oAnyone has any thoughts on this?Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -

Its a pretty tidy house is Chez Rainy-Days but the biggest time consumer was actually the wardrobe and the only conclusion that I can come to is that it's just my personal stuff; clothes and shoes that I have had for some time, thinking of where and when I wore it. Thinking about the cost of stuff vexxed me no end! I think you should have it 'licked' in a day - a few coffee breaks in between, a few walk away from it and think about it moments, but you should be well on top of it. Found it super easy to just have a roll of black bags on the bed and then as each bag got loaded walked it down stairs to the front door. That way I didn't have full bags in the bedroom or on the landing either. That also had an impact of making headway and clearing the room.giving space quite quickly.
The kitchen was a flipping doddle, breezed through it and oohh I felt so virtuous; you know that moment where John Lydon in I'm a Celebrity said "I'm so at one with nature" well hey I was so at one with my kitchen:rotfl:Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money:beer:

Hi all. Many years ago when I shopped for clothes quite a lot, I always bought my clothes from a certain shop and always asked for spare hangers. I must've shopped there a lot because I have every single item of clothing now on these matching hangers. Which also include thicker hangers for jackets and coats and also hangers for trousers. Wish I could scrub or cover up the name of the shop though. Anyone that sees my wardrobe must think I'm a shopaholic :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I kondoed most of my home in a week. Although I have been doing a second smaller kondo on stuff like costume jewellery and kimono stuff.
Some of my stuff, like another OP said, doesn't give me joy but is necessary. Its also made me think of what things I buy and use all the time and other things I've hardly touched in the 8years I've been here. Like my cleaning cupboard, I don't buy this and that I now stick to wul, white vinegar and bleach for cleaning. So whilst I'm decluttering I'm making mental notes of what I don't use as well as what I do.0 -
Has anyone heard if Jinny is okay? Hope she is getting well looked after.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...:D:D

I think I started about 10 days ago...and I still have a long way to go. I haven't even finished clothes yet. I'm not an obsessive hoarder but I do have plenty of stuff. I'm coming to realise I have a lot of sentimental attachment to things so I'm not going to rush myself. I just do an hour here or there and only if I'm in the right frame of mind.
But each of us is different, let us know how you get on quasarweaving through the chaos...0
