The KonMarie method

Welcome, 1Tonsil
I think a big part of the power of the Marie Kondo method comes from the confronting just how much there is. It's definitely easier to get the "Joy-Vibes" when you can see it all together.
For doing a few items every day, Min's Game is very useful, especially for those things that are obviously trash and not worth keeping till their category is full.
Very best wishes for your Kondo Journey.“Tomorrow is another day for decluttering.”Decluttering 2023 🏅🏅🏅🏅⭐️⭐️

Hi 1Tonsil
oh you are going to love it here!
I am still feeling carpso haven't done much but today.....I finished the paperwork!!! It has been annoying me so much just tickling away at the back of my brain and this morning DD3 needed her birth certificate and I had to drag loads of stuff out. So decided none of it was going back and have just finished. I had sorted it quickly into categories before but still couldn't find anything so it's all now neatly filed and labelled and I have 2 black bags of stuff to burn or shred, I'm not sure when that will get done as I have no shredder or practical way of burning but I will figure it out
I'm on p303 now and loving the tips and advice on stuff that has worked for everyone and very taken with the idea of colour analysis and personal shopper but not just yet.konMarie and fabbing all the way

I still haven't got very far just yet! Maybe tonight but I was prioritising putting items on eBay tonight plus the apprentice on at 9 (pretty much the only show I watch religiously currently!). Definitely Thursday I will be kondoing clothes. I set myself a goal of finishing clothes by the end of the week it's still very possible
already both dreading and looking forward to komono haha think there's some drawers I'll be glad to empty but expecting some tough choices

Kitchen accessories drawer Kondoed. Finally got rid of the cake server set we (ex long gone) got given as a wedding gift. Although silver and most likely cost bit of money at the time, I have cake slicer that matches my cutlery set so I use that. The silver ones have actually never been used and have moved with me (counting....) four times now...I hope CS gets some money off them....same with a set of silver (old fashioned) coffee spoons - I've never used them. Now when I open my accessories drawer I won't be reminded of my ex0

1Tonsil, the 'categories' method really works because it lets you see exactly what you've got. If it's overwhelming, break it down into sub-categories, for example I did clothes in several small sessions - underwear, socks, cardigans, trousers etc.
Wort, you've shamed me into going back to my photos - you sound as if you've done a really thorough job. I was so fed up, I decided I'd just shove the reduced number back into the box (now down to one storage crate from two) and sort them later but I know it'll just niggle away at me if I do. ive come so far on the MK journey, I don't want to give up now.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. A warm welcome to newbies
The photo cull is most impressive well done!
Mrs moneypenny I'm like you I struggle over a chapter or two
and finally have admit I'm afraid the relationship is over.
Best just to make a clean break and pass it on.
Minimilism isn't just about clearing out clutter
And organising the remaining stuff.
It's about cutting out activities that take up our time.
Like the drudgery of shopping for gifts because if we don't we will upset people. A small token gift ls all that's needed.
Or being whipped up into a frenzy for Black Friday
As GQ says it's another USA import
Like Halloween that has gotten out of hand now in the uk
I just announced to family and friends I was donating to a local charity in lieu Of cards and gifts
I was met with horror but hey ho they got over it
I play the retiree card tho mind.
I quite like my role as the family grinch! Loll
That said my mother was a nightmare to buy for
But I wish dearly she was still here to buy her something nice.
I'm kondoed more or less now but I'm constantly looking at eliminating things I do that I don't need to do or do so much
So I can spend more time doing things I really want to but never have the time.
Clearing out the clutter and not having to move it from one end of my flat to another all the time or searching for things. has freed up so much time.
Having a minimilist wardrobe saves heeps of time as well
I can be ready and out the door in no time.
So look for ways to save your time on pointless or unessarsary tasks
Have a great evening all”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)
Put on some lipstick
and pull yourself together”

Jinny -:T I just announced to family and friends I was donating to a local charity in lieu Of cards and gifts :rotfl:
Thats at least two of us then Jinny
I was asked why and I just said why do any of us need anymore carp.Whats the point I cant understand all the fuss about presents and left it at thatAnd then changed the subject.:D
How joyful to be able to enjoy Christmas without all the debt and stress that comes with it :T Rushing around the shops trying to find the perfect gift which wont break the bank.
Not for me thanks and I am not bothered what anyone says I am NOT buying a single thing this year. But the Animals will get their Hay and the foodbank will get what they are in need of.
As I wont be rushing round the shops I will also be able to spend time with the people I want to spend time with rather than saying 'Oh I cant I am so busy getting ready for Christmas' and also help out at various Charities.:rotfl:So their paid staff can go yep you guessed it Christmas shopping

Debt free and Mortgage free thank you to all for your encouragement and advice :j

But hey there's someone thinks like me.”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)
Put on some lipstick

Hello 1Tonsil! Delurking here
My windowsill in my office is currently full of DVD and CD cases that are going in the bin tomorrow evening, after the last bag has gone in. The discs are either stored in tiny paper envelopes (100 for £1 in poundland, take 5% of the space!) or gone to charity shops or chucked out if its something I originally taped from the tv. Plus some very old sun block - like, 5 years out of date, I'm not putting that on my face - I want to go a bit more natural with sunblock next year anyway.
I'd love to do categories, get it all together in one place and sort through, but I can't do that. I *have* done an awful lot of ordinary decluttering, so one day, maybe ... in the meantitme, I'll glory in the group accomplishments2023: the year I get to buy a car0
