Thank you for the link I agree with every word.

The thing I've noticed the most is the time I seem to have now to do stuff I want. I also have lost weight. Which seems incredible to say that's due to decluttering but I truly believe it. Maybe a more organised day helps. I have proper mealtimes now and don't grab n eat on the run.

We have discussed as a family what we are going to do for gifts this year and my kids have decided they aren't buying for each other (aged 25-16) but are buying little gifts for the grandkids.
We are all chipping in together to get things that will be really appreciated, ie too expensive to buy individually. So I am getting a set of proper knives for the kitchen, never had decent knives so usually attack meat etc with scissors haha. OH is getting a new motorbike helmet that he has been wanting for a while and MIL is getting a voucher for to pay for one of her coach trips next year.
From us our guys are getting things they really need rather than ridiculous wants. Oldest is getting cash towards a new bed, no2 is getting a hamper of hm goodies (it's what she wants haha) and vouchers to harass me with during the year to make more!
No3 has no idea but is hoping to learn to drive next year so might sort out lessons and no4 is getting bits for his motorbike.
This way everyone gets something that will be used and loved from the whole family rather than bits and bobs of carp...and my nice uncluttered house won't be filled up with stuff again :).

I am wearing one of my cs buys from yesterday and it is my most favourite piece of clothing, if I could only ever wear one thing again it would be this dress I love it :), and for everything that I bought yesterday at least one thing left and is bagged waiting to go to cs tomorrow and I am ridiculously happy!

If your friend really doesnt need the money or a gift, then
How about a donation in your friends name to the local homeless shelter for their Christmas meal
So she can feed a lot more than the 12 of you :)

Or if she is a supporter of your charity, then a donation towards animal food in her name
  • I think home made (fudge, biscuits, cake) is always welcome and more personal than buying something.

This year for my 'girls' evening' I've planted eight charity shop bowls with hyacinths, fingers crossed that they come up. I am pondering doing vouchers too (afternoon gardening, half a day decorating, trip out for a friend who can't drive, sewing lesson etc) - is there something you could offer your friend like that?

    Evening, Konverts!

Just caught up with my backlog of posts on here. :)

Been struggling, lately, just to keep things ticking over. Lisey Loo sent me 'woo' vibes for my aches and pains, but they were transmogrified in transit, to 'kondo woo'! :rotfl: (Thanks for the pic of 'the girls', Lisey Loo.)

I managed to off-load my old pine kitchen clock (from the CS box) to the Romany, who calls from time to time. She told me that I'll soon be feeling better - I hope this is another of her spot-on forecasts! :D

A few weeks ago, I discovered a suitcase of clothes under my bed, including 3 lambswool sweaters from the year dot. They went back in the case, because it was still warm, and I already have too many 'maybe' clothes still hanging about. :o

Anyway. today was the day, I decided, to pull out the case again and check whether the jumpers fit. Way hey! All 3 are L, and no moths, depite being in there since I moved here 26 years ago! I've concluded that 3 really warm sweaters, will just about turn over slowly enough to get washed and air-dried, to keep me constantly snug. Which means that I can discard some carp acrylic ones! Win, win! :D

I also found another 2 suitcases, under there!

I went through them and found a couple more winter-warm items, some too-small items for CS, about 20 n/new thongs, which I'll never wear again,(rag bag), a few garments (to re-purpose for baby pinfore dresses),and a dozen embroidered hankies (rag bag - kept one with my initial! :undecided)

Loved all the thoughts and advice on funerals, thanks! My children refuse to discuss my inevitable demise, sadly. I'm planning to make a DVD for my funeral - music that reminds me of each of my children, and poems that speak of my life's ethos, ending with 'my oldest son's music' - Alexander's Ragtime, Band! :rotfl:

I want to be buried, but not sure where yet - my birth place, NZ, near my father, who died aged 26, my ancestors' town in Scotland, or my family's home town? I may be able to decide more easily, when my head and home are kondoed!

As for whom to bequeath my meagre assets to, or who to trust with an LPA...

In the meantime, great inspirations from all you Konverts - well done to everyone on the journey, and those, who continue to tweak. :T

Tomorrow, I'm going in again, no matter whether it is a small victory or a major campaign. I'm going to see how much difference I can make, between now and the first anniversary of my Kondo start (January). I thought, from all the posts I read, (not on here) before starting kondoing, that I'd have finished by March 2015! :rotfl:Anyway, now I've kondoed all the recent medical appointments, I feel I'm getting my second wind! :)

One task is to clear the side table, for my Christmas tree - it hasn't been up for about 5 years! It will bring me joy, among the clutter... until it's time to dismantle it! ;)

I only send cards to my children nowadays, because it is so expensive, but I do handwrite personal letters to a few people, whom I don't often get to see. And I hate trawling round for (consumable) presents, even online. I resent knitting 'up to the wire' for family, when half the recipients, can't be bothered to thank me personally in 'The Christmas Telephone Call'! I don't donate cash to charity, because I have visions of it just going into the CEO's pay-packet! :( Bitter? Moi? Bah, humbug! :rotfl:

I like my iTwin's idea of cutting out all the consumerism - if only I were that brave!. Hey, mav, could you order an early delivery of food for your Christmas hosts - cheese selection, charcuterie, wine, meat for the freezer, connoisseur goodies... ?

Have a relaxing evening, Konverts!

Thank you konverts for all the ideas for my friend I am going to think about them all but I will do something as I cant go without a thing :rotfl:But some great ideas there :T

Been really busy today at the Animal Charity and another great day was had :D I met a lady who lives in the same place as I used to live 125 miles away from here :rotfl:Which was quite woo we even knew the same people :D It really is a small world.

Met 'Billy Griffen' the pig :rotfl:
I did purchase a pack of Christmas cards  It was great as the pack only had 4 in and I thought 'That will do me ';)

When I was sitting here this morning I thought that some of my art work no longer brings me joy I think I am either bored of looking at it or I have grown out of it. So its off the walls and 3 new paintings ordered from a local artist who I love his work is fantastic. So have ordered 3 prints and with the view of saving up to get a commission done next year :D

I only really want joy bringing stuff in here if I am staying not stuff I like but dont have the joy/love factor.

So when I get the new joy bringing pictures they will go to a framer to be framed into joy bringing frames :D

Everything in here is going to be 100% what I love no second best I would prefer just to go without and stare at blank walls :rotfl:

The shed has be whittled down to the choice of 2 so that will be ordered next week ;)

I have finally caught up with the thread
Loved the mins lists, I was reading them and desperately wanting to throw things away so I'm going back over categories I thought I had finished because they need to either be stored better or kondoed even more.
The only place in the house, apart from kids rooms, I haven't touched is the Harry Potter cupboard so I'm going to venture in there at some point this week then that should be me apart from photos.
I do think that it's going to be ongoing, especially clothes, for a while anyway and I don't think my hall will look right without at least 1 bag on the go for the cs ;)

Forgot to mention... I also corralled all my baking ingredients, that were (part of) the clutter on my kitchen worktop. They are still on the worktop (until I find a more suitable home for them), but neatly filed on end/side in one of Mr M's plastic, loose-mushroom display baskets! :D

I got 3, earlier in kondoing, (as they might be useful!), and they were free. I'm going to use another for my herbs and spices. I can foresee getting more, as they are handy as 'DIY drawers' for many/larger items on shelves or in drawers. ;)

    Ah well onwards and upwards

Although I made good progress on clothes and accessories that lived in drawers ages ago I had not done things hanging in wardrobe, we have spent a lot of time away from home this summer:j and I have a lot of problems wit pain and low energy:(

For some unknown reason today seemed to be a good time to start again, so I looked at all my tunics, cardigans, tunic/dresses and longer dresses and skirts, all rearranged neatly, I ran out of time, so a few items to be tried on tomorrow, hopefully only 1 dress and 1 boho skirt will prove to be too large to keep, although both very joy giving.

It has been lovely reading of everyone's Christmas plans. It seems that OH and I will be footloose and fancy free this year:j:j:j. Hopefully it will involve some good HM food, (trifle for OH:D), carols and Christmas songs, a walk with dearest dog, and the joy of watching her open and play with her new toys (CS) - simple souls we are:D
