Hi everyone, back from my trip to my parents, and time to play catch-up with the Mins Game.
Day 10 - 21 items
Had a good sort out of my scrapbooking supplies as someone on the local freecycle site was asking for stuff to start up a scrapbooking group locally. So I had a good sort out and parted with a vast amount, and now feel a great weight lifted from my shoulders. I think I last did a scrapbook page in 2006 so it was due a declutter!
1 - 21 Scrapbooking embellishments
Day 11 - 20 items
1 - 20 Scrapbooking embellishments
Day 12 - 19 items
1 - 19 More scrapbooking embellishments
Day 13 - 18 items
Ferrero Rocher box
Packaging from paintbrush pack
Carry case with around 50 scrapbook papers in
2 scrapbooks
Pack of spare scrapbook clear pages
Plastic wallet
Loads of ribbons and trims
Wooden candlestick
Alarm clock
2 teapots
Pedestal mat from bathroom
Wine holder
Dressmaking pattern
China bowl
2 tubes of glue
Still continuing to declutter my craft supplies, hoping to get a lot of the other bits to the charity shop tomorrow so I might actually feel that there is less in the house once that all goes.
Happy kondoing everyone!Keep Calm and Carry On Kondoing

To the knitters in the group, I know there's a few
, I am catching up on pages and noticed some people were looking for ideas of things to knit/make with their stashes.
There is a wonderful charity called SiMBA that make memory boxes for people who's babies have been stillborn or died soon after birth. The boxes contain many knitted items including blankets hats and teddies, if you go on their website and fill in a small form they will send you the patterns and let you know where to send completed items.
From personal experience, our granddaughter was stillborn last year, I can't tell you how much the contents of that box have helped my daughter. The blanket her daughter was wrapped in and the clothes she wore so we could all hold her were all made by people who donated the items to SiMBA. It's all she has to remember her daughter and is her most treasured possession alongside the photos and hand and foot prints.
Sorry it's not a happy thing to think about but unfortunately happens more than we would like to think it would but for the families these boxes are worth more than gold so if anyone here does go ahead I just want to thank you in advance on behalf of the people your items will go to and let you know that they will be loved and treasured forever.konMarie and fabbing all the way

Thank you MMF.
On a happier note I am getting 3 bags of komono to charity shops today and might also be looking for some replacement clothes.
I was/thought I was really ruthless with my clothes but since I have done them I've found I still only wear a tiny amount of what I have left and if it wasn't for the fact I would be naked I would get rid of them all. I am a bit, haha, overweight and keep saying I will get nice clothes when I lose the weight, it's been years! So I'm not waiting to have nice things anymore I deserve to have beautiful clothes that when I look at them I can't decide what to wear because I love them all rather than oh this fits it will do.
Wow this is a big thing for me I've always thought it will do, I have what I need...now I want beautiful, selfish little meKM may have created a monster

When I worked in an office I used to make a charity donation - I still received cards, too bad if people want to send them. As our desks had been reduced in size to the minimum compatible with battery chickens there was nowhere to display them anyway.
As I'm now self-employed, I am actually considering sending a few this year for business purposes as I need to keep my name in front of some of my work sources. I still send to distant friends and family, the ones who don't do email or Facebook wouldn't know I was doing a charity donation otherwise! I've cut down hugely though from previous years. Some people in my choir do cards to every member ... we meet every week anyway, I really don't see the point in that!
I like giving and receiving cards. I wish people who don't enjoy doing so would not be so harsh on those that do. I don't criticize people for not giving cards. Each to their own
And I purchase charity cards, so although not all my funds go to charity like yours do, at least some do.
I love Christmas, and the exchanging of cards is part of that. E-cards seem impersonal to me. And certainly cannot be stuck on my wall with blu tac! which is what I do with my cards, so that they form part of my Christmas decorations, and can be admired and their bright festive colours and message of goodwill enjoyed. I do this in my office and in my home.
Anyway, in so far as kondoing is going, the paperwork mountain is still a paperwork mountain. However, I have now managed to get takers on freecycle for a double bed, 3 sliding cupboard doors and a wardrobe. Next up will be the large loose shaggy pile carpet I have in my lounge and an external kitchen door as I have replaced these in my home.
I've taken a carrier bag of items to the chazzer, which includes a few books that I have now read and a vase I was given as a wedding gift (long since divorced) and therefore hung onto, but it didn't bring any joy. Have started a new bag of items that can be donated.
I also donated a bunch of items to my son's school Christmas bazaar, and am currently putting together a box of toiletry items to give to the local shelter for homeless teens.Smiles are as perfect a gift as hugs...

Springdreams, I didn't mean to rain on your parade. As noted above, I do still send some cards but I save them for people I don't see regularly. I do decorate for Christmas, but cards are always a bit of a nuisance, I have tried string (but then you get ones that fold the 'wrong' way) and sticky strips that didn't stick. Now I have a metal star-shaped thing that sort of clips them but then you can't see the pictures.
Lollyfin, I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your granddaughter. I'll look up SiMBA for when I've got some knitting time.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0 -
Good Morning
Yes we've had some sobering posts on here.
You aren't supposed to bury your child. It's not how it's supposed to work is it.
All life is precious and some more fragile than others.
The Paris news today is shocking and should bring home to us how trivial some things are compared to tragedy and loss.
I get your post about Christmas and not being so harsh we all need to respect choices and how we live. However it is my choice to be a Grinch:D. I do like most people enjoy the day with family, nice food and the trimmings but it's just the constant bombardment of adverts and company's playing on our emotions to spend spend spend that I hate.
Anyhow stay safe out there and keeeeeep kondoing:)”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)

Returned from a few days away - hectic but enjoyable. Took DGD3 with us. Kondoed several hours of my life on motorway yesterday in journey which took twice as long as it should. DH returned feeling unwell and took to his bed yesterday which is where he still is. Mil wants shopping which I need to deliver (12 miles) and 3 small people today.
Not much kondoing at the moment and busy week ahead. My post Mins list standing at 54 so small things going wherever possible. Went in loft and realised there are lots of boxes of papers up there to do. May not have finished KM but keeping up with things already done and restricting things coming into house. Groceries at £86 so far this month so well on target for £250. I am finding it easier not to buy things all the time.

Many interesting topics covered in the last few days.
My two pen' 'orth:
I no longer give cards to all work colleagues, I give a donation to Oxfam. I still send to family and friends. But, here's the thing....., I must admit that last year, long before I had even heard of KM, I sat looking at the cards that were given to us and they did not bring me joy. They just annoyed me. I had no idea why. Perhaps it's because I think that many are just sent out of a sense of obligation?
My mum, who has been quite ill for the last 18 months said she did not want to bother sending any last year. Dad said people would think they'd died if they didn't send cards! I offered to write them for her but they both declined the offer. A few weeks' later mum got a call from a friend telling her to make sure she got hold of the post as soon as it came and not to let dad see it....there had indeed been a rumour of dad's demise and the friend had sent a sympathy card! They both saw the funny side and dined out on the story for a good while!
Funerals. Mum wants cremation, ashes taken to favourite mountain in Switzerland. Dad said bin bag, cremation, ashes scattered by the river but he also wants a skein of geese to fly over as he's scattered (timing is everything!).
DH wants cremation and ashes scattered in......Barbados (don't really want to outlive him but that's an incentive!)
me, cremation, scattered somewhere green and peaceful on a sunny day, thanks.
Seems none of us wants any clutter left behind!
thanks PWD for the very useful info.
Rightho, off to kondo some chqs into the bank!

Jinny & granny Kate, I awoke to the Paris news this morning. Had a weep but it has given my kondoing a new lease of life. None of us knows the moment so why live burdened by stuff that could be of use to others. A definite run to the chazza today for me.
