:) Hey, I never even thought of cooking them then slicing them, doh, what a good idea. I can tell you that they are a PITA to break when dry, bits go everywhere.:rotfl:

I realised that enjoying eating lasagne isn't the same as being arrissed to cook it and, after a couple of goes, dismissed it as too much faff. I'm a tolerably competant cook, but have a short attention span, and lasagne was trying my patience.

Hokay, offline for now, have a good night, everyone. GQ xx

Make 'deconstructed' lasagne or 'open ravioli'. Cook the lasagne sheets in boiling water, put one on a plate, top with sauce of your choice, and if you're hungry add another sheet and some more sauce/grated cheese. Serve with salad.

GreyQueen: re bramble and weed problems. My friend's council is pretty strict on keeping allotments tidy, especially with things like brambles, nettles, weeds, encroaching on somebody else's patch. Can you approach your council to do something about your neighbours tatty patches?

Lasagne. A very easy cheat. Not moneysaving, but it uses up those dratted sheets.
Cook pasta in salted boiling water until cooked.
Microwave a couple of packets of nice meatballs in tomato sauce ( there's a decent one called 'Look what we found'). Mush it up a bit .
Heat a bottle of ready-made Bechamel.
Layer the ingredients. Put some grated cheese on the topmost layer of Bechamel and stick under the grill until golden and bubbling.
The only trick is to get everything hot and cooked at the same time for the layering.
  • I'm liking the lasagne suggestions. I used to make it but as someone else said, it's like making three meals in one - I'd rather have spag Bol or Mac cheese. I might use up my rather OOD packet.

When I Kondoed the baking cupboard I found a lot of dried fruit, nuts etc that really needed using up, and packet of suet (within date, luckily). Add a glut of Bramley apples and what have you got? Mincemeat! That's some Christmas stuff sorted- also used up the 'cooking' brandy.

Maman, I'm a committed liner of shelves. I have some plastic liner which I've had for years, think it was L-land but it's at least 12 years old, it's great as you can wash it. I use wallpaper lining on the others. Makes it such a doddle to clean cupboards out especially if you're moving.

:( Ours is supposed to be, also, but that's the theory, the practise is somewhat different. It annoys me because I do have a well-cultivated allotment but have to do extra work as a result of others' neglect. Oh well, that's life.

My excess fatigue over the weekend was explained later yestereve when I started the symptoms of a cold. Deep joy, have had little sleep and feel rubbish, but the workplace beckons (think that's where I caught it from) so will soldier on.

Don't know what delights I shall manage to minimalise later, but will be sure to find something. Keep up with the sterling work, troops.

want to clear the ironing pile today and get a pile of clothes that's been building in our room sorted.

:) I read something funny in a book, years ago, about downsizing/ thrift etc. A woman doing a clear-out had a large quantity of hardcore which she had no means of transporting to the tip, so she placed a free ad saying free hardcore if you come and collect, and her phone number.

This guy rang her to ask for directions to her home and the conversation made it clear he was intending to travel by bus. She asked him how much hardcore he intended to take away with him on the bus and was told a carrier bag or two. At that point the penny dropped and she had to explain to him it wasn't that kind of hardcore........... :D

lol GQ, mine wasn't that sort of hardcore either, think boxes of 70s floral bathroom tiles, chunks of broken slabs etc. I'm hoping I won't find any of that type of hardcore to kondo in mils garage (or Dh will be seeing his parents in a whole new light!)

I'm veg and I love veg lasagne but I find it such a faff as I'm usually only making it for myself. I've had lasgane sheets in my cupboard for ages so I might try your idea.

Hi again, mins game days 4 and 5...

    1. Ness handbag
    2. Ness brooch (both sold on eBay)
    3. Pair of old glasses, passed on to a lady I know who collects for a charity
    4. Pair of red converse trainers - another mistake, I don't wear red and was too impulsive when buying these. Charity shop for them.

1-4. 4x bracelets for charity shop - one silver and three beaded ones
    5. one pair of earrings in the bin - they were too tarnished to even donate. I use the bicarbonate of soda trick for my tarnished silver but they were even beyond that, and they certainly weren't my favourites, so happy to see them go.

I have followed this thread for a long time, and glad to finally contribute by taking part in mins game. I do think it's going to get quite difficult towards the end of the month!

The baby is sleeping, so I'm away to fold my pants xx
