    :) Evening all.

Wow, am reading and nodding along, thinking of how so many of us have had similar experiences, such as the one-sided inexplicable fallings-out with former friends, the mementoes which however battered are treasures and various other things.

Although I usually snort with laughter at the hippie-dippy side of life, I have come to the conclusion that sometimes things just come to you, when you are ready to hear them or people come into your life when you are ready to meet them.

The chance conversation which grew into a deep friendship, the turning on a road which brought you and someone significant together, the book seen at random and picked up in an idle moment. All of these can be pivots; one of my pivots was discovering minimalism and another was finding this thread, the first place I ever heard of KM.

I'm insecure about some things. Part of it is that my life is a bit precarious, due to being single, on a low income and having poor health. But most of it is a perception of insecurity rather than an actuality.

I've come to understand that this is part of my pyschological makeup rather than a reflection of reality. I cannot make myself more secure by hanging onto Stuff, and acquiring more Stuff. I actually make myself more insecure; less flexible, less outgoing, more inward-looking and risk adverse than I could be.

:D I've decided that 2016 will be a year of More; more experiences, more interests, more everything intangible and life-enhancing.

There will still be Less Stuff, of course.:rotfl:

Bootload of stuff delivered to the CS today, which is a relief as first it was cluttering up the hall as it was collected, and then the car after it was moved. Now I can move the car stuff back into the car...

I have no idea what was in the bags... I've been meaning to take them for weeks, but haven't had an opportunity. As I needed to find mobile phone reception today for a work phone sim swap, I decided the CS warehouse was the place to do it :)

Another bag ready for CS tomorrow, 4 huge coffee cups, 1 Tarte (melt) burner and 2 Tartes (melts) cannot be bothered faffing around with this, I just buy lovely fragranced tee lights these days, 2 skirts - love both, but too big now.

In all honesty the bedroom of doom won't take long to sort out, it is just stuff that needs a proper home or out, but it is very much in the area that the TV engineer would need to work in and I am not goind down the alternative route of bunging it in a box and moving it somewhere else, which is what I would have done in the past:eek:

It is early days, but I think that already I am feeling a slight increase in my energy levels, keeping fingers crossed:D:

    Hugs to all :grouphug:

My heart goes out to all those who've been affected by the floods, if only we could pass on some of belongings to those who lost so much.

I feel very blessed after reading some of the recent posts, I have kondoed through but feel they need checking again, my home is tidy my Xmas Dec's are up and cards written. I only have 1 friend who I have lost touch with,we used to meet once a week when she lived round the corner now she moved 5 years ago and although I've tried to ask her round and phoned , (when she seems eager to visit) we never meet up. I understand when it was said you feel like you did something wrong ,I definitely do.
Tomorrow after work I will meet with the ladies of my family for our annual meal out, this was originally started by my mum and luckily has continued after she passed away. I will be able to give out Xmas cards, though I will come back with piles more!:rotfl:
Dh birthday is this Friday, so will need to find a spot for his cards first!!
I haven't done any major kondoing but am still throwing at will anything I come across that doesn't spark joy! :)
Defrosted large freezer in garage in readiness for Xmas food, I don't buy any extra apart from what is needed for Xmas lunch for 12. I will keep an eye out for bargains that can be frozen.
Hope everyone stays safe and warm.

What lovely posts are on here. And thank you all for accepting mine - I've been reading for a while now, but I don't often post on this thread, I suppose because I do things bit by bit - paying big attention to the kitchen right now, I suppose with Christmas coming up, and a dehydrator to find a home for.

And yes, this has helped me to hear it, I haven't done anything wrong. Heading in different directions, yes, and that's okay.

    Thank you again.

Kondoing for me feels like a flow, like those buddhist prayer bells that you give a hard push to get them started and then only light pushes to keep them going. Or like riding a bicycle on an even road; it takes force to get started, but only light pedalling to keep going.

The people around you push you on, and you push them on. You can have a few around that need more than just the light touch, and that won't slow you down, unless they grind to a halt or you have too many heavy movers (not weight-related!) in your life that you don't have the time or energy left to keep the other bells/bikes turning.

I was going to say 'spinning plates', but decided the image was far too active and nerve wrecking. I really mean that when your life is kondoed everything in it has a flow, there is a logical, intuitive system to it.

I love the Buddhist bell analogy- so much more soothing than the image of lots of spinning plates!

Managed to KM some Christmas decorations as I did my tree today. Got rid of all paperwork from trip away today as soon as I arrived home. Couple of items (trousers and socks) which were uncomfortable stayed behind in hotel bin.

  • I'm currently feeling a little bit unsettled, which has a few causes. A friend has come back wishing to re-establish a previous connection, another is needing careful care atm and my flat feels messy (it would be 20 mins work to sort). Part of this is christmas pressies I need to wrap and which can then sit next to the tree I'll put up this week to hand out as people visit.

Only small bits to do, yet I feel very flat about it all. I think its my low energy levels making it all seem like lots of work. Nevermind, it always looks better in the morning :)

What a great analogy! Thanks for that.

Can I just say what a relief it is to know that other people have 'friends' like that! I have some really good friends, and as I'm single friendship is a really important element of my life, but once or twice (once very recently) I've been dumped by people for no apparent reason. I'm fairly resilient, and I shrug my shoulders and consider it their loss, but it still hurts.

I fibbed about being finished - I've just got the Christmas decorations down. Two storage crates worth and I reckon I use about 1/4. Guess what I'm gonna Kondo tomorrow ... and I'm looking forward to it!
    Never thought I'd say that.
