GreyQueen, I can sympathise. My own council is pretty useless. Why is it that one department can be filled by jobsworths who set out to make life as difficult as possible, then another department has all the get-up-and-go ( and intelligence) of a wet lettuce?
Would it be possible for you to set up a petition from all the responsible plot holders to get something done?

Lasagne sheets. They can always be made into hot dessert. Seriously. Make layers or ravioli with things like chestnut pur!e, chocolate spread with extra nuts, mincemeat etc. Sprinkle with icing sugar instead of parmesan. ;-) Hot minceameat ravioli with hot whisky sauce. Yum.

Min's Game:

Day 5:
3 completely worn out towels, no use even for floor cloths!
1 information card for a not-very-local business
1 1992 edition Paris Guidebook - I expect a lot has changed since then.

I'm liking this addition to Mainstream (or should I say Hardcore? :D ) Kondo-ing, since I'm bogged down in paperwork but yet can see odds and ends of komono which need to go, whether or not they are part of a bigger gang of similar trash. It's good to have a structured and fun way of getting rid of them.

I'm kondoing a pile of ironing at the mo because the woo factor has given me two weeks of full time work BEFORE my new extended hours start after half term.

DH has taken the kondoing ball and run with it, while sorting out the spare room we came across the remainder of a case of Stella which neither of us really liked, he said at lunchtime hes told one of his work friends they can have it if they pop round and collect it. And he's told another if they want a portable tv we have some that are heading to the recycling dept, so we may have tho going sooner than I thought. This is before I even tell him about the mins game!

• Hi All

Hope you have had a great weekend.

Well I managed to kondoe our conservatory, its on the side of the house and only really used to dry our laundry in bad weather as I can't stand it being around the actual house. I found three seperate sets of 'car washing equipment, which is now in a plastic crate in one of the units, I amalgamated all of the cleaning supplies that are stored there (laundry, diswasher etc) from 3 crate to two, leaving the third free for the car stuff! Kondoed a lot of fluff and dog hair from the floor! There was a huge black bin bag of, wait for it......other bin bags, which are now all neatly folded into an icecream tub and under the sink in the cleaning cupboard, taking up a fraction of the space they did occupy! Various odd items went into the rubbish and/or CS donations bag. The place seems a lot bigger now and there is room for me to sit on my wicker sofa and enjoy the sunny days. Still need to pack away the cushions for the decking furniture, will vac pack them to keep them clean, dry and compact.

Didn't manage to get into the loft unfortunately, will get DH to help me with that one evening. However I did blitz the bathroom using up some bleach and bicard to clean the grouting up, looks lovely.

Spent some time on my bedroom, have done my clothes so was sorting miscellaneous !!!!, there's a lot of that in our house! Threw away a lot of cosmetics and brought some into use to replace others, have given a few items away to friends and other items off to the CS.

To me the house is beginning to feel 'lighter' and I feel more energised, still a long way to go but I am up for the challenge. I am using candles every night and making a real effort to keep on top of things like keeping the kitchen worktops clear, washing up done etc.

Need to do some more work in the kitchen tonight, want that cleared as much as possible ready to decorate it at half term.

Take care everyone

Ugh! What a day!

Got back from PO, and cafe, where I dropped off the books, and found a letter...

an appointment for 'a meeting with the Multi-Disciplinary Team', who do the eye op that I preferred! So much for the 51 week waiting list!

Actually, it's the Dermatology Dept that do this, not Ophthalmology. Phew!

So I've spent the afternoon on the telephone. Two numbers from the GP surgery to arrange transport for the 160 mile round trip to UHW - both incorrect. Thought I wouldn't qualify, but it's booked for a week on Wednesday.

Apparently, I will be meeting 'a team of doctors and nurses to discuss my case and subsequent care'. The team will review this and then 'invite me back within 24 hours to discuss the outcome of the review'.

I also tried to find a photographer to do photos for my Driving Licence renewal. No luck, but was pointed to one of the booths locally.

Haven't done my mins yet, but will get to it, in a bit - already got some things listed. :)

Heard this morning that my SIL is now missing half a lung, but he expects to be home tomorrow and, at present, only needs monitoring for the next 5 years. :j

The old anxiety raised its miserable head today, but is now subsiding, so I'm back  A bit of knitting should kill it off!

Deep voice: I'll be back! (Later) :D
Needs, NOT wants!
No food waste since November 2010. :j
No debts.

I'm getting rid of so much stuff I'm not even going to try the mins game at the moment. I think it will be a great tool to use regularly in the future to keep on top of things.

In the meantime, i've nearly finished emptying the ensuite and moving into the new bathroom, so now need to focus on making space to move out of my bedroom. I think there's about another 2 months of work to be done upstairs if I can afford it. And most of it will be without heating as there are 5 radiators and a towel rail to change, so they won't want to be filling it up and emptying it again, but I simply can't clear out all the rooms enough for them to do them all at once...

Yes I've failed miserably on the mins game. So I think I'll just watch from the fence. It's a great idea though very helpful. Makes you mindful of the stuff you turn a blind eye to.

i did however clear out my collection of receipts. I'm afraid I keep every one for 6 months. That's not very MK but I get a saddo joy from checking back what I've spent each month on groceries. It keeps me in check. I do have a meal plan and budget I usually stick to. However like most I sometimes have a s** it moment and spend over.
Boy! In June I really went for it looking through the items I bought stuff I didn't really need. Never mind back on track now.
Have a great evening everyone :D

Doing a :jfor you iQueen, what great news!

Over here I'm not doing min's but looking forward to reading all of your findings. Hoping someone is able to come up with something as interesting as VJsmum's train. :p

Mav, I would have been tempted to keep that retro plastic box from your recipe cards. Right now I'm following our leader's advice and using containers that I have. A disproportionate number of things are in boxes that previously held cat food pouches. They're an awfully convenient size but not overly pretty to look at. Perfectly acceptable for storage that is behind cupboard doors, but oh did I have a bit of box envy at your nice box there.

Due to all the KM'ing, I'm now painting my tiny flat. Now that the bookshelves are gone and things out of the way, everything looks grungy, grr Marie, it was fine six months ago. My city centre fishbowl one-bed has its advantages! A tiny footprint means that I can tape and paint each room in a few hours. The bathroom was done last week, now I'm on to the hallway.

As I'm doing it, I've become quite ruthless. I think I've reached an irritation point. If something irritates me to move it, dust it, clean it, etc. then there's a good chance it's headed to the charity shop bag or the bin. Things that made previous cuts are now tossed without a further thought.

Last week, I had a lovely French student staying with me as she searched for a local flat. She's a language assistant, only 22 and not terribly confident in her language skills. I had placed a glass of water for her on a coaster and as she picked it up the coaster stuck to it and she ended up spilling the water and exclaiming, 'these sort of things always happen to me!'

Sheesh. The coaster is now in the charity shop bag. It was a one-off gift and didn't match the others and should have exited a while back. The last thing I want is for someone to feel uncomfortable in my environment due to under-performing items. These are the types of things that are getting their out-going orders. :)
