It the dressing up box that has made me chuckle. Outfits for four year olds including a bat girl one. Youngest wears age ten stuff as she is so tall, so why do we even have it? Was stored in a box under dd1 bed! Can't decide wether to eBay or do a car boot with it all; I would donate it but not struggling for work at mo so every pennie counts. Dd1 is now up so we will being doing round two after breakfast!

Oh, and to start fantasising about burning the whole lot and running away to live in a tent somewhere.

It's made me realise that I could easily live in a small one bed flat if I was single and didn't have pets. Most of the stuff we have left belongs to them.:p

:D Heh, as a single pet-free woman living in a tiny flat, I can tell you it ain't as easy as all that.

OK, so I don't have to cope with an OH's stuff and kiddie clutter, but I do have to argue mentally with the various versions of Me, inside my own head, and have endless debates about the version of my life I want to lead.....;)

Had an accidental lie-in this morning - to almost 9.30 am, unheard of - and have spent morning pootling around doing a few random jobs, such as untangling the random yarn snarl which was part of the huge quantity of yarn gifted by pal a couple of months ago. It's the kind of job you have to be in the right mind for.

Done it, slung the too-short bits of yarn and wound the rest into balls for usage in the blanket I am knitting.

This minsgame malarkey is going to have me poking around in all sorts of nooks and crannies for bits of Stuff which have escaped previous culls. No stone will be left unturned in the quest for items. I suspect I will have to cop out by mid-month or sooner, but I shall do my best.

Tempted by Mins game but unless you count half a box of tissues (streaming cold given to me by DH as a my birthday present last week :( ) i will probably struggle due to work comitments next week.

Needed an easy day today so re-visited paperwork. Managed to bin some more very old receipts and, inspired by someone on here who also said they kept a few 'historic' docs showing their pay / bills from years ago like I do, I seperated them out and put those in a pretty file of their own. Makes the current stuff easier to access but keeps one neat A4 file of records as a little reminder of times passed.

Didn't count number of docs discarded but in excess of 31 :), will that do as credit for the last day of the month if I do join in??:rotfl:

re-did DH sock drawer yester. Well, tbh, don't remember doing it first time round.... All looked lovely. He came home and commented favourably on it, then said that a pair of undies were missing (my mind was racing ). I had just hung washing up so happy to re-assure him (and myself!!) that they were drying in the sun only metres away ;)

off to open a new box of tissues. Enjoy your evening everyone.

  • Hello :D
I have just caught up on the thread again.
Kondoing has been a bit slower this week. I have managed to put a large Sindy house from the 1980's on the bay, so hoping to get a few pennies for that, as well as a space :)

I have been inspired by Grey Queen, and with the long term objective in mind of having more time for hobbies & for me, I have made enquires today about getting an allotment & put my name down! They said I might get one towards the end of the year, or early next year. It would need a lot of work though, so I need to clear my house before then, and get organised! I may be looking for advice :)

:T Yayyy!!!! Another allotmenteer stepping up to the plate. Really hope your number comes up this year. And feel free to ask away, on open thread or via PM, whichever suits you best.

I've spent 3 hours on the allotment this afternoon and got everything tickety-boo for the anticipated bad weather to come. I won't be gardening for several days in any case, as work takes too much out of me, but wanted all the hatches battened down (site is very windy).

A passing plot holder expressed admiration of how well is looking which warmed the cockles of my heart. The sunflowers and the yellow marigolds dotted about the place really brighten things up.

:) Have knitted up most of the yarn I pulled out of the snarl I unravelled at lunchtime, so that's all to the good. It's amazing how a tiny ball of yarn can add 2-3 inches to a blanket strip.

Will be decluttering some more leftovers for supper (the original meal has never been found, lol) and using one of the small self-sown feral chard plants (which was in the way of another project) as a salad. Eating and decluttering at the same time, what's not to like?:rotfl:

I'm on target with my mins game. Just to recap:

Oct 1st: I BBF Sep 2014 pack of Re@adybrek, composted.

Oct 2nd: 2balls of wool posted to someone who had run out for her project.

Oct 3rd: 3 books + another (to cover the yarn I received in the swap!) 2 I'd read, and the other 2 I never will. In th CS bag.

Oct 4th: Took the easy way out and binned 4 game CDs which came with my old desk-top in 2000, in the unrecyclable stuff. 2 cardboard boxes of CDs still to go - all data/ blank from when I was working - think that will be worse than paperwork! :(

Been busy skeining knitting yarn today - quite physical with a niddy-noddy! :rotfl:

Don't worry, GQ, there are plenty of us on here who can help you with your mins numbers! :rotfl:

Off to get some tea now! Then a bit of knitting and an early night.

Thank you for all the welcome backs. Ive missed you all too!
I had myself a great summer staying with friends n family probably outstaying my welcome he he. Im allowed im getting on he he.
still I earned my keep baby/dog/house sitting . I even kondoed a few places too. I taught the art of plaky bag folding to all as well.
my friend said she cant stop doing that now and held court at work showing off her new skills she learned at my knee.
To the poster who is overwhelmed with stuff after pulling out all the stuff. It does go eventually. Its all worth it. To be honest its been with you all this time anyway, just artfully hidden.
Early in the thread I posted on how I emptied my entire tiny kitchen into my equally tiny dining room. I stood in the doorway and gasped at the amount of stuff. It was like a clip from one of those hoarder programmes. Nothing went back in the kitchen that I didnt need or use. Five potato peelers for goodness sake (I buy frozen mash now £1 from morrisons delish). I only use frozen veg that I like.
jamie oliver says its just as nutritious. Some are skanky but most are ok.
one of my sons has applied for an allotment hoevwe, there a big llong waiting list.
can someone explain the mins game I would like to join in. Even though my home is kondofied stuff does breech the homestead.
Righty strictly on soon then the Downton Abbey wedding. X
