I give you permission to remove that shawl say thank you but you are history and I am moving on into the future and chuck the invisable shawl out of your front door and slam the door shut and dont let it back on your shoulders anytime soon :D

It will make you feel so much better.Think of the good things you have done in your life and if you really think about it they will make up for the bad I promise ;)

Ah, thanks so much Mav, I have cut out this bit and pasted it into my little document of quotes and wise thoughts, that I read when I drive myself into a frenzy of self-torment.

I like the idea of throwing the shawl out the front door. I think I will do a little visualisation of the shawl blowing away in the wind, never to be seen again :).

As you say, there is nothing we can do about the past but these thoughts keep coming back. I think it is partly because I am unhappy in lots of ways anyway and so I dwell on how things might have been different.

Enough of this - I will finish with one of the quotes from my document:
"Regrets...regrets are bootless. A vain trick of the mind. An impotent raging against what cannot be changed anyway. A distraction from the moment". (Andrew Ashling - The invisible chains)

And went and spent some quality time with a friend over coffee instead :D Much better way of kondoing the day ;)

I spent time with a friend today having a coffee and a chat, when I should have been cleaning the kids' bathroom (which is a foul and fetid place right now ). Oh, and I baked some cakes.

    Love the poem :).

Great poem. Thanks for the blog link, GQ.
:p Thanks be to missyrichards, I never even heard of it until I followed the link she posted.

Have a full-on week ahead of me so don't think much kondo-ing will be done over the next 4 days. In fact, beyond eating and sleeping and essential personal maintenance/ chores, I doubt anything will be done at all.

Never mind, I shall enjoy reading about all your exploits. Keep the faith!

Loving all the stories thank you, gives me a chuckle each day.

Mins Game finished yesterday with the decision to let go of a top that I only wore because it fitted, it did nothing for me and certainly didn't spark joy. I also kondo'd 4lbs over the last week so having started my weight loss journey I will be able to wear clothes that were tight but joy sparkers soon.

Have enjoyed doing Mins Game and will Carry On Kondoing in December, there's still work to be done!!
Keep Calm and Carry On Kondoing

peaceandfreedom. When I worked at a very high pressure sales job. This is what we had to do:D Every morning when we arrived at work we had to put our stress, problems and junk which was in our heads in a bag and leave it on the doorstep. You would see people including myself doing all the motions of putting it down and feeling the lightness as you walked up the stairs.

I really did work and to see your shawl blowing away will give you that feeling.

I am sorry that you feel unhappy all you can do is change one small thing at a time baby steps and all that. But you need to get too the nitty gritty of the problem which is very hard. You have to dig very very deep and thats not easy. Somedays when I went though this process I was in floods of tears all day and somedays I felt like I was floating on a cloud I was so high on the process.

But please dont think the MK has nothing to do with how you are feeling as I will say 100% it has ;) It leaves you very exposed with almost no where to go.So you have to deal with the issues even if you dont really want too.

You are on the rollercoster which is 'kondo' all depends if you wanna stay on really ;) I hope you do as you will get to the end it will just take a while but remember we are all on it with you no matter how 'together' we appear on screen ;)

Even better would be to leave the stresses and strains of work on its doorstep as you leave and go home with a clear head

Peaceandfreedom - I second it - get off the train..... and walk towards Peace and Freedom..

More photos today - need to Kondo some work too (how ironic given my first comment, it's my day off..... :()

Well done Loopy chris - satisfying isn't it?

I am getting rid of so many photos that Min's game would be a cinch...

Many years ago I was on a work course & the instructor was also NLP trained. She said something that really resonates with me and still does about the little voice on your shoulder who always tells you what you did wrong/didn't do/should have done etc but is never there when you achieve anything & never congratulates you. Don't listen to that nasty jealous voice that never does anything but demoralise and depress. You have the power to choose how you feel.
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle
  • Very wise words. i love the shawl image!

Today I am very joyfully going Christmas shopping. I'm going to meet my sister at a Shopping Place, I will buy coffee and possibly cake ;)

I will also buy a couple of items that are on my list, I know the recipient wants them and they are budgeted for. I may buy some small 'stocking filler' items (my sisters and I still do Christmas stockings for each other, even though they're both pensioners and I'm fast approaching!). I don't often go to Big Shops these days.

It will be joyful because I am not desperately trying to buy the 'right' thing - the gift that will make me look good. I will not be buying perfume, party clothing (who the heck goes to all these parties?) or so-called gift packs. I will spend time chatting to my sister, more coffee and cake may be consumed. I will not be bringing anything into the house that isn't destined to leave again shortly as a gift.
MK has simplified my life in so many ways.

Agree - I don't think Parties like you see in adverts ever really exist. Maybe the odd swish office work do.....

Was looking at gift packs as i browsed the shops on Sunday - so much money when you can do them yourself. One place was charging £4 for hot chocolate for 2 people - it was a couple of scoops of HC in cone shaped cellophane, topped with mini marsh mellows and chocolate shavings. I reckon I could do that for 50p - so i will for my dad who has a hamper every year that i make up. Odds and s0ds of biscuits, choccies, chutneys, maybe a nice book, crossword puzzles and HM christmas cake. i am going to put in HM fudge, and some of that Hot choc. The "hamper" is an A3 paper box lid covered in christmas wrapping paper and filled with shredded paper. wrap in cellophane with silver ribbon. I reckon shops would charge £50 for that.

My birthday is the week before xmas so i get double pressies  my friend is getting me a scarf so, in preparation, I have got rid of 3 scarves and 2 belts.:p
