Good morning everyone.
Mins game
Day 6
As expected I managed to collect items for the recycling collection that were out of the routine stuff.
1. 1 large cardboard box and egg box type packaging from a recent purchase that I would normally keep for 12 months in case of return, but would then forget about.
2. 1 Thompson local directly to paper recycling box. It did not pass 'GO' and did not collect 200g of dust before being replaced by a new one.
3. Ditto 1 Scr*wfix catalogue delivered yesterday. Unwrapped and hidden between the free newspapers before DH got home from work.
4 and 5. Two different drinking glasses from the in use shelf that neither matched nor stacked with any other.
6. 1 further large plastic container of body moisturiser previously opened over 2 years ago.
Got up this morning and DH said it is not worth putting the cardboard and plastic wheelie bin out as there is not enough in it. He did agree to the glass, tins and paper box as that is collected weekly but has not been out for about 3 weeks. I could put the bin out but I would have to shuffle the car about to get it past, and to be honest, if I do it, it will become another of my jobs like everything else since I retired.
GQ, I have quite a few, read that as lots, of boxes with small items and bits collected pre or during this project.
Some bits I think I recognise, but have no idea what they are part of. I am sick of asking questions like 'what does this battery cover belong to' but equally I don't want to throw it out and then find the item without a cover when it could have been donated as a complete unit rather than landfill.
Thanks to those who posted links. Interesting reading and saved me finding my place in my bedtime reading book.
I might concentrate today's items for a tip run or charity shop, whatever fills up first.0 -
Early start so I can start on 8 items for tomorrow. This is helping me get into the Full Kondo of papers and photos as I am doing a cull of small boxes and areas and putting what is left together for the final sort.
Mins Day7
1. Unused out of date bottle of mouthwash
2. 2012 Work diary
3. 2013 Work diary
4. Culled box of papers/photos/cards from Mums room
5. Meeting papers
6. Puzzle book at least 10 years old - I will never finish it as I have done the ones which I like
7. Pair of trainers for CS - in good condition but not comfortable on my feet so not worn in last 6 months.

Choosewisely - giggled at no 3 - hiding the screwf*x catalogue before DH sees it - think we've all been there.
My DH actually brought home a junk mail type catalogue which he found on his train seat on Monday. I will lose it in a few days time.2025 Decluttering Campaign 665/2025 🏅🏅🏅🏅(🏅🏅) 🌟🌟

Started listening to this lady today on her podcasts.
She had a blog as well.
A natural Messie she gives an account how how she declutters and cleans her home. A bit American but I can identify wth her.
She says she had a dishwasher and that must be switched on each night. well I don't have one but I do agree clearing your kitchen every night even if you don't do anything else. It is such a joy each morning going into a clean tidy kitchen. I did leave mine messy last night as too tired. felt even more tired when I got up to a sinkful os dishes.
She advises to clear visual clutter first rather than drawers. I can see what she means how you just don't see clutter left out until it is clear and you then notice the space. It's how when we first clear and fold a drawer and we keep opening it to admire the work
I have only listened to he first ever podcast but it got me through last nights dirty dishes.”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)
Put on some lipstick
and pull yourself together”

)1 toy plastic chicken (mav!) that used to 'lay eggs', but all the balls were lost years ago! (Sure thats not marbles) x
Ahh iTwin did you once many moons ago mention that you liked chickens :rotfl:
How funny all the hair gels and waxes etc. I got rid of the same type of stuff when I did my kondoAlong with a 'Hair Polish' That I was talked into buying from a posh hairdressers once. Looked so good when they used it on my hair
When I used it my hair looked like a sticky birds nest :rotfl:and it took me Bl**dy ages to wash the stuff out and I still kept hold of it for about 5 years as it cost so much  How funny.
GQ I am so looking forward to the randomness which I know is coming :T I am sure we wont think you are only knitting with one needle(Think Freddy) xx Or a sandwich short of a picnic (is what my Mum would have said ) x
TBH I think most of us are knitting with only one needle and I would hate for it to be any other way
Now trying to find a plumber as mine seems to have vanished off the face of the earth

:rotfl: No, not marbles, but smaller, plastic balls!
Yes, in the 80's (era of back-to-basics lifestyles) we had 18 chickens and 3 female goats! :rotfl:
I also learned the hardway about buying hair products from stylists - just the same stuff as the High Street, but more expensive!Nearly kept the moulding stuff but it had gone rancid.
1 shampoo and 1 conditioner only now, hair slides and hair pins.
:rotfl: I am literally knitting with 1 needle (in all senses!)... a circular, using Magic Loop, for the GD1's baby dress - no seams! :rotfl:
I had a breakthrough this morning, thinking about Mins Day 7...
Although I had vaguely recognised, at the start of kondoing, that I could part with about 80% of what I've got...
today, it crystalised. I looked around me and realised that most of the Stuff around me is just a burden and I can live more happily without nearly all of it! (2-3 skips, come to mind!)
Thinking back to my childhood home, a 2 bed semi in the 50s, we had no clutter.
A chest of drawers, wardrobe, and bed/s in each bedroom. A cardboard box was my sister's and my 'toybox' and housed all our toys.
A table and chairs, a sideboard, an easy chair, and a treadle sewing machine in the living room, and built-in cupboards and drawers, in the alcoves. One cupboard held crockery, but I've no idea what was in the other or the drawers. There was a walk-in pantry, under the stairs.
The front room had a 3-piece suite, an upright piano, a coffee table and a wrought iron standard lamp. There was a cupboard under the stairs, The Glory-Hole, which held coats, (and Mother's komono!)
The kitchen was built onto the back of the house - a glass 'conservatory' affair, only used for cooking and laundry, but had a bookcase in it.
We had everything we needed, and it never crossed our minds to want more.
That's my vision for my home.
I may make a special trip into town tomorrow, just for the tip and CS shops.
Today, I am corraling Stuff-To-Go, and if the weather dries up, loading the car.
I shall list my mins later - I'm hoping for several days' worth!
Have a lovely day, Konverts!

Great blog, legogingerninja! Welcome! :coffee:
When I left my second husband, I carried a load of debt that he'd built up on my bank account! It took me years and years to pay it off - the bailiff became a friend!
Since then, I don't buy anything unless I have the cash to pay for it, and I don't have any Credit Cards, store cards etc. I don't do DDs, I use Standing Orders, which companies cannot alter.
I also don't buy goods with brand logos - why should I give them free advertising! They can afford to advertise; I can't!:rotfl:
Good luck with the debt-busting - the peace of mind, from never owing anything (but the mortgage!) is BLISS!Needs, NOT wants!
