Still avoiding getting properly stuck in with paper kondoing. I think that the mins game is distracting me. Because I'm so early on in my kondo journey ( well that's relative as I started in September :rotfl: ) I'm guilty of what she describes as mindless decluttering rather than thoughtfully selecting the things that I want to keep and then putting them away nicely
. So even though I'm really enjoying the mins game I'm going to post items for today and tomorrow and then give up. It was brilliant for getting lots of stuff out quickly though - and the place already looks a lot better for it. I think my Komono category will be easy as I have already got rid of loads of tat. :T
I will keep a note of what I discard via kondoing proper though as it will be good to have a record.

Do it. But perhaps wait a few weeks for the sales and also put the word out to see if the universe will provide. A few weeks ago a friend was talking about getting a mirror for her hallway and I remembered I had a nice one in the loft that just didn't fit anywhere in our small house. End result a happy friend and more space in my loft :T0 -
Thanks Jinny.
I say professionally, its in its very early stages, I've done a few friends of friends and I don't charge a huge amount just a small daily rate that covers me not only for being there doing it with them but also taking stuff to the place they choose, be it the charity shop, the tip and help sort stuff for selling. I tend to charge what I feel they can afford to build up some experience and good will.
I love it.
Wow - well done. I've sometimes toyed with the idea, but then decided I have enough to do at home trying to keep it clean. (My home is tidy, just hate dusting, ironing etc) I would love to go into a proper hoarded home though to see if I could convince a hoarder to give up some items. My mum has hoarding tendencies (dad is keeping it under control thankfully:T) and I did too for several years - always got worse when I came out from a relationship - shopping for things to make me feel good.. Nothing like piling things up in corners, but just being unable to let go and cleverly stacking and hiding boxes everywhere I could...
Then one day after struggling to re-order clothes in one of wardrobes - and oh boy were they wardrobes full although tidy and sorted by type, colour etc - I had a LBM and took all my clothes into another room and kondoed them on one go. I had never heard of Marie Kondo at that point though but I got about 20 bags to CS...and on it went from there :beer:0 -
Managed to Kondo some of my Aunt's clothes & shoes last night to friends. I'd sorted some that were a bit 'past it' so gave them to the CS for ragging - at least they'll raise some funds. Only another 4 (large!) cartons to go.
I think she had an underwear mania - I've rinsed through 3 loads (to freshen up 'cos they were packed away) of beautiful undies - most are either unworn or very lightly worn. Some may fit DGD so she's coming round to have a look. Unfortunately none of it will fit meso it will be sent to the Sally Army or to the charity that takes bra's in Africa. I'm determined that it wil all be appropriately homed one way or another!
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -

:T I donated some bras and shoes to Africa recently as well. And if I can make only few pennies on something, I rather donate to CS. Debra and Cancer Research are two of my favourite CSs and my Xmas card money goes to those folks too.0 -
I recently kondod my mum.
she lives on her own in a 3 bed house, with a full double wardrobe in each bedroom full of clothes, not to mention various sets of drawers.
When we piled it up she was flabbergasted.
We got through very quickly at first but I realised that nearly everything I held up she said 'keep'.
A reaction to it seeming like I was criticising her taste, I'm not sure.
So I kind of left her to do the initial easy throws herself as I think once you get going momentum builds and you start trusting a quick decision.
She was left, I admit, with very few outfits, her choice, not mine, due to weight gain etc.
She hates clothes shopping and so I ordered what I thought her style was judging by the outfits she'd kept or got rid of reluctantly due to wear.
We spent an afternoon trying on and she loved it, got a few new outfits, without the guilt of stuffed wardrobes.I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0 -

I'm not going anywhere near that subject anymore. Been there, done that. Although I did mention to my mum a few times that after she's gone I want to know what her favourite books and items were or otherwise everything was going on skip. (She has thousands)
That brought on the second subject: - my family is really direct about funeral arrangements etc, told my parents last week that I'm direct cremation no discussions about it as it's easier for them to take me back home in an urn and sprinkle my ashes on a flowerbed in my mum's garden) There. You can't get more witnesses than the ones in MSE? Right/And seriously, cremate me in the cheapest cardboard box you can find, it's not like I'll be tutting and saying, ooooh I wanted the £6k mahogany coffin right?
Sorry I know the subject is quite taboo in UK, but then I'm not from here originally0 -
ok so above is totally what I feel. Please ignore the fact that it's not the most easily read piece as it was my brain puke telling what I think and just typed it up. My English teacher would have failed me on that note. RIP my favourite and harshest teacher I ever had.0

Pennystretcher, I like your direct view. Personally, I'm for a woodland burial in a cheap coffin, becoming plant food for some lovely trees. I don't want anyone to feel they need to visit my grave as I will be as happy with the wild flowers that grow naturally as with the most expensive florist's selection.
I'm procrastinating over finishing the paperwork by playing Min's Game, so here's today's tally:
Day 12- junk mail (did not enter house!)
- plastic wrappers from magazines recycled the last two days
- 14 envelopes
- 4 items of junk mail disguised as real mail
- inserts from 5 magazines
- 1 catalogue
- 7 assorted bits of paper
- a large wadge of papers for shredding
- (9-12) 4 magazines
Eventually, I shall get my paper-work-kondoing-mojo back, with the added bonus that there will be clearings in the forest of junk :rotfl:“Tomorrow is another day for decluttering.”Decluttering 2023 🏅🏅🏅🏅⭐️⭐️

Wow, well done all.
Update on PhD - well there isn't really an update. They are awaiting a committee to finalise the offer (typical bl00dy HE - I guess any large organisation), but have had details of the bursary and we can make it work. In fact we won't be a whole lot worse off once you take tax into consideration :T
Just waiting two more weeks and then notice is going in :j sooo excited - though i feel a bit guilty about letting the team down.
Not done too much kondoing, been so busy. My day to day stuff is mostly done. The garage is still shouting at us, but we just can't find a time to do it. Needs a skip.
OH and DS have a collection of Hornby trains so i am thinking of getting a couple of display cabinets to put them in, rather than the plastic drawer unit they currently occupy. it's just where those display cases go.....
Onwards and outwards, folks.I wanna be in the room where it happens0
