There are some things that I found a bit odd, like emptying your handbag each night and putting your keys, purse etc away in their "homes". Just seems like a waste of time to me when I'd just get up the next day and have to put them all back in my bag :(
When I read this in the summer I gave it a go. The keys get hung up anyway, the phone stays out, everything else (purse, lipstick, tissues, little purse with painkillers, plasters & toothpicks, pen, insect spray and bite pen (we live in Spain) went in a little plastic box in the large box my handbags were stored in. Anything extra - receipts, camera etc., got dealt with straight away. It didn't change my life but made me so much more organised. No ending up with five pens as I wasn't sure if I had one etc, and all paperwork dealt with straightaway.

Now it's colder I settled onto one large bag which holds a cardi and pen so I stopped emptying it every night. Big mistake. It ends up full of rubbish and I'm back to five pens again. As of today I'm back to emptying it - give it a go, it really is a good idea :T.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

No the handbag thing I don't do. I need to have my bag keys Purse etc besides me all the time. I often have to dash out to see to a relllie I care for. So hopping around my flat looking for all those would stress me. However being able to grab an organized set of clothes shoes coat etc is very helpful.

My niece turned up Xmas day with my gift she insisted on getting me.
I asked for a jar of local honey. It was beautifully wrapped but the horror on her kids faces as I opened it was priceless. They obviously thought it was a naff gift. I made a point of making quite a fuss of it
They clocked I was genuinely pleased. I said oh I much prefer this to smellies as I sometimes get an awful rash with those. I would hope they took note and I get more gifts like that.

I started with my kitchen it was amazing standing in it the morning after I'd finished with my cuppa and admiring the clean clear surfaces.
The paperwork was daunting but well worth it it took a week!

But really your off work so just relax and enjoy the time off.
I'm retired so can please myself.

I got rid of all those little scoops too ivyleaf. A spoon works perfectly well :)

Like you I've just started to use the cafetiere again - I had lots of ground coffee but wasn't using it. Since I started drinking 'proper' coffee I find I'm drinking a lot less of it, and enjoying it more. No need for a posh coffee machine - I have one that does a mugful for when it's just me, and a larger one for when other people want coffee. Mind you, I have lots of teapots that I love, but rarely use. I think I might start :)

We recently came across the Russell Hobbs percolator OH's parents gave us as a wedding present. We haven't used it for years and years :D I think we might bring it back into service when we fancy a coffee in the afternoon or evening. The cafetiere is better in the morning, as it's a small one, it's only me that uses it and OH gets up a lot later than me.

I've taken to using a teapot again this year too, and I do think the tea's better for it.

Better day today and OH is brighter, we have been out for a lonnnng walk which has blown the cobwebs away and so my thoughts are turning to decluttering (yay!)

Im off in the bath to re read the book and to declutter some christmas smellies :)

Will do my clothes tomorrow!! (and report back- you lot can be my cheerleaders) :j:j:j:j ;)
Go hopefully into each new day, enjoy something from every day no matter how small, you never know when it will be your last

I've fallen a bit behind; inner me still wants to achieve declutter heaven, but with a few days off work now, can any of you kind KM-ers tell me what tidying had the most impact, and therefore the most incentive to carry on.

    Thanks.

Hard to say - minimal impact on the house but huge incentive for me was doing my knicker drawer. It's somewhere you go every day, so it reminds you of the whole process.

Greatest impact on the home but hardest to do was paperwork. It meant I could get rid of the filing cabinet and it has made filing (and retrieving) much easier. I definitely wouldn't start with that though, it'll put you off.

I'd begin with clothes, as MK suggests - it's an easier category, and it will probably (depending on how you live now) make your bedroom a calmer and tidier place.

I started with books. There were so many and scattered all around the house.

Mine I kondoed successfully,OHs I sorted into three piles but ultimately the decision was his - whilst he was happy to put the ones I thought he would keep back on the shelf, he said that he would have gotten rid of more. I guess we could revisit that then,.....

Then I did knickers and other clothes.

I wanted to be done by the end of the year, and I am not - but not unhappy with the progress.

We will continue next year, when I also intend to Kondo the garden (not get rid of, just sort - it is definitely not joyful)
I wanna be in the room where it happens

    Morning kondoties :D

Well the swim went well :) You have to go in twice 'That is the rules' :D The second time is so much harder as you know what to expect :rotfl:Over 200 brave idiots again this year and Over £2k raised for a very good cause. So on the whole I think Alec would have been very proud of everyone. It was a great morning :D

I was just thinking Kondo has made Christmas so much easier this year. Not only down to the not buying gifts (that has helped) But being able to find everything so quickly.

DH Shall we play cards oh where are they ? Me - 2nd drawer down on the left handside at the back :rotfl::rotfl:

Do need to do a bit of tidying and cleaning today as have not done anything since last week some time ;) Maybe for about a week in fact. TBH its really still not that bad.

Outfits thats easy now as I dont have that many to choose from now after the about 9th kondoing of the wardrobes :rotfl:

Next year I am going to try very hard not to buy anymore clothes as I need to break that habit which is what it is as I dont need anymore.

So think I will join the NOT BUYING IT THREAD as it will motivate me even more hopefully and they are complete pros on there ;)

I am still upbeat and looking forward I refuse to let Black Dog get me in this Christmas,Birthday and New year week as it has every year since I can remember.

My Birthday is Wednesday and I am going to brave the sales just one shop (as DH got a gift card from the company he freelances for ) So as I have kondoed all my unjoyful bedding and only have 2 sets left :o I am going to find a nice new one but am refusing to go in more than just that one shop :D

Well done on the swim and the fantastic amount raised Mavvy. Which beach do you swim off? I bet it was cold where ever it was.
Got a duvet to kondo tomorrow when the binmen come as ds2 got a new one, bazzarely it was his fave present, as soon as he opened it he was putting his new marvel cover on and said he couldn't wait to go to bed, lol it's been on the settee with him everyday since.
Going to put the canvas up the kids got us today it is brilliant and makes me smile every time I look at it. It definately brings joy.

Plan in the coming year is to make stuff using my stash to use as gifts or donate to good causes, I won't buy any new unless I need it to finish an item or run out.

    Have a joyful day all.
