Just to share my Joy today ,my niece has just had a baby girl, she's a month early but both seem well x
Born on my mum and dads anniversary, I'm sure my mum's up there with a hand in the babies that have been born since she died,we first had an influx of boys,we were a girl oriented family before.
As my niece is diabetic they said she'd be induced in January, and we had the baby shower on Sunday, good job we didn't wait till after Xmas !

Happy Christmas to each and every one of you and I hope the New year brings many joyful days x

We're off to tosco once strongman has finished so may be reporting queues there when I get back. Wish me luck

I spent my day off sorting out a few chores, 2 bags of garden waste to tip, paperwork filed then off to Sainsbobs for the turkey (it is quietly defrosting as we speak). I got everything on my list and only one extra - YS lamb shanks, now in freezer. Shop was busy but not hidious and I only waited a couple of minutes at checkout.

DH and I are planning a few parlour games for the 9 adults who are participating in our xmas lunch. One game involves inviting eager volunteers to eat pieces of chocolate in a bowl without using their hands. Just after they volunteer, sitting before their individual bowls, we will squirt cream over the choc pieces :rotfl: There are enough folk with a good sense of humour to make it a good laugh for partcipants and audience :)

so, yes, we have our random decs up (no real colour scheme, just things we find joyful!), the fridge is full and we are looking forward to the xmas day gathering.

I just have to do 2 more days in the office before my 4 day weekend!

Hope everyone has time to take a moment to find some joy amongst the rushing round. As others have said there is too much hype to try and convince us that we need to consume lots, be it Gifts, food, or whatever, when what really brings joy enjoying loved ones having a good time, remembering good times we made in past years and making the most any good fortune we have.

Best wishes to everyone. Remember, take a moment to find joy!

Congratulations on your new arrival, wort.

Christmas dinner for us will probably be a little trip up the coast with a flask of HM soup. Am sadly very excited about it :rotfl:. Going to OH's family on Boxing Day and will be cooking a turkey dinner there but have kept it simple.

Did ok with present buying but disorganisation meant paying first class postage for a particularly heavy parcel. Hopefully by next year with less clutter and outstanding stuff to be done, will be able to get started earlier.

Haven't planned anything for NYE as am normally out of the country for it. Will probably have a quiet night in with OH playing board games.

Plan to do some Kondoing between Christmas and New Year as I really want it gone now.

  • Congratulations Wort! Lovely news!

MMF I like the sound of your games, a little twist of silliness to make them more fun

I'm just about to pack my bags for travelling tomorrow, and I need to get the present wrapping done. I'm always the last minute Larry on Christmas Eve. Lunch prepped for tomorrow. Last day at work tomorrow and I have kondoed the fridge contents nicely so that there's no heap of veg to go manky in my absence.

    Right. I'm off

MMF007 that reminded me of the childhood party game where everyone sat in a circle throwing a dice in turn. When a six was thrown the person had to put on hat scarf & knitted gloves, pick up a knife & fork and cut off a piece of chocolate from a large block. If you managed to get a bit of chocolate in your mouth you won!

I hope everyone has a lovely Christmas - this thread has been so helpful to me - just today, I took a bag of stuff to the charity shop, things that had faded into the background - those books are on that shelf, that candlestick goes there, I didn't *see* them. But I cleared out the gloryhole by the back door recently - even cleaned it! :) - and that's made a real difference too.
