Kondoing friends ... its an interesting one. I tend to hold on to people longer than I should, I've now discovered. And this year, I was literally kondoed by a friend who got cancer and stopped seeing me because she didn't want to listen to what anyone else had to say about their own stuff. She didn't offer to send out email updates, and I was so shocked I didn't ask.

This last few months, I've had the strength to mostly focus on what I want, and my recovery to health, though I've had a few challenges in the last week thats meant thats stalled :(

I will get there, in spite of the stall, but I can't describe how shocked I am that I haven't been taking enough care of myself about this, I really thought I was. Kondoing can really be a lifesaver.

Yesterday I came home after a 12-hour work day, found dh lying on the sofa, watching a film, the kitchen still a mess, dd1's homework not properly checked and not signed off, items I had asked dh to buy - unbought ... (in case youre wondering, the 'd' in dh does not stand for 'dear' in this sentence). As I was putting away stuff I muttered to myself: "I don't have time for a messy house!"

Today is another long day, 13 hours of concentrated work. It's not really difficult, but does require full attention and there is a deadline. My dcolleagues always make sure it's a tight deadline, and it's up to me to make miracles happen.

  • I kondoed half a drawer as I was holding on to some clothes in case I lost weight but I realised looking at them did not bring me joy. So I only have clothes left I fit into right now.:) They went to a charity shop for a thinner woman to enjoy.:D

I was able to move some things around in the chest of drawers so everything looks very tidy.:A

M lovely neighbour of nearly 40 years is moving on Friday (downsizing) but only about a mile away. I shall miss her being so close. She's just asked for my opinion on some of her clothes - whether to keep or go. Only one thing keeping!! She did say she knew I would be objective ;) Shame i'm not so good with my own stuff though.......:(

Today I have got rid of 2 printers (both working) to the CS - one was my late m-I-l's and the other was ours but we have bought a different one (more functions) through the business. I could have potentially sold ours for about £60 but the hassle of listing it on ebay and having it collected (maybe) was not joy-inducing. Instead, delivering it to the CS 5 mins drive away was far better. I also posted 2 parcels (totalling almost 10KG!!) of photos to b-I-l - they were pics of his mum and his kids which I've had here since she died 3 months ago. It's not my job to sort them for him, so I shipped them all! That got rid of a large and ugly storage box in which they were sitting.:T Finally, I shipped 2 ebay parcels and a box of unwanted books to Ziffit :D Oh - and emailed the local person about collecting a bag of various items for Operation Xmas Child.

Tomorrow I shall be delivering some unwanted toiletries and more books to my voluntary job, along with the (now clean) washing which I brought home from there on Monday :)

I am sitting here, though, despairing at the amount of things still around. There are 6 of us, granted, and children do mean a certain amount of stuff.... but am feeling overwhelmed today. Think I'm overtired in the very busy run up to Xmas (husband works away in the week and it's a busy time of year for evening activities for the kids, plus I've been dealing with workmen - and I don't like doing that!):p

Glad you had a joyous day mavvymoo
Very windy day here. I went to morries supermarket
    They don't charge for trollies.
I went to the trolley park and there wasn't any small ones. there.
I spotted some through the car park so I brought 4 back to the store entrance. Some elderly shoppers were realising there weren't any
So I was a welcome sight bringing a few back with me.
Lots of people just bring one to do their own shopping but it just takes a small act of kindness to help someone out.

I kondoed a mini hi fi that' wasn't getting used it has lived in the dining room for years. So off to the chazzer today.
Even though you are kondoed pretty much you are sometimes blind to stuff that you've given room too for years.

Greent please cut yourself a bit if slack your doing fine.
I've posted before that I had very little money bringing up my boys
Xmas for us was just enjoying the stuff you can't buy.
They are small for such a short time don't worry about a bit mess.
    It's ok your ok

No -- it's not just you. But it is my husband, who seems to think it's ok for paint and tools to be in the house. not all paint, just the stuff where he is going to "just touch up that wall" or whatever. But never gets round to it. And when i say i'll do it, says "no, i'll do it at the weekend". I don't know why i fall for it....

I have pretty much finished the christmas shopping. :T There are a few bits for the kids to get, and a couple of online vouchers but otherwise I'm there. So happy - I just decided not to overthink it - it really is the thought that counts and SiL won't mind if it's a voucher or some wine, for eg. Feels good to know that the pressure is off....

Such a change from Previous years
I wanna be in the room where it happens

Yeay for getting there! I have given edible/ drinkable stuff to quite a few people this year and printed out little decorated notes to go inside the parcels saying that we are giving mainly consumable gifts this year as people generally have enough 'stuff'. It's worded better than that, though! :D

Difficult to think of joyful things *today* in particular, because this is my heavy work day - but (1) work went spectacularly well, I was sick with worry and the effort I put in really paid off, and (2) I managed to get out into the garden and do a little bit of weeding before it got dark. Only a bit, but it meant a lot. (3) my John Lewis order from the weekend has arrived! Sister's Christmas present, and a lunette thingy that helps you rub in pastry - someone on here can give me even more joy by remembering what it's called :):):)
