I would just like to thank VfM4meplse for the excellent summary that started this thread. Every time I re-read it, it gives me a boost to do a little kondoing.
Hear, hear, Siebrie. Also thanks to everyone who has posted tips, wise words, funny stories and support. You've been great :T
wishing everyone a happy, indeed joyful, Christmas with consumable presents all round

Hoping you've all had a lovely day! We are all stuffed, but everything is cleared away, leftovers are in Tupperware in the fridge, the carcass is bubbling away for stock and the dishwasher is on
For my part, I had alcohol (white choc vodka and sloe gin), chocs (inc some Charbonnel & Walker pink champagne truffles - I am a lucky lady!), smellies, face and body stuff, socks (needed), Xmas PJs (given to me yesterday for wearing last night), a candle (smells lovely - will be lit after Xmas when the house is less festooned with tealights everywhere!) and a fitbit (has been thinking about getting one for months) Oh - and a purple vase (goes with dining room, may have to remove something already in there to make way for it) and 2 wine glasses. The glasses are my only 'dodgy' present. We have (in Waterford crystal) 8 champagne flutes, 10 red wine and 8 white wine and the 8 Royal Worcester wine glasses (our everyday type ones) However, the giver (my mum) did say that they have matching tumbler glasses in the same design, so I'm thinking about asking the shop to swap them, as tumblers would be lovely (they match the colour scheme) and far more practical
DS3 has rejected 1 present (from my cousin) so it has gone into gift stash and is earmarked for an upcoming partyDS2 is considering one (which I think is quite cool) and that will be gift stashed if rejected (and remains unopened)
I'm looking forward to re-starting KMing properly again, rather than the piecemeal stuff which I've done of late

I will buy 2 or 3 rolls of wrapping paper in the sales - but NO general cards, tags or giftbags! I also need to buy some 'skinny' socks (the ones I received were fluffy) as lots of mine have become worn through and holey recently and I was waiting to see if anyone bought me any before replenishing mineI am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200 -
:)Having a chilled out family day, lots of laughter and reading out bits of funny books to each other.
My copies of Don Aslett's Freedom from Clutter and How to Win at Housework have returned from the depths of the bookcase in Mum & Dad's sitting room (where they have been lost out of sight for about 5 years) and Mum is presently reading them. She also said that a few things from the decorations box can go ( I have sorted them out).
Yesterday, I looked into the area off the kitchen and said it needed a little tidy up and Mum said it didn't. I was immediately anxious that I'd triggered the can't-throw-anything-away reflex but she then said Itneeds a BIG tidy up!
I have hopes of some tidying action in the next few days. There's months of kondo-potential on these premises, lovely peeps, but I may be able to nibble away at the edges. I shall shortly consolidate the dregs of two shampoo bottles into a third bottle (have had them upside down for a few hours in preparation) and then two can be washed up and into the recycling bin.
Righty, off back to the family (via the bathroom for the shampoo) so hope everyone has a lovely day and a lovely Boxing Day tomorrow. GQ xx

I am a self confessed and family proposed organising fiend...and I got this book as a Christmas present today!
Hehe - it was the only gift I didn't 'need' and that can't be 'used' up, but I think it's all in a good cause.
I find reading about organising as therapeutic as actually doing it. I'm only on p6 thanks to lots of family fun and games, but I can tell it's going to be up there amongst my favourite home books. Another lovely one is 'The Comforts of Home' - I love the thrifty tips for cleaning and masses of inspiring pictures.
I hope you've all had a lovely day. Merry Christmas. x0 -
Have decide I MUST do this in the new year, have read the book but yet to start. How long will it take??? I have a garage of doom which is my worst area but not all of it is mine, well a lot of it is:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:Go hopefully into each new day, enjoy something from every day no matter how small, you never know when it will be your last0

I need to get back on this thread. Months ago I sorted out a few drawers and they have remained neat and tidy but I have so much more to do. So I'm back and on a mission. Looking forward to completing the house this time.

Happy Christmas kondoites both old and new joiners
Christmas Day all very relaxed and we had a lot of laughs and fun
The question of how long it will take to fully kondo is like asking 'how long is a piece of string ' It will take as long as you need it to
But if you allow between 2 weeks and 10 years that should be fine :rotfl:
I have really enjoyed all your company on this journey so thank you allAll the advice and stories the ups and the downs along the way.
Off for the dip in the North Sea soon just a fun run to do first. To remember a fantastic grounded man who taught me 'I can do it if I want too' and its 'Never too late'So thank you Alec for just being you.

With having so much more time over the holidays, I think I'm going to actually pay kondo-attention to my clothes! As in, get everything onto my bed and go from there! I've already found an M&S top that can go - I wonder if Oxfam are still doing their voucher thing? Could be very interesting :j2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Be thinking of you Mavvy doing your 'Chilli dip' such a wonderful way to remember your inspiring friend, have a great day. Yesterday was quiet with just the two of us this year but this afternoon will be hectic at DS1's with all the family and my ex's family. looking forward to it but just hope there's no 'stuff' coming back as we're exchanging presents.
