well, as my Nan used to say when someone behaved strangely, 'There's nowt so queer as folk'. (hope this is isn't misinterpreted!).

    I just logged on quickly
    i) to ask how iQueen is - we've been thinking of you and hope you are doing OK
    and
ii) to let my Kondo-ing pals know that I am about to Kondo my job. I applied for Voluntary redundancy last year but they wouldn't let me go. I applied again a couple of months' ago and have just had an email saying they have accepted my application and my notice meeting will be next week :):):)

I am busy making plans for Spring when I will be released (if that sounds like getting out of prison, it sure feels like it sometimes!) because I will have to have an income to keep the wolf from the door, I'm too young to retire completely!!!!

Hope all are well. Will reply to other posts when I get a more calm moment.

I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.
  • I think I have solved the problem of some friendships drifting away.
Its too easy to say "we will meet up" and then life gets in the way.
I always agree the next time I am going to see someone when we are together.
So even if we then get to that point in 3 months time and have to rearrange, we actually do rearrange and meet.
It certainly has worked for me.
  • Oh wow MMF
    That is my dream
    just let me go .................soon............please.........

  • Energy crash here :( Minimal kondoing. A friend I payed to do some cleaning got some fabric away with her, got another friend coming to do the same tomorrow but don't think I'm up to doing much at all. Instead of cleaning it might be help folding clothes.

Views on OHs coming on board - I think some people around me are starting to get rid of some more things, The bf is certainly making noises about thinning through belongings.

More generally, I've had 2 tipping points over the last year with kondoing. But atm, my flat feels a heavier and more oppressive again. I'm quite aware this may be more to do with my currently low(ish) mood and energy levels. Hoping the help will start to make things feel better again.

Still looking around for things to get rid of. Really, really just sick of feeling carp

:) I hope your energy lifts a bit soon, dragonette. I know that feeling well and it's the pits. What helped me sometimes is saying to myself; this too will pass.

Another helper might sound a bit odd but, for me, is to bring something like a vibrant bunch of flowers or a vivid plant into my room. It's as if it brings energy with it.

Haven't been kondo-ing as such this past fortnight as have been having a really heavy time at work and came in and just laid on the couch feeling wan yesterday - had exhausted my reserves. Today will be better. I'm going to be busy about stuff with friends but it'll be a different kind of busy to my job.

Keep your spirits up, one and all.

MMF - kondoing job was best thing I ever did - I got VR on second request as well. Unexpected opportunities came up the following year to fill the gap. Now retired again although doing some voluntary stuff.
Away again now and still have Christmas presents to buy. Away Christmas but have specific list of things to take agreed with daughter so no need for all the excessive Justin Case food shopping.
Loft, papers and photos to do still but gradually being thinned out. A few more Christmas decorations to CS. Only kept a few spare nice ones in box once tree was decorated.
Home from 14-23 so will try and have a revisit around the house and then tackle those last groups after Christmas. Plan to do MINS game in February and to try and lose another stone before US trip in April.

Morning all, well done mmf on kondoing the job, hope it brings a bright future for you.

Mavvymoo so sad to hear your cousin not been in touch, you must be worried with them being so far away.

Feeling yuck at mo, after meal and wine on weds, came home and was sick, thought I may have over indulged but then spent the whole day yesterday shivering and being sick. Over the worst now I think, have managed to keep a slice of toast down, this morning.
Hope all well as dgs has a solo in school concert at church later, which I am really looking forward to.i love to watch the children perform they really brighten your day x

  • Hello Everyone, I've not been on the boards properly for quite some time. Dipping my toes back in (long story, maybe for another time) anyhoo, my house has become a storing ground afer the "empty" of my Mum's house, I discovered Konmarie and the burden of guilt has been lifted, I felt like I had to keep every nic nac that Mum had ever kept, and there was a lot! I'm slowly working my way through after a year of not going into the rooms that had turned into a mini shrine/storage area.... I will be going through the books next, although when we cleared the house, hundreds went on the bonfire, I have kept all the gorgeous looking craft books that Mum loved, I will decide if they bring me joy or am I keeping them with a sense of duty! dtms?

So, here I am, an old style Ex Flyer, who knows that life is too short to hoard and let your children end up clearing your wonderful collections of "potential" antiques of the future (none of which are!)
    xx

Yep, still v excited about the big change in employment status in Spring! GrannyKate, you certainly sound like you make the most of your 'free' time :T

Dragonette (love that name, BTW!), you sound like you have done loads already so don't worry about progress slowing down. You can up it again when you feel better. I know it's hard when you get very down. I am sending you some good vibes in case that will help any.
Can you do a tiny bit of the crafts you are good at, just as a tonic to tide you over?

Deedee73, wow, it must have been hard but you are right, KM is getting a lot of us away from the guilt ( I am sure our relies wouldn't actually expect us to keep every one of their possessions,
after all I bet they hadn't kept all their inheritances?!).

GQ, I like the sound of bringing energy in with something alive or vibrant. That's almost woo, watch out!

Wort, feel better soon, it's the weekend now :D

have a more joyous weekend everyone,

    M
I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.
