  • Yuk - mice are cute in stories and picturebooks, yes, but they have rather nasty habits!

Welcome Joyfully, this thread is a little quieter than usual, no doubt because everyone's busy with Christmas stuff, but it's a huge support. Many of us have found that MK has worked where decluttering, Flylady and other systems just haven't had an effect. I'm still not as tidy as I'd like to be but life is so much easier. Start with your knicker drawer, that's what most of us did! :rotfl:

  • Thank you Polly! I have already done the clothes part (3 bags to the homeless, 3 bags to Ty Hafan, 1 bag rubbish). I also did the airing cupboard which needs tweaking and the Christmas deccies!
I love reading all the posts xxx

Woo hoo! I currently have nothing to list on ebay :D (I have about 4 items to re-list - a 20 second job - they are perhaps a little too unusual/ specialist for donating to a CS)

Next year I am planning on donating more and selling less. Whilst the money is always useful (any sales at the mo got to Florida holiday fund) sometimes the space is of more benefit :)

  • *waves* welcome to Joyfully Feel free to just start posting, no need to read the whole thread first :)

I have my christmas tree up :) I might thin out some decorations, although I really don't have many. I'm currently working on a scarf for my mum - it counts as kondoing my craft supplies ;) I intend to get a few bags to a CS or recycling this week.

I'm finding I'm wibbling between feeling overwhelmed by stuff and getting rid of things just for the sake of it. Yet I feel better with less stuff, and so far I haven't regretted anything that has gone. I suspect this is a confidence wibble which will settle with some considered kondoing.....

so back to crochet I go! Best wishes to all x

  • Hi

Emergency KonMari question! Just about to start my clothes having read the book over the weekend. What do i do about t shirts that spark joy but I haven't worn in ages, they are more sentimental really than 'clothing' but in amongst my clothing so want to do them now.

    Very new to this

    Thanks!!

Will seeing them when you open the drawer/wardrobe make you feel joyful? Is it their presence or their memories that sparks joy?

  • I've nearly finished sorting now and its interesting, as I've gone through there were two in the 'sentimental' category I instantly picked up and put in the keep pile and the others I have put in a pile to sort right at the end (I've just got tights and thermals left :-/). So maybe that is telling me something!

But maybe I'm just not ready to deal with them yet, I could put them in a pile ready for sentimental items at the end of the process. I am nervous about making a decision I'll regret as they are so unique I'll never get them back.
  • Keeping them in a to decide later box seems like a good compromise to me, you can go back to them at any time. Kondoing is deliberately set up so the sentimental items are at the end when you are more used to the process

  • If they make you feel joyful, I'd say keep them - as the process goes on, you'll gain confidence and you may feel ready to let them go.
If you love them but don't want to wear them, what about displaying them in frames or maybe making them into a quilt or cushion covers or something?

  • Thanks so much for your great responses. I have reduced my clothes by 20% (chucking out 37 items). I have put the t shirts in an empty box that used to have clothes in and will come back to them towards the end.

I've subscribed to the thread and I'm sure I'll be back here when I do books!!
