Happy Birthday IQueen
I've almost got loft envy here
Living in a flat I dont have one
Is that a bit sad?

Happy Birthday IQueen

Living in a flat I dont have one
Is that a bit sad?
Have a great day y'allDon't, I've just crawled back down after an hour's graft and washed that particular kind of loft dust which settles onto plastic bags up there, my clothes must be steeped in it, into the washer once I get home.
Have already handled a heinous amount of yarn and there are bags of curtains bought because they were a bargain which can't be got rif of Because They Might Be Needed One Day. I have even seen something which I think may be the 2nd hand door curtain bought from a jumbly to fit the flat I left a decade ago. If it is what I think it it, we will have to have a discussion.
When we were loading for the chazzer/ dump run yesterday, Mum's voice called down will they take a typewriter? which baffled me as there were only ever two owned by the family and they were both long gone.Oh no, the Silvette portable I has a present about 38 years ago and which was decluttered by me decades ago was retrieved by her and hidden in the cupboard of doom. There are 2 functional desktop PCs in this household. And we found one of my dolls. I am a 51 y.o. woman and gave up on dollies and teddies when I was about 10-11.
Send me strength, lovely peeps, and patience and good humour.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Have a wonderful 70th IQUEEN :bdaycake:_party_
Last night I read the minimalist page, one of you lovely lot posted, and decided to put my tassimo in the cupboard, also my knifes out of the block in the drawer, but I do find the block handy so may give it a few days before throwing the block away.
OH went to make a cuppa last night and came back to ask why had I put coffee machine away? I replied we don't use it every day, OH ,ok!
My kitchen is a u shape of cupboards now I have fridge freezer at back of door, then on worktop, hiding behind it is my mini compost bin,for T bags and peelings,my kettle, the corner is taken up with the microwave hidden at side of that is cordless phone, then 3 tins with tbags sugar and tablets, next is the hob after that is bread bin, turn last corner and my washing up liquid and soap in nice white bottles next to sink then fruit bowl on last counter top :j:j
I am loving it :T
The windows sill above sink has vase of flowers.
Love the work in the loft GQ I am sure it will benefit your parents hugely. So they will continue with what they can manage themselves when you leave.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.0 -
Happy Birthday iQueen
hope you have a lovely day xx
Unsure of what to do with a cat that adopted me last autumn - someone else is clearly feeding him and last night he came in with a collar on. I think this has only been happening for a few weeks, and he's microchip'd under my name and details. He spends way over 50% of his time in my flat, maybe 75%? And I know he goes into any flat quite happily - as indeed I also 3 visitor cats who I know have homes.
Otoh, I could accept the lower food costs and trust the streetwise cat to sort himself. Oh well!
GQ - ah, the retrieval of things selected for disposal! You have my sympathies.
I may not have time for much kondo-ing today, but I am managing to keep doing little repair jobs around the flat. Finding it much easier stillKondo has made such a difference!
Would get up, but I have cheeky cat asleep on me after his breakfast. Or is it second breakfast?:AStarting again on my own this time!! - Defective flylady! :A0 -
Happy Birthday IQ, hope you have a lovely day.0

Afternoon all.
Micro-rest after lunch then back to make one last push against the Hoard.I have not got as far as I would have liked (does one ever?) and Henri II won't be deployed in earnest, the amount of yarn up there is absolutely flipping staggering.
OK, most of it was bought for a song, as I can see from the price tickets on it but, I suspect most of it will wend its way to the chazzers within the next 20 years, it represents a big waste of time more than money.
I have been licensed to withdraw one of the 1970s suitcases from the Archival Luggage Collection, load it with donations and take it with me. It's perfectly sound, just not used. Also had one of those confetti moments when I found yarn stored in biodegradable placccy bags which had turned to snow. What a messy clean-up that was - twice over. And the batteries on my head torch have given up the ghost, so I am managing without task lighting and using the bulkhead clip on light on the joist.
Hokay, will retrieve the brush and pan for a little clean up once I've refound the loft floor (the middle section where the hatch is has been ha[hazardly boarded over the years).
Once more unto the breach, my friends, cry thunder and loose the dogs of war.:rotfl:Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Dragonette why not tie a small label to the collar and advise that said cat is microchipped to you?

Have a great day y'all
No, it's not sad - be joyful! Not having a loft (garage, coal house, cellar, shed) has saved you untold amounts of work. They are evil, junk-sucking monsters which smilingly masquerade as useful storage space.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0
