Sorry to hear about the boiler and hope it isn't too expensive Mavvy
Just Kondoed a morning along with some felt, ribbon, sewing thread, tags and stickers. instead of giving my class cards I make them a little felt tree stocking and put a choccy coin or two in it. Did the cutting out yesterday and the sewing and stamping the tags this morning, just got to put the tags and hanging loops on and that's another job off the Christmas list and a bit out of the crafting stash. Lounge looks a bit like the elves workshop now.
Will leave the sewing machine out as I have some mending to do after work.
Have a joyful afternoon all.SPC~12 ot 124

Good luck with the boiler - hope the pump isn't expensive to replace! They always seem to break down in winter don't they? Not during summer when you only need hot water etc :P
Listening to the Konmarie audiobook in Utube and it playing in the background went through makeup drawers etc. Binned a lot of spare makeup sponges and "in case" brushes. I never use the sponges anymore, prefer to do foundation etc by hand..and gutted hair bands and jewellery too. My fingers are chubbier than before, some would barely fit my pinkie! (Need to stop konmarie'ing those chocolate bars.. :P)
Also an Ik3a fishbowl vase and old plastic jug (had two, kept one) and a pair or BBQ tongs going, going, gone in CS bag.
Edit: Also finally added my once used yoga mat in the CS pile. Still listening to the audiobook..it has been a while since I did my clothes and now thinking that there are couple of items in wardrobe I don't really like anymore...I have a feeling that before this afternoon is over, all my clothes will be out for round two...0 -
Afternoon all. Took my sailing buddy to the local hospital this morning to have a cataract done. Thought I'd take a look round the CS shops as its in a part of town I rarely go to while she was being 'done' . Didn't buy anything!!!
We have a committee meeting tomorrow night so I'm taking one of the sorted boxes of clothes for the ladies to peruse afterwards. With a bit of luck I'll come home with an empty box!
Isn't it lovely when someone else appreciates items that no longer have a place in your life? I think that's what we all hope for when we set things free.
Loving to book tales - my stash is dwindling but I do have a couple that I will never part with. My great grandmother's bible and a Bookano book that was a Christmas present to my Mum when she was a little girl. It has stand up pictures and one of them is a pretty cottage with a piece of cellophane in the chimney with a fairy printed onit. When you hold the cottage under the light and look through the door the fairy is reflected looking as if she's flying. It enchanted me and many other children over the years
Needless to say it brings me very great Joy!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Thanks konverts for your fingers crossed for the boiler
You can uncross them now it was expensive :eek:Pump had gone and also a mouse
Had chewed though some wires (our boiler is a wall hung outside one) Nothing 'normal for us' lol.
So all replaced and done.Had it serviced as well so hopefully that will be ok for a while.
So good news is the mouse didnt get into the house and the other good news is the lovely man who does our boiler is a joy to chat too. Also I picked his brains on a lot of ideas I had and its now becoming clearer thanks to him
Dog did well with his swimming and E*ay parcel gone and no junk of any descripion purchased :T
So all in all a pretty good day

Hello everyone
Starting to see news about Black Friday 2015 - the day when we are supposed to whip ourselves into a buying frenzy in the shops and/or online. I completely boycotted the whole thing last year and made sure I didn't buy one thing all day.
Annoyingly I do want (was going to say need but I guess it is more like a want!) to buy a new armchair or two for our living room. We only have a small sofa so if we have guests then people have to sit on the hard dining chairs. I am keeping an eye on ebay but was thinking about waiting for the sales to get a bargain. So I might have to join in the Black Friday shenanigans:eek: At the same time I'm really enjoying having the space in room and the money in my bank account. think I'm being thoroughly influenced by the minimalists as well as by Marie Kondo.
In other news my book kondo is finished and I happy with those book I've got left. Only got rid of about 30 books but the collection was quite already slender (in my view anyway!) and some of those that remain will be looked at more carefully to see if there is a decent market for them on amazon or not before being disposed of.

Black Friday is an abominable import from the US. I'm having no truck with it. The only shop I've been in in the past week is the one owned by a friend and I was popping in for a natter, not to shop.
Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

went back couple of pages of this thread and..going through the books now. I have a lot of work-related books upstairs in my overcrowded project room, so after a good bit of shuffling items around brought them all downstairs as well. The biggest hit are my cookbooks, after scanning the lot of them through all the ones with fancy recipes (that I will never, ever end up making) I now have about fifteen books in the 'to-go' pile.
Although I do keep a separate pile of "to-read-then chuck" -books too - mostly books I'd buy in an instant again if I came across them in CS. This works for me - they sit in a corner that I see all the time and it drives me nuts to see things in there, so I do keep reading them
Right, thanks for inspiration, I better go and continue before I run out of energy!0 -
