Just realised it 's November today and I did promise myself I would join in this months game, although it will be hard as have got stuff I am putting together for an Xmas craft fair (ironically this is to to get rid of surplus craft things as well!) and I have a huge pile of stuff for eBay to contend with.

I was sifting through the Halloween box last night and throwing out bits I kept that I don't like nor will use, including the small fancy dress bits. The dilemma is it will now fit in a lot smaller box apart from the witches hat and the Halloween treat sign. I don't want to put these elsewhere as I will just forget where I put them and in line with 'our leader' think it is wise to keep them together.
Don’t put it down - put it away!

Now I know this is not a competition but while I really laughed at the GQ parental patio table parasol finial, with no patio to sit on, I have just had a quick foray into the parental pantry and found a jar of lea & perrins BBQ sauce, BB 30/4/1996. I kid you not.

I could try and point out that if you haven't felt inclined to open this jar in 19 years you probably er, won't open it in the next 19 years (without sounding disrespecful, mum is 75). But, I am here for most of the week so I have to be a bit circumspect at first. No point scaring the 'jic fairies' into turning hysterical circles just yet.

BTW, on arrival I found the seating in the lounge entirely covered in komono, other than the parental thrones. I moved a few bits, a book, a parcel that arrived this morning, a new jacket from CS, some clothing they are returning by post tomorrow, and other detritus, to clear a spac
e to sit. Mum objected to me moving the large cushion to free up one place ''because auntie S likes to sit on that so it is easier for her to get up'. The persons present being DH and I, auntie S having not visited in several weeks, not due back for a month. How do you deal with logic like that ???

Think we may have to concentrate on the garden, not sure I have the skills to deal with potty mother!

:rotfl::rotfl:I knew a lady like that.If you went to sit on one of her arm chairs she would always say 'Oh thats Evas chair ' So people said oh I sorry and moved and waited for Eva to arrive. What they didnt know was Eva lived 250 miles away and came once a year for a week in the Summer :D Nowt as queer as folk ! ;)

  • Loving your tales GreyQueen.
I have had a fun day Kondoing the wardrobe in our bedroom. The drawers keep opening on their own, so I have taken everything out and fixed the bottoms of the drawers. Sorted my drawer then got husband to go through his stuff. I havent mentioned 'do you love this' yet but we have managed to lose some stuff. I tried to get him to clear out some tshirts but the response is but there is lots of room in there!

Have listed three items on ebay to hopefully go towards christmas.

I had a clean in the study again and lined up the empty marmite jars on the clean window sill( one of OHs many collections) and called him up to say look this is a silly collection, response was ooh they look good on there! however i have just looked on tebay and some people are actually paying for them! A full one would have made more though! Managed to get him to throw a plastic cup that he had an orange juice in at the David Bowie exhibition last year. Will just check on tebay seeing if anyone will buy it before it goes in the recycling!
    Ive Kondoed some magazines.

Surely if you need a po in that much of a hurry, you won't want to be climbing ladders into the loft to get it....;)
:T My thoughts exactly, but rationality is only an occasional visitor to The Hoarded Loft.:rotfl:

Going to head offline for the night, after I have taken down the 7 mini coolbags off the landing to be vetted. I think at least one has died in storage. Dad used to use these when he was still working, but Mum overshopped for replacement ones before the old ones were worn out and gradually got more and more and then there was no room in the kitchen so they got lofted.

I am sooooo glad I only have a flat with no loft and no spare room, as it keeps these impulses under strict control.

Onwards and outwards, my lovelies, and if I can get thru the next 48 hours without causing a stress-implosion or a row, and still continue to de-loft some stuff and re-organise what's left, I shall consider it a fair trade off for my flex days.

:o The family shirehorse ornaments (2) were decluttered in the 1980s (I put my hoof down) but there is a carved wooden elephant. With a broken tusk. Anyone else got one of those at home?

Mavvy the horse in question has one front leg bent to appear in the walking position so only the tip of the hoof is touching the ground, it's wearing a rather naff leather harness front memory as well as being tethered to the barrel wagon.
GQ we were given a tiny painted elephant by a friends dad who went to India it's tusks were tiny fragments of what I believed was real ivory, it did lose both its tusks as I'm afraid I felt rather guilty having it on display with them. Not sure what happened to the rest of the elephant - it was bright green and black if you should come across it while attic surfing.;)

We've got a rather large wooden ornament of a sobbing man, he's sort of hunched over into a cross legged ball with his hands over his head. It's about the size of a large basket ball. I find it quite depressing and unjoyful I keep meaning to ask dd2 if she wants it at hers or if it can be Kondoed. Anyone else wAnts to admit to having one? I doubt it.

  • Good evening lovely Kondo'ers!

Loving all the mins and GQ loft listings, also the gift of time from mrs-moneypenny, hope all your offspring enjoy too.

It's been a productive week and weekend here. While the boyfriend was away, I've been making strides with my focus on diet and exercise. I think the clearer KM mindset has been helping me immensely.

I'm down 4.5 kilo during the past 2 months with little effort; while not a lot for many (I'm not the tallest!), I'm halfway to my goal, mainly through a reduction in alcohol, dairy, processed food and focusing on veg heavy, carb light meals with exercise six days/wk. With the BF away I'm losng 1 pound/wk and enjoying the process as I have a rivalry with one of my gym instructors. She pushes and I do lol.

I've made it a goal to make something leave this flat every single day, even if it's only the recycling. In a busy city centre I can drop off whatever recycling I want every day, 2 mins from my house.

In the beginning of KM's book when she talks about 'what do you want from life, etc.' I regularly get approached about jobs, my daily work is well-paid in the technology industry but painfully mind numbing. I was approached on Friday for a job in a location in the UK that I'd love and a job descr/title that I'd love to do. Early days, but I think it's the magic of KM.

Although I then looked at my KM'd wardrobes and thought 'carp, I can't be hauling that across the country!"

Food, laundry and everything set here in my foggy corner of Essex ...hope everyone is finishing a productive Sunday

I used to have two of these and one of them had a broken tusk. I Kongoed it together with its twin and the ex OH about 30 years ago. Strangely, after he died a few months ago and his home had to be cleared, my DS2 found them and took them home so they are still in the family.

Why would your DD want such a depressing sounding object? It sounds MOST unjoyful!! Where did it come from?
