New work uniform arrived this week, (not sure when we are to start wearing it) so took up the trousers, I am not great at sewing and did ponder using wonder Web! but decided to use thread incase I did it wrong. After I finished I kondoed the work box, just keeping the cotton in basic colours, and throwing all the huge bobbins of weird colours that have sat there for too long!

Tidied the hanging basket up, it's still looking fab, definitely the longest a summer basket has lasted.

Great job on the loft GQ, good news IQUEEN on your sil, excellent birthday gift.

Enjoying the month of minimalism tips. Have made an attempt to clear my kitchen counters. Not yet at the stage of being able to have space in cupboards for appliances but I did find plenty of carp on the surfaces to get rid of so I'm ahead for tomorrow's mins game

Mins game day 4 - Found on kitchen counters

    1) new joke hillbillies rotten teeth - I find it sad rather than funny ( packaging r/c teeth binned)
    2) very old bit of string - that had been knotted to increase its useful life at some point in past (Bin)
    3) spare copy of worksheet for dc's home work from last week - no reason why it should still be sat there on window sill and but I'd stopped noticing it (r/c)
    4) child's long sleeve top - too small and stained and was awaiting processing ( now in rag bag)

Feels like I could keep going for months like this but do also want to get on with some more structured kondoing. Keep forgetting to ask oh to get boxes of books down from loft. Not sure if he'll have time tomorrow so should have asked him today.

Not much kondoing from me in the last few days but long for thursday when I'm home to carry on with the paperwork / photos I want to start.

  • Uk-American, i love the idea of your clutter 'talking' to the medium - I wonder what it would say! :rotfl: A great incentive to clear up, though.

I'm sure if I heard some of mine talk, it would beg to be set free - I do hope so.

Well, I've had a brilliant day, but its a shame no Konvert wanted the 'nested Russian Babushkas', iTwin! :rotfl: They will be in the CS bag tomorrow! :D

The icing on my birthday cake, was all the wonderful greetings that you fellow Konverts posted on here. It completely blew me away earlier. But now, I've recovered my dignity! ;)

Your kindness has brought me pure joy, amazement, and a wonderful memory to store (in my head!) The party on here is the best I've ever had. (I'm 2 stone heavier from all your cakes, will definitely have a virtual hangover, tomorrow, in spite of the thoughtful coffee from Blue Doggy.) :rotfl:

I hope the Kondo woo factor brings all of you some special joy soon. Thank you all:

VJsmum: For starting this snowball of joy ;)

Hello all you lovely Konverts!!!
I've been lurking for a while, my new relaxing habit is going to bed with a mug of hot milk to read your tales of winning & sometimes woe whilst KM'ing 😁
Very very inspiring & funny too!!

I've been doing quite a bit of selling to remove unjoyful things recently in an attempt to make a pending flat move easier...the new flat has finally been finished & I start packing asap!
Although I tore a tendon in my shoulder last week so one-armed bandit packing is the way forward 😕

Any ideas for packing super fast whilst in pain greatly received 🙋

    PS
I'll take the Matroyska (sp?) dolls please to my new home if you still have them iQueen? I'll cover the postage etc, I had a set years ago when I was very young & loved them. They got left behind when Mum left my crazy Father, and you reminded me how bright & pretty they look.
    Happy Birthday BTW 🍹🎂🎁
Glad to hear your special day was so joyful!!!!

    :) Morning all.

Got back to the homestead late yestereve due to bus running 1.5 hours late. Fortunately it was a mild evening and I had my Dad for company so we had a good old natter. He said, of the loft, that there's no reason for anything more to be added to it, so if we keep steadily taking stuff away, it should get there in the end.

Unpacked my stuff when I got back in and had a long chat with a neighbour on the phone (my neighbourhood can [STRIKE]go to hell in a handcart[/STRIKE] have some pretty exciting things happen when you leave it for four days, so I needed to get back up to speed).:rotfl:

Today is back to work, visit a pal, then settle down and get discards listed onto freegle this evening, and others processed for chazzer donation. I won't itemise the exits because they're RL identifiers but they came from the loft and the previous week's declutter in the Cupboard of Doom. The Blue Thing (dress form) is still at the parents' place awaiting donation.

;) The recycling bin at the homestead was almost half full when I left it, the day after it'd been emptied.

mavvymoo, great (and funny) news about getting the bike reunited with its owner, he was very lucky to get it back, thanks to you.

Righty, bit of interwebulation whilst breakfasting, then off to do my job of work, then cracking on with the decluttering. Have a great day, kondo-ites.

Seeing parental clutter seems to have been a force for good as far as DH is concerned. He has agreed that I can buy one of the dvd wallets to downsize the dvd stash. Will free up cupboard space and mean that my Kondo'd paperwork files won't release an avalanche of dvd cases when I get them out (the files acting as bookends for rows of dvd cases, iyswim).

Mind you, I did have to introduce the idea to him by starting off saying that it was just a thought and I not decide to do it but........ His first reaction was, 'what about all the cases?' I assured him we could do without the cases! After a while, letting the idea percolate in his 'I don't do change well' brain, I was even bolder and suggested that cds could go the same way. He panicked a bit about the inserts and how would we find the discs if they were in a random order, but seems to be coming round to that too. BTW, our cds are in a fairly random order at the mo, but he can see the cases and obviously knows roughly which row to look at to find the one he wants. I assured him we can put them a sensible order in the new wallet and in fact it will be easier to find and to reach (current location involves a bit a stretching and twisting to see and more to actually get hold of desired disc,)

It is a bit sad, I know, but I am looking forward to buying the dvd wallet today and kondo-ing the dvds when I get home. Thanks to those who mentiined this solution :)

So baby steps this week but still, progress is progress, eh? As someone has as their signature (so can't recall who before morning coffee kicks in!), take the small victories.

I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.
