Regrettably the washing machine has also been Kondoed (or will be when the new one arrives tomorrow). 3 1/2 years old and "beyond economical repair" because of the way they make them apparently to keep costs down. The quoted price to repair was £225

    Shocking waste...

Sorry to hear about the wm it annoys me that they are made to be disposable now.
I'm sure something else will turn up to give you a reason for deciding to kondo your job. You are making space for something better I'm sure.

Congrats on Kondoing the job VJsmum. We'll all be wanting to hear the next instalment! What a bummer on the washing machine - I just hate this ' built in obsolescence' does no good to anyone as we just move to another manufacturer.

    Congratulations :)

Of course, you could always just stay at home, do the laundry by hand and not replace the dead WM
  • Congratulations on giving up the job. I did this earlier this year, and although there have been some challenges I've not regretted it.

I found the receipt for my machine when I Kondoed paperwork ... don't know why I'd kept it, but it allowed me to see that the machine is 11 years old. It definitely won't be worth repairing when it gives up the ghost, but it's still going ok at the moment. I'm shocked at how quickly yours has broken down. I have had bearings replaced in the past and it wasn't a major job.

Well done VJSMUM on kondoing the carry job, and many good wishes for your future- phd here you come! :j

So ridiculous that nothing seems to be repairable these days ,cheaper to get new or the things are out of date!

    Photos

I have had bearings done too, but with this machine you can't just replace the bearings. They make a sealed tank to keep manufacturing costs down, so you have to replace the whole drum unit. Parts and labour were over £200  hot point themselves confirmed this.

    Such a terrible waste...:(

  • Kondoed some unused Christmas gifts from last year to the forthcoming school Christmas fete. Have finished knitting and put together the Robin and made a little knitted stocking for the bluebirds of happiness to hang on their nest, lol I am probably the biggest kid in the school when it comes to Christmas.
Found a baseball glove when we were cleRing out the garage, it has been promised to the school pe coach so is in my handbag till I see him again.
The shoeboxes went to work with Dh this morning so they are out of my way now.
Have spoken to friend who's Dh will be doing our bathroom but not till next year so his brochure can be returned to him now we've decided what we want.
Dd1s birthday pressies all got taken over to hers at the weekend so a but more table filler left the house.
I need to get the baby knitting off the table completed so that can be sewn up and given away.
Busy again most of week so won't be kondoing much now till the weekend. We do have another load ready to take to the CS so hopefully that can go on Saturday

Dh has just gone to pick ds1 up from an open mic night he was singing at so I'd better go and get the pack ups done.
