Great news re mortgage wish we at that stage!
Can't wait to hear what is uncovered in the loft good luck there !

Paper work I never had loads of, possibly because I throw most stuff, even things I probably shouldn't  Also I pay most of my bills by direct debit, which is all paperless these days. I just have 1 metal box with files mine,oh,house, tax.
I always deal with letters as they arrive most go straight to recycling.

My sticking point is the photos, I think that a cold wet winter day may be put aside for those.
At work tomorrow, then off out for tea and drink with brother and sil, sneaky way to avoid all those knocks at the door!;)

    Have a great weekend.

    Congrats Igamogam.

GQ - if you find a dining table leaf up there, it's mine. I lost one about 20 years ago. I'm sure it was in my parents' loft... I'd like it back please :)

I've just finished packing (again) and am trying to decide whether to remove one of the pairs of jeans I packed from my case. I do like to have a choice of what to wear though... and the weather forecast is variable (mind you, the chances of me seeing outside during a 4 day conference are minimal...)
  • Good morning everyone.

I woke up this morning and looked out of the window. I panicked when I realised that I had forgotten to put the bin out. But then I saw that everyone else's bin lids were in the middle of the road, last night being mischief night.

    Then I really woke up!

DD2 came back for the weekend last evening, having taken a few hours off work to get an early start and then taking 4 and a half hours to do a normal 2 and a half hour journey.

As usual she brought me some washing, but at least she kondo'd a bottle of wine to her friend's house which I will include in my list when I get round to posting.

I am hoping that she will spend a few minutes going through the suitcase of tops and jumpers that stands in her room. I am sure that some can go to CS and some she will need to take with her as it gets colder. I have already been through it and discarded the best before ones.

Last day of mins today and l am trying to decide what to do for next month. Originally I thought I would like to continue the momentum and work backwards from 30, but now I am thinking that it is fiddling while Rome burns, there is still so much to do. But then it is making sure I do something.

Time to put some washing on!
  • Congratulations Igamogam, it's a great moment! And I hope you found the bed, GQ.

I was laughing at the Tupperware/LocknLock stories - why are these so tricky? Every time I open the cupboard one jumps out at me. Decided I didn't really Kondo them properly, now I don't work outside the home I don't need so many lunch boxes and I tend to use poly bags in the freezer, so why have I got so many? I'm away from home but you can guess what I'll be doing when I get back.

Is it weird that I'm actually looking forward to it?

Right probably using up all my limited data posting as I am away this weekend.
In answer to the plastic container conundrum
I don't have a lot of. Space in my tiny kitchen to store them in a cuboard so I just pop them and lids in large shopping bags and hang on the inside of the pantry door
My freezer is in there so I bash my head on them all the time
I have been buying glass ones to try to get away from using plastic
    So they can hurt:(

I am staying with the person i am a carer for. They too have a tiny kitchen but a spare cubby to store them in
I had a shoebox and fruit container obsession when I moved them in last summer.
So I have all the lids in a shoe box and the plastic bottoms in a large unused washing up bowl.
If you aren't using them regular I would question if you need to keep them. You can't hold them and feel joyful but they are living rent free in your home and not doing much sitting in a cubby

    Another kitchen tip
I've lined their fridge shelves with those cheap coloured plastic bendy chopping boards. Morries sell them and quid shops
I did this with my fridge. They aren't quite big enough to fit
but it's so easier to clean the shelves. You just pop them in the sink.

I have a lot of Tupperware/ Locknlock/ takeaway tubs. There are 6 of us in the house and we can eat different things on some nights due to activities etc, so single portions in the freezer/ leftovers in the fridge are handy. Tiny tubs also get used in lunchbags (cake, grapes etc). The small people occasionally wander off with a tub or 4 for use in a game, too! :D

I have KMd my tubs twice - once when I first started and again when I received some very joyful real Tupperware (most of mine having died over the years) I store all of the lids in a large tub (think it might be a Tessco value one) and all the boxes next to that stacked up in each other. I think I have the right sort of amount for us a family, but it *is* a lot in the cupboard when it's not being used (which happens from time to time) - I still manage occasionally to be scrabbling around for a tub though! I like to have some takeaway tubs in there with the 'real' stuff as I use those when giving things to people (eg: DD used 2 the other day to take Halloween biscuits to a party) - I don't expect them to be returned :)

  • I am collecting up carrier bags for the Ocado delivery driver again, this time about 60 bags. I didn't realise I had so many of them.:o

I had a few parcels delivered today and kondoed all the packaging into recycling. I bought a couple items of clothing so I will look again at any clothes that can be sent to textile recycling as I'm sticking to a capsule wardrobe. I was putting the washing away and thought some of the underwear looked like it was on it's last legs, so to speak, so our underwear drawers will be culled again later.:p

Feeling very 'light' this morning.......almost delirious :rotfl: Couldnt sleep last night. Too many thoughts running through head. Think its the effect of clearing the mortgage. DD2 has had a good old sort out of her room. I still think she could get rid of a lot more especially in clothes dept but she has had a good clear out - lots of school stuff, keep sakes ( just dawned on me the connotation of those two words- keeping for the sake of it:rotfl::D:eek:) and cuddlies - 'putting away childish things' and all that. So there will be another trip to CS later today. She is wanting her room redecorated and with a busy year ahead ( Alevels:() she is looking to have a calm uncluttered room with no distractions!!

I have a few projects on the go. Havent been able to settle to one thing this week when I thought I would/planned to have it licked but I will keep on plodding. Think I ma going to concentrate on rooms - our bedroom has become bit of a dumping ground and really if there is no room for it it really needs to go - or something needs to go!

And if you find a black binbag with assorted clothes including long baggy navy Gap jumper and good sheepskin slippers can I claim it please. Left with DS when I moved to Spain and he thinks he's Kondo'd it to the charity shop (leaving his own multitude of loft cr*p untouched of course :( )

Can't wait for an update :D.

    Oh and congrats Igamogam :T:T:T.
