Wish I'd stuck with KM, promise to do a bit a day next year, or even over the Christmas break.
I truly felt great after binning or CSing a load of stuff, but work gets in the way of keeping at it.
No Christmas food shopping woes I hope - managed to bagsie a delivery on 23rd Dec evening, which still gives me a chance to top it up if they have no shows or crappy subs.0 -
Congratulations, wor, what lovely news.
Mavvymoo, your mention of games brought back some happy memories. I can only remember a couple of Christmas presents from years ago (teddy-on-a-bicycle is still with me) but what I do remember are playing Risk, Monopoly and Bucccaneers; charades; singing carols round the piano; making paper chains; the year my brothers and sisters put on a puppet show complete with home-made puppets. In other words, it is the experiences, not the things that I remember.
Silvasava, the adverts that irritate me most are the ones that show beautiful people exchanging presents in their pyjamas! Who wakes up looking like that, with smooth shiny hair and flawless skin? It takes a lot of coffee and hours of work these days to get me looking decent! It's all a load of rubbish, as you say - adman's fantasy.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0 -
I watched the 1974 film of Swallows and Amazons the other day (it's on ITV on catch up if anyone wants to see it). They were ordinary-looking kids with wonky teeth and bad haircuts. Not something likely to happen now, after all, it's not going to sell the need for perfection...0

We watched it too a few weeks ago Greenbee - WHAT - letting children play on the water, make a fire and stay overnight without a responsible adult - shock horror!!!!! Lovely film of much gentler times.Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

Hi everyone
Congratulations, wort.
Just wanted to say I hope you all have the best Christmas you want, and to lots of KM-ing in 2016. See you there.

I am a bit horrified looking at the number of presents sitting under our tree. Or should I say present mountain with Angel peeping through. I have resisted the urge to buy lots as I know it has to go somewhere. The girls have got clothes and shoes-that's what they asked for. DS has games for his Xbox. Keep having to take deep breaths at the thought of the gaming chair that his grandparents have bought him! At least 2 lots of stuff will be leaving with daughters.
I have managed to cut down on the food this year. I have a bit of a party food fetish would eat it all year round if I could but so far have only got a few crisps and a yummy chocolate log.
A merry but peaceful Christmas to you all. XxxDe cluttering Konvert.Getting there

Hi everyone, having a quick break from cleaning. Chavda store itself wasn't too bad, it was the queues at checkouts. To entertain myself I decided to see how many trolleys had the same large jars of red cabbage.........8!!!!!
Why?????? It's foul!0 -
Afternoon all
Congratulations Wort on the new arrival
Went food shopping(just to help her) with an elderly lady from down the road today she shops in Waitr*se  When we got there it was very busy and the tills were packed
She was in there looking for ages and ages  When we got to the check out there was no one waiting straight on to pay.
Seemed strange as the store was empty just a few people wandering round.
When we got outside we understood why3 car pile up outside blue lights everywhere. All roads shut and no one allowed in or out of the carpark:(
So we went back in the shop to have some lunch and 1.5 hours later we were allowed out of the carpark.
Thank god she was looking for ages in the shop as that could have been us.
I just hope everyone was ok sadly it looked pretty bad
So I thanked my lucky stars today and was so grateful to get us both home safe and sound.

Just popping on to wish everyone a very happy Christmas!
The pile of presents here isn't too bad. I've bought OH 2 pairs of Levis, because he needs new ones and vouchers for 2 different afternoon teas for us both to go to (yum!!) The kids have got him funky patterned boxers and socks from JL (ouch at the price! - but - again - he needs more!), chocs (1 bag of Cadby buttons, as he's being very good with his diabetes nowadays), smellies and a mug. So he's ok KM wise! The children have got games, books, some clothes and munchy and smelly stuff. OK - the amount of stuff in the house will increase - but not by masses, tbh - there's not necessarily been less money spent, but there's definitely no 'omg I need to buy more' presents there!
Presents still here to go out are for BF & her DH - food and drink, uncle - wine, my nan - puzzle (which she passes on to my aunt who then passes it to my mum), sis & OH (food, drink and 2 Xmas jumper mugs because they're silly and she loves stuff like that), niece (books and a toy), my mum (slippers and willies which she asked for and some face cream - again, asked for and HM preserved pears and pics of the children) and an Oxfam unwrapped gift for another aunt
I've put a little decorated note in most of the gifts, saying that we didn't want to randomly add to people's 'stuff' and that we hoped they'd enjoy the consumables instead.
Food wise here, the extra I've bought is soft drinks for the teens (they only have it for school hols, not term time), a Yule log (will quickly go between the 4 of them), more fruit than normal and more bacon than normal (because bacon sandwiches are often eaten as a brunch during the hols by the teens) Oh - and a genoa cake. And that's it as far as 'extra' food goes! We've been given some mini stollens which no-one likes, so they are in our bag of food items to go to the foodbank.
I also have a carrier of a few items so far of things culled this week to go to CS post Xmas
Hope you all have a lovely day, whatever you're doing
