Massive and gentle hugs lolly fin, I had my neighbour over in bits this morning their little DGD of only two weeks lost her fight yesterday. I knit for the local hospital anyway and have knitted for sands and simba in the past I'd already decided after this mornings hugs and conversation I wanted to do something so after Christmas I'll knit a blanket and send it off to the website you have suggested.

Hugs and gentle thoughts to all, we woke to the headlines from Paris there are really no words to describe the senselessness of it.
Supporting hugs and vibes to anyone closely affected by it.

Will try and sort some Christmas stash this afternoon. It's taking over the spare room and needs taming.

So awful what happened in Paris

Well I have been to three charity shops in town and bought myself pretty much a whole new wardrobe :). Most of the things are the kind of stuff I would have looked at before and thought oh that's too nice for me or I never go anywhere to wear something so pretty!
Well ha I have decided these things are perfect for me and I'm going to wear them everyday and look and feel amazing.
I think my feeling like this must go back to when my kids were younger and we had no spare cash but when we did it was spent on them and I only ever got cast off clothes from family members, didn't matter what it looked like as long as it fitted
I might even put some make up on!
Life's too short to be drowning in stuff and not feeling beautiful :)

I haven't been on this thread for over a month now, real life got in the way. I have only read the last 10 pages on this thread, as usual I enjoy all your conversations. Sending a big hug to those who need one.

My kondoing has consisted of using things up and trying not to buy anything. My OH and I might move over Christmas but not 100% decided yet. One positive result is that OH has got rid off 50% of the contents in the garage which is great.

    Have a nice weekend everyone.

I too hang out at Frugal Frump to Fab - 2015, another great supportive group like this one.

For many of us it is a long term work in progress, but we spur each other on to do things in small steps to make ourselves look and feel better and in lots of cases increase our self esteem and battle through illness (our own and loved ones), bereavement, job loss, relationship breakdown and all that life throws at us.

It is the little things that add up, like a dab of perfume, a good haircut, healthy food, better posture, clothes that fit and flatter our figures and personalities etc, because we are worth it - not like the common usage of the phrase in the sense that we can have/buy anything we want, but we need to value and take care of ourselves otherwise how will others be able to value us, or how will we be strong enough to care for those we love.

Like all things that are "good for us" sometimes we manage to do lots of the above, sometimes we fall off the wagon, but support is always there. Lollyfin and Karmacat you will receive a warm welcome I am sure.

    Thanks maddiemay, much appreciated :)

I've read the first post, I'll read more later. Happily, I use perfume every day (White Musk from Body Shop :) ) because, horror of horrors, I don't use antiperspirant etc - never trusted the chemicals - and I genuinely do get comments on how nice I smell :)

Just deleted a whole lot of woffle - I'll save it for when I've read the rest of that thread :)

By accident we have been emptying the attic...............6 weeks before Christmas we decide to extend into it and at the same time rip out kitchen, redesign and re build........... Not a lot in the attic TBH mostly some boxes of stuff I had forgotten about that can go to work. Some empty appliance boxes that can either go to work or out with recycling and we have taken some old insulation and polystyrene to recycle center oh and some old skis that OH refuses to get rid of:mad: But I guess they are not taking up much room! I am sure there is some other stuff too but it can wait....other pressing jobs. OH is doing all the work himself - I do the destruction bit cos I am good at that - also the cleaning up and the making meals and cups of tea to keep him going - only fair really. OH did however treat himself to something at the builders merchants this morning - a large case of screws...........like we havent got a small branch of screwf!x in his workshop already.........'but these are "organised screws" ' he said in that they are in a large case and all in small compartments..............give me strength
