Morning all and welcome to all the new kondoites :)

A joyful day yesterday went out with Dad all day (shopping) But he needed some things. I didnt buy anything so was pretty pleased with myself I did buy him a quilt cover which he loved it was joyful bright and covered in beach huts :rotfl:I thought it would really cheer him up on a dull dark winters morning so was happy to buy it ;)

Been watching the geese fly over this morning which is a joyful thing for me as I have said before.

I will only watch that awful jungle programme if 'GARY' is in it so GQ release him from the airing cupboard and give him a starring role :rotfl:

Shed is being sorted out :T Spent all day Wednesday cutting down the honeysuckle which was out of control. But now I can see the Autumn Gold shining on the fence  So that is going to be painted over now its clear of climbers. Before the shed is put up. So will get on with that next week :D

It has been really quite warm here since Wednesday T-shirt weather if you are in a sheltered spot so very joyful for how late in the year it is :)

    Mav x

Debt free and Mortgage free thank you to all for your encouragement and advice

Successful evening of clothes kondo. All clothes currently in the bedroom have been looked and and kept or culled. Started folding some t-shirts but it got late so will finish folding everything tomorrow. Need to do coats and accessories (belts shoes etc) also but pleased with what I managed! Some tough decisions but I am a hoarder so it's hard to let go of clothes I loved even if I don't think I'll really wear them again. I know the rule is spark joy but in fairness these clothes spark both joy and sadness that realistically I won't wear them... I'm going to really struggle on tougher bits aren't I?

Bless you but just keep posting on here. Someone will inspire you on your journey. Well done on what you've kondoed already.
I kondoed my flat earlier in the year and it literally changed my life.
Opportunities presented themselves and I'm sure my health improved.
I keep saying it's not a race even MK says it could take six months.
I love what I read a while back and posted on here.

I googled the Black Friday origin and was shocked to read
That it was when slaves were sold at a discount the Friday after thanksgiving in America.

Well I wasn't intending to take part in anyway but never will now.

Sorry to start the day negative but had to post this.

Everyone stay safe in the high winds
    And have a lovey day.

I googled too it after reading your post, it seems to be a bit of a myth though that it is connected with the slave trade (e.g. http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/article/30241594/black-friday-rumours-and-the-truth-about-how-it-got-its-name there are other sites which also echo this). It seems the term wasn't used until 1951 at the earliest. So you can shop guilt-free all you want :D.

However, it's not at all MK to panic-buy loads of unnecessary "Stuff" :rotfl:.

Hope the weather is better than forecast.

Yes it is shrouded in myth one theory is it is to do with traders being in the black and using black ink instead of having to use red ink being in the red.
Well I'll stay in the black thanks as I wasn't going to take part in the frenzy anyway :)

Catching up on the posts. Just like to add my family already know that I want the cheapest possible coffin for the leftover bits, a cremation and my ashes scattered underneath a stand of thousand year old yew trees near here. - they could probably do with a bit of potash by now.
I'm also going to leave specific instructions so there's no dilemma over 'what would Mum want' I know it might sound macabre to some but I've seen too many families quarreling or in further distress over small details.
Going to hit the clothes mountain again today so have a good day all x

silvasava - I'm in the process of putting together not just my will, but lasting power of attorney for both finances and health & welfare. Just so there is no need for people to wonder what I would prefer, and hopefully take the pressure off anyone having to deal with my affairs in such situations. There's a cost involved, but I having seen so many friends and acquaintances struggle with decisions about loved ones I think it is worth doing.

Interesting to read about the funeral arrangements. I've discussed it with (my African) DH, and he said he does not mind whatever we decide to do (hopefully not for a very long time yet!). I'm happy, because most of his friends want their bodies to be flown back to Africa to be buried there.

Last night I read through four old letters, and then put them in the old paper box for recycling. Only about 30 to go now.

Spooky that the thread has been discussing funerals, as I'd told OH on Wednesday evening what I wanted for mine. One of my post-Kondo jobs will be to update my will (originally made 30 years ago!) to include this so if OH isn't around any more when the time comes then others will know what to do.

Cheap environmentally friendly coffin for me, then on the bonfire (can't donate anything to science or for transplant as everything is too kn***ered already, lol) and ashes used to fertilize 3 UK beauty spots. I hope they'll recycle all the metal bits too :rotfl:.

Kondoing has been at a standstill all week so planning to catch up over the next few days. I really want to get rid of my crockery which I've hated ever since I bought it 15 years ago - ordered it from a catalogue but they didn't have the one I wanted so sent this as a replacement which I kept 'cos I needed it to feed Christmas dinner guests - but I need to find something which I do like before doing so.

Planning on finishing the main Kondoing before going shopping though as it needs to be done to make life easier.

Oh I like that, I like that a lot :j

With regard to the coffins ... my business partner had his mum buried in a coffin made of a solid (mdf?) base and woven bamboo - it was lined with fabric so you couldn't see inside ... and although it was in a cemetery, it was very diy, as we all carried the coffin into the "chapel".
