Haha, thanks Silvasava, now I've got an 'earworm' too - only I'm not going to Antigua, Barbados or anywhere near there!
Mavvy my sympathies on the Siberian Hamster - had one in the hen run earlier this year and it really upset me, I think in your case the idea that I'd picked up the sack with it inside would have me washing my hands like Lady Macbeth!
I re-read The Book yesterday about photos. She says the only way to do it is to take each one out of the album. Gulp - that's what I was hoping to avoid!Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0 -
Spoke to Mum this evening and she mentioned that she had got the heavy warm cotton sheets on her bed, those which had been stored in a loft suitcase for at least 20 years. And how warm and lovely they are.
She'd bought some new warm sheets from JL because she'd forgotten she had these, and the new sheets are far inferior to the old ones, which are probably 1960s vintage. They are far warmer, thicker and hold to the mattress better than modern sheets, even though they were part-used when they were put away.
Makes you think, hey?Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

thats what I am doing. It takes a long time... But I have reduced by more than half....
New washing machine arrived, delivery men actually said "To me, to you" :rotfl:
Oh and OH has decided his old cameras can go :TI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Good idea to dye some of the towels, thanks MrsMP. Thinking about it, I could do two different colours to mix n match the towels, that would be joyful!
I too am determined that if I find joyful replacements for items I need I will buy them and set the originals free for others to use (funds permitting). Not planning extravagances but will have joy in mind, rather than 'making do'.
Trying not to think about the rat, Mav......brrrrr.
Enjoy your evening. Tomorrow is another Kondo opportunity!

Have had another day at home protecting the cats from the plumber! Took a carload of stuff to the charity shop who didn't want the books so need to drive around a bit more with them in the boot.
OH said earlier " you've been very busy tidying and sorting out " to which I just smiled! We still need to sort out the study which is tantalising close to being done!
I have had a go at sorting photos but didn't realise marie wanted you to get everyone out of the album. Jeez that's tough.Grocery Challenge Feb 16 £346 /4000 -
Day 18 - 13 items
1. Colander
2-6. Nail varnishes (I haven't used it since daughter got married in June last year!)
7. Sellotape and dispenser excess to needs
8. Plastic wallet/case thing
9. Decorative cardboard box - hard to part with but can't think of a use for it
10. Pencil case
11. Wine holder
12. Annoying bit of thread that was unravelled on the ribbon on a door stop. Been looking at it for about 3 weeks so finally decided to cut it off. Took about 3 seconds and I'd waited 3 weeks to do it!
13. Fleece sweatshirt
Will admit to some 'ins' today: a very joyful pot (gazzunder) to put plants in, this will go in the cabin and the unjoyful one I have will be kondo'ed. A wooden kitchen roll holder that I had been wanting for the cabin; and a very joyful, plastic gold glittery bath to put things in, i.e. toiletries. I think I've kondoed enough this month to allow 2 extra items in!!!
Hope the rat has disappeared Mav, wouldn't fancy coming across one of those in the car! Sounds like it has gone though from what you've said.Keep Calm and Carry On Kondoing

Morning all
Had the most joyful night last night
Ds1 told me at lunchtime friends who hed bought tickets for cos they were driving had now said they couldn't go and he was running out of people to ask.
I'm quite partial to a bit of frank turner when the lads play it but Dh isn't so keen. Anyway told him to ask his dad. I dropped large hint first that Ds would be losing about £100 if tickets got wasted so Dh agreed we would all go. It was excellent. In fact I'd go so far as to as one of the most woo things we've done!
If you haven't ever listened to any of FTs music I'd suggest it is quite woo and in keeping with MKs views. It's all about doing what makes you happy and not "wasting 50 years of your life doing something that you hate". To quote some lyrics.
Plus he had guidedog pups in the foyer and was encouraging people to give them money.
even Dh said he'd changed his mind about him and had a good night.
Work all day today so better get a shift on.
Have a joyful day all
Mavvy glad ratty appears to be gone.SPC~12 ot 124

What a great bit of Woo MrsMP
Saw The Lady in the Van last night & really enjoyed it. Maggie Smith is able to convey so many emotions without saying a word. Tremendous actress.
Not much Kondoing today as I'm at our local Age Concern centre for a few hours helping some ladies with their computer skills & then going to Yoga later - I'll see if I can squeeze some in - even if its just a CS visit!
Have a good day all xSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Pfffff. Photos. I am so sick of photos already. Our Leader is right (of course!) in that taking them out of albums is necessary, I had flicked through the albums and removed a few but as soon as I started taking them out, I discarded another 100 or so. That's taken me nearly two hours, heaven knows how long it'll take to put them back, and I suspect a few more will be culled in that process.
Can't decide how to sort them - chronologically looks most likely but I'm considering categorising 'family events', 'holidays' etc. Luckily, they should all fit into the albums that I already own as Kondoing revealed a brand new, empty 200 pic album. I may die of boredom before that job is over, though.
It has brought back some happy memories though, and prompted me to scan a couple for sending to old friends with their Christmas card.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0 -
We did have a sort of photos a few years ago but have since inherited all my mothers plus mil has two large suitcases of unlabelled ones. A few years ago we started doing printed books following holidays of just the best pics with text. When we take a grandchild they get a copy as well. Not cheap but makes more sense. I have a vague plan to do each of my children a personal age 0-18 book using scanned photos from our albums being selective as to which are worth keeping. Think it will be a long job but DH is photography and computer guru. I also need to do them each a family history book - when did I ever have time to go to work.2025 Decluttering Campaign 682/2025 🏅🏅🏅🏅(🏅🏅) 🌟🌟
