  • No matter how hard I tried I could never get the work surface in the utility room clear. I kept coming back to it time and time again
So 3 weeks ago I did the whole room, found places for everything and shifted 3 boxes of stuff to the charity shop as well as lots to the bin.
Now the whole worktop is clear nothing gets left on it and it has stayed like that for the last three weeks
    It works !
  • Yes it is quiet, I expected to catch up on pages of posts when I logged on today. I was away at a lovely wedding this weekend so not much kondoing here except some celebratory glasses of wine and lovely food on the day itself.
I stopped by my Mum's on the way home on Sunday and had a bit of a heart-to-heart with her about various things. Lovely Mum. She is so wonderful. I have introduced her to Marie Kondo and she proudly showed off some of her recent successes.
I removed two bags of paper and other recycling this morning on my way out to work.

Last night I watched a bit of Youtube before bed and came across a channel that I've seen before - Clutterbug (I can't link as YT is not accessible from wrok PC). She's doing a 12 days of Clutter challenge in the run up to Christmas - declutter at least 12 items each day in particular places/categories (bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, paperwork etc). She's already 6 days in so I'm a bit behind but there are 18 days till Christmas so I might start it now, albeit a bit late and try and run through til Christmas.

  • It is quiet, isn't it. I have to confess to buying 2 things - one rug and one display case. The rug fits in beautifully and the display case is flat pack and not put together yet. Flat is still easier to tidy and clean :)

I haven't managed any proper kondo'ing at all yet, all the little bits are adding up though. A change in meds has left me in bed for much of the last week, which I'm pretty philosophical about - and there's only about 30 mins of work to get my sources tidy. Got 2 different friends coming in to help clean this week

i am going to buy a display case (or two) too. OH and DS have a collection of Hornby engines that are just shoved in a set of plastic drawers. They are rather lovely (not to mention expensive) things that should be displayed, so - much to OH's shock - I have suggested we display them...

Maybe we have to conclude that there is no kondoing in December?

Too much interference from RL? Every December I have to work unpaid overtime, for others to meet their targets and get their bonus (yeah....), have St Nicolas to prepare for dds (and a little bit for dh and me), my birthday, christmas, 10 days at my parents' place, musical to visit with dds, friend's all-day birthday party, weekend away with dh, and a few I've forgotten... I don't want to kondo those! Even the unpaid overtime is okay, I usually take time in lieu, and come in 15 minutes late for the next few weeks :) I wouldn't want the positions of the people I help, far too much pressure and responsibility, and the real chance of getting sacked if you don't make your target.

I am not kondoing properly atm, I am struggling to get the housework up to date and the clutter tidied (low energy plus someone has generously given me a rotten head and chest cold). It occurred to me the other day that the reason I keep putting off getting the TV man in to install something more stable (freesat probably) is that my bedroom is in such a pickle that I wouldn't want him to go in there:o, not like the hoarding programmes, but too untidy. I have had a few sessions between coughing fits and have earmarked so far 15 items for the CS and 11 items of toiletries etc for the refuge.

Back from a couple of weeks away. Been catching up with thread in between doing jobs at home. Big thanks to grunnie and floss for the Hotpoint recall info - I wouldn't have known about it otherwise and it turns out mine is one of the models affected. Don't want my shed catching fire as it holds my whole winter's supply of firewood .

Still Kondoing things as I come across them and OH has taken a box to the CS today and dropped off some books for me yesterday. Didn't finish the mins game last month but am still keeping a list of what goes. Extracted wisdom tooth, anyone? I've kept it for 25 years - what for???

Today's find is a very large bag of not very nice pot pourri which I was given 10 years ago for Christmas from a rellie of ex. Again, no idea why I've been keeping it. Getting rid has freed up so much space, yippee!

I still have all my Christmas present shopping to do and cards to write and post which I plan to get done this week.

I'm kondo-ing as I find things at the mo, rather than proper category kondo-ing. December is busy with Christmas prep, DD's (18th!!) birthday, the usual parties/ lunches/ nights out, meeting up with friends and increased activities for the children (parties, camps etc) - plus two weeks where I'm working most days - means there's no time to kondo properly - plus kondo-ing properly means making a mess to start with when gathering it all up - and I don't want to be doing that at the mo - just the opposite!

Category KMing will recommence in earnest in January! :D:D

I'm working full time till Christmas so don't have much time to kondo, but over the weekend we had a major blitz in ds2s room and loads of Junk went. Inspired by that ds1 pulled everything it from under his bed and asked for it all to go in the attic:eek:not a chance sunshine!I am now tasked with going through said stuff and weeding out obvious kondo fodder before boxing it for him to deal with later.
Got a bag going for the CS which will leave the house next weekend. A load of secret Santa gifts got posted and most of the cards I've written have left the house.
Did loads of tidying over the weekend as well, and cleared the ironing basket.
Dh commented how much better the house feels now we are clearing stuff out. Must admit I'm sleeping loads better since we moved the room and cleared stuff out.

:) I've been a bit rubbish at kondoing lately as have had some heavy days at w*rk followed by a busy weekend and several hours with my nose stuck in books.

But, on the plus side, have finished several books and added them to the donation bag which I will try to get out this coming weekend. Going to be too tired for a few days to do much more than work-eat-sleep etc but have further plans for the photo albums.

The easy pickings have left, it's the hard stuff (or, the stuff which is tidily contained, but still karp) which is still awaiting attention.

Keep up the good work, folks, I'm cheering along with you.
