So tomorrow is my birthday - yes, 21 again :rotfl:

I mention it to demonstrate how far i have come this year.

It is tradition in my place of work - as in many - to bring in cake when it is your birthday (what fool thought of that?). I have always prided myself on taking in home made cake and wallowing in praise.
I have done this even though it has nearly killed me to do it - and involves driving to work rather than the train (additional expense).

This year i have decided to pick up some cake from Tosspots which is about 2 mins from work - I may even just buy chocolates instead.

Obviously I have a way to go - otherwise i'd have taken nothing and not given [STRIKE]a flying f[/STRIKE] errrr two hoots for what anyone thinks :rotfl:
I wanna be in the room where it happens

:bdaycake: Happy Birthday to VJsMum, and well done on buying cake.

We have this tradition in my office, too, and nearly everyone buys cake/ biscuits rather than home-make them. We're busy people and, if you don't particularly adore baking or don't have time, I say buy 'em.

I was thinking of the lunacy where women with demanding careers feel obligated to conduct themselves as if they're full-time housewives. Like a detective sargent of my pal's acquaintance up who was up past midnight making cakes for a church bake sale. Just what you need after a horrendously busy day, no?

Have been offline for a day and half, due to sleeping in yesterday morning, being pie-eyed with fatigue after work yesterday. See, I am not an internet addict, I'm not, I'm not..............:p

Have been busily eating down the freezer and will aim to buy little or nothing else in the way of food this side of Xmas as I will be away to the family for the duration. Have been running down the supplies of certain things, to bring inventory closer to date.

I have also decided that when the Xmas cards have been admired and displayed, they are all going into the recycling, and will not be cut down for tags. I did shedloads of these last year and will have sufficient tags for about a decade, can't keep doing this year in year out.

Other than that, all is quiet on the kondo-front, although I have aspirations to be allowed to kondo at the parental home in the slack days between Christmas and New Year.

Keep up the good work, lovely peeps. GQ xx

    Morning all
Been awol for a while as my Dad had a couple of minor strokes last week :( So have been pretty busy sorting stuff out and visiting the hospital which is 45 miles from me.

Good news he is home and as right as rain now all his medication has been changed and it seems to have worked :D

The thing that stuck me was how kind everyone was from the lovely man who picked him up after he collasped in a shop took him home and waited with him till I got down there and stayed with me until the paramedic arrived.

The paramedic who was with us for 2 hours as he couldnt find nothing wrong in any of Dads tests but trusted me saying my Dad wasnt right. Then when Dad had the stokes in front of us getting him to hospital asap.

All the overworked staff in the hospital from the cleaners to the consultants were all were brilliant :T

Opened my eyes once again as to the kindness of complete strangers.

So no more kondoing done still no Christmas presents purchased and no cards written yet. But thank you cards and small edible gifts sent to everyone who helped that day that I could track down :)

Mavvy I hope your Dad keeps improving!

The only Kondoing done here recently has been a rather nice bottle of wine :rotfl:, (only joking! well not about the wine, that was really nice! but I did get the filing sorted out and a load of shredding done).

I realised this week why I hold on that a madwoman to books/games/DVDs, my late Mum and my Dad were terrors for just getting rid "because you haven't used it in ages", one of the items that went was a brand new game I was given for Christmas, I had managed to play it once and then my Mum took it to school and I never saw it again! and my Dad BINNED a limited print run book that cost me £100  (but you never read it!)

    Hello KW!

Ouch to those memories - there should be *consent* involved in kondoing :(

I've enabled a lot of kondoing of paper by repairing my recycling bin - the rain was getting in, outdoor-quality type*** applied to the leak, and lots of stuff that was waiting to go has gone :)

I've also realised a couple of things that can go - rats, I'm still not doing categories :( trying tho.

Other than clothes Karma I haven't really done catagories either, this house is small and so you can't really get everything out in one area!, we are just gradually nibbling away at the corners of STUFF (the fact that my packrat of a hubby is now folding his t-shirts and has voluntarily got rid of some stuff is amazing!)
    Must use my stash up!

Happy Birthday VJ's mum and do hope Dad is improving Mavvy.
Only Kondoing here so far is Christmas cards - but as fast as I write and post more come in!! Did manage to get rid of about 4 sacks of wood chippings from DH stocking up on the logs and 2 bags of wood ash to a lady who wanted it for her garden.
Got the deccy's down yesterday - i did have a cull last year but I think they could do with another one so will check them over. I've two nice big empty plastic boxes that have been 'freed' and I intend to use them for the decorations when they go back in the loft instead of cardboard boxes as they are items that will be stored and used every year.
DH was getting the Christmas tree down & he mentioned that we have a lot in the loft that could go (yipee - kondo is definitely filtering through!!) so maybe in the New year we'll hit that - it will be a marathon though.
    Happy Kondoing all x
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle
  • Happy Birthday VJsmum, and hope your Dad is better, Mav.

I just keep plugging away, small things at moment (RL), I find it 'interesting' that items keep popping into my mind that I can get rid of.

Another Xmas lunch today - brilliant.

    Have a nice weekend. H.
