  • Have had a little kondo in the conservatory getting rid of the dirt and some old knick knacks that the cats have destroyed. I also emptied a box of junk and have filled it with dvds. Also found that the lava lamp in there didn't work properly and smelt weird. Oh agreed it could go straight away. Recycled days out leaflets as all the info is on line anyway and got rid of Manchester maps. We had three and I just use my phone now. Feeling good. Still haven't got xmas tree or decs up as had in laws round for lunch which was enjoyable.

  • I have just applied MK to the Christmas tree ornaments with amazing success. I realised that there were several that just don't excite me. Some of them are quite new but they don't spark joy. (Some old tatty ones, some of which are older than me, spark enormous joy on the other hand). I also realised that I don't have to hang everything up just because it's there.

Another CS bag is filled, going to get it round there tomorrow so there's a chance they'll be able to sell them before Christmas. Now I need to do the same with the fairy lights ... a secret guilty addiction.

Been under the weather since Friday & virtually no proper Kondoing done. Like GQ I did manage to get rid of spent batteries in Aldi, I've read a book that can be passed on & written a load of Christmas cards ready to be posted and sorted some more of the bag of jeans but that's about it. Hopefully I'll manage to get something out the door tomorrow. I'm at the stage where there's plenty waiting to go but all in different directions!!!

  • Morning all
Kondoed a big box of stuff to the CS over the weekend, glass table top put on freecycle and 8 bags of circa 1980s muscle and fitness mags went out for paper recycling so that's another load out of the attic.
Taking some spare Christmas crackers in to work today for the special table on Friday.
Have cards to hand deliver, a gift to post and another to take into work today so stuff is still leaving just not really in the correct order.
Threw away a skein of embroidery thread this morning not sure if it had died in storage or was just a cheap one but it was falling apart as I stitched so unpicked what I'd done and binned the thread so I won't make that mistake again.
Christmas stocking finished so that will be leaving the house next week. Really pleased with how it's turned out.

Work is calling now so best make a move.

    Have a joyful day all.

:j Yes, frame this bolded bit immediately.

How often do we keep something just because it's already there? I know I've had things in my life which I wouldn't replace if something happened to them. Heck, I might not even notice if something happened to them, you could probably selectively rob most of our homes and, as long as you didn't make a mess, we might never notice stuff had been taken.

I came across this concept on a blog - The Lost or Stolen Test.

As in, if this item were lost or stolen would I replace it?

    1. Yes! Within days, it's that important to me.

    2. Errr, I'm not sure, I'll have to think about it.

    3. Umm, I didn't even remember even owning one of those, you sure that was in here?:o

  • Bag went to the chazza this afternoon - I couldn't even tell you which ornaments were in it. My tree is still very sparkly and shiny (I'm of the view that Christmas isn't about good taste!) and I hope someone going into the CS tomorrow will be thrilled to find some joyful new ornaments. I'm really hoping that when its time to put the decs back in the loft itll be down to one crate, not two!

PWD don't be surprised if you kondo more next year! I halved mine in April at the start of my kondo journey and when I got them out this weekend I still thought 'why did I keep that?!'

Am looking forward to doing more serious kondoing over Christmas as am off work and haven't done much recently due to RL getting in the way.

I keep up with the thread and enjoy reading about everyone's journeys - keep up the great work everyone and best wishes to you all
2019, move forward with positivity! I am the opposite of Eyeore :rotfl:

Returned from trip last night and kondoed all paperwork to recycling as I unpacked rather than put it on my desk. All Christmas cards posted or delivered (more organised this year and managed to hand deliver a lot). Just have neighbours cards to pop in doors.
One full bag for CS will go this week. Have small people today so will see if they are up for sorting playroom toys.

  • Good morning! I have read The Book and this thread for a while (only 100 pages left to go!).
The timing is perfect as I am recovering from long term sick and this has helped immensely giving me some structure!
I look forward to joining in and getting to know you all! 😄

I re-organised the attic last weekend. Some bits got taken out for the cs, some thrown away, dds tried on several new-to-them items, wooden puzzles are ready cellophane wrapped for the kindergarten, all dh's computer and electronics stuff is put in a large cardboard box (I just threw it in higgledy-piggledy - his stuff-his problem), and I think I'm ready to let go of 2 chandeliers that were in my old house and need some repairs to be usable again.

The mice had gone wild in the rag bag, but nowhere else, as far as I can see, and I've put up 2 mouse traps. Not looking forward to checking them, as I actually think mice are cute (but not when in my attic!).
