Happy Birthday VJsmum and best wishes to your Dad Mavvy. It sounds like he's doing well.
My tree is up - I will take the time to kondo some tatty tinsel and other random bits whilst the boxes are out. I have bought quite a few new tree decorations this year - about 12 I think. Need to kondo my stinky cold though!"Does it spark joy?" - Marie Kondo

Hi everyone and big hugs to Mavvy's dad xxxx
I am 47 and suffered a bleed on the brain/mini stroke in October which was a huge shock as I do a lot of fitness and eat quite healthily. I have recovered very well, not quite up to full speed yet and hoping to do a phased return to work in January. My MRI is end of Jan and is to see if they can see what caused the bleed.
I just love this thread and have implemented some konding which has really helped me gain back some control of my life. Clothes are done, finally happy with airing cupboard after 3 attempts (!) and deccies done, most of which went to a charity shop.
I can only do the odd drawer at the moment as I will need some energy for Christmas week but house is much easier to keep clean apart from 3 dogs konding the mud from the garden into my kitchen lol!
Take care all xxx0 -
Happy Birthday VJsmum  Hope you're having a good day! Is DD home from uni yet?
mavvymoo Your poor Dad! Glad he's getting on so well now ((HUGS))
Welcome Joyfully :hello: Glad you're on the mend!
Very pleased with DS this morning, he bought a new pair of trainers yesterday and to my astonishment he decided which pair to get rid of and put them in the bin on his way out  Usually they'd hang around in the hall being tripped over for several months.0 -
Hi just popping in to show me face
Happy birthday vjsmum
And speedy recovery for your dad MM
I've been helping a friend and her Gannie
(That's what she calls her GGrandma
We're from Northumberland)
She was flooded out a bit not as bad as those poor people in Cockermouth but still not nice. She's 86 and fiercely independant. However we have all been amazed at all the community and help that arrived.
Not much of her stuff was damaged as her special things/memories are held at her granddaughters house from the last floods in that area
Looking along the road though the stuff in skips outside houses brought it home to me the fragility of our stuff. Nobody thankfully was hurt but some stuff didn't survive.
Makes you think doesn't it?”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)
Put on some lipstick
and pull yourself together”

Well most of us including me wouldn't have the energy to attempt this lady's decluttering journey
But wow respect!”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)

and pull yourself together”

Thank you for the messages, I have had a lovely day - despite work which at least was painless.
I have had lovely pressies, a couple of gift vouchers, my favourite perfume, a scarf I wanted some PJs I chose.
But, though I feel a bit mean, I must share this one from my sister
http://www.findmeagift.co.uk/gifts/eyezone-massager.html
What the actual f is that? I really hope she didn't pay for it and is just re gifting something. I have tried it - it's given me a sick headache - no joke. I am afraid to say it is straight in the chazzer shop bag.
Feel a bit of an ungrateful cow though
I really hope she didn't pay good money for it, she can't afford it..I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Happy birthday VJsmum, have a good one!
Mavvy, well done on making sure your dad got the help he needed, and hats off to the paramedic who persevered, I bet they were under a lot of time pressure to make themselves available elsewhere. Best wishes to you and your dad.
I took a bag of outdoor games to CS this week. They had been lurking in a cupboard for a few years, untouched. Cupboard has been successfully re-purposed. Am still having tomshuffle things round a nit before finding the ideal locatikn but the room of doom is coming along nicely. Not finished yet but well on the way.
I, like many, have a busy run up to xmas, but I am trying to get a bit more Kondoing done over the next 2 weeks - not altogether sure when but, as Hebwood says, things keep popping into your mind that can be released!
Have managed to reduce the number of decs on our 'tree' - it's a twig-style thing that has tiny lights on the end of the branches and I love it. DH likes some little decs and strings of bells on it but I don't! :rotfl:
I spent a joyful hour helping my elderly neighbour put up her tree and decs and she even releaed some decs to go to CS ( I 'll drop them in tomorrow, hopefully in time to benefit someone this year!)
Have a lovely evening everyone.
MI have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.0 -
Oh Vjsmum that looks like part of a storm troopers outfit from Starwars!:D
I once got a neck massager from someone. It looked lethal! Turned out it could be as it was reported a lady was wearing a chain whilst using one and died!!! .......binned
It's such a shame isn't it that people's gifts are given with the best of intentions. When all the recipient is thinking.....chazzer.
I can only use non perfume products and so most know the brand I use and I'm delighted to get those.
Howeve,r when I see those adverts for the latest technology in face creams aimed at the men folk to buy for ladies. I think no!
My boys have been told never to buy wrinkle cream for wags ever.
Unless it's asked for.:)”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)

and pull yourself together”

 VJsMum! That is an alarming-looking device.
Today, I have some errands to run and then will be visiting a pal and handed over a small bag of carefully-chosen consumable Christmas gifties. We both have tiny homes so only exchange consumables of modest price with each other. I do the same with a small group of other people.
Apart from that, am running an errand which will take me through the shopping streets, which I expect to be rammed, but I won't be going in ak-shoe-all shops, thank gawd.
Very much looking forward to Christmas for the time off, and seeing family, not for getting Stuff.I am slightly-embarrassed to admit that I still haven't spent all of Xmas 2014's gift money yet (I have it in a special purse). Must-do-better.
I would really like to have a gooseberry bush (or two) for my allotment, so might see if I can get those from a nursery/ garden centre. And about 5 tonnes of well-rotted manure........... but you wouldn't have to gift-wrap the latter.:rotfl:Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.
