I'm becoming a changed woman, thanks to KM. I still think she's a mad as a box of frogs about some things, though. I wouldn't make a very good Kultist in any conventional sense, I'd be the one in the corner with the sceptical expression.
Yesterday, I fetched the bag-of-carrier-bags which lives in the allotment shed, for use up there inc fetching mucky veg home, to samosa-fold. Found one of them had developed some weird vertical split, which may be the first stage to disintegration, so that was binned. Plus foudn another 3 which were a bit poorly and have lined the bin with those, so they'll be out of here in a couple of weeks. And they take up a fraction of the space they once did, wowser.
I also discovered that one of the clear rectangular plastic containers I use for batch-cooked foodstuffs had developed a split. These are the kind you can get 10 for £1 at Poondlandia and some people have takeaways with them. I'm on the last few from a bought set, and had some thoughts about this one.
OK, it's got a split in the body of it, so would leak (this being how I found the split) but I could use if for non-liquid storage like sewing bits or something? And the lid is perfectly good, I could keep the lid.
Then I remembered that of about the 3 of these containers still remaining, I have 3 spare lids. And that there are a couple of presently-empty plastic containers in the sewing cabinet, awaiting their turn. So this one can go in the recycling. Then I told myself that I could go to Poondlandia and buy another set of 10, as these are all dying on me. Then I thought I should wait until they're all gone, and start with a fresh new set of 10, so I won't have any surprising leaks in the fridge.
Then I thought, Heck, let them all die of natural causes and go into recycling, then wait a while and see if you actually miss this size of container, or whether you can use what you already have.
See, it's all Marie's fault (bless her eccentric little sox).Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

GreyQueen i laughed about the plastic containers as i had the same dilemma and was struggling to throw containers just because they had no lids or just had a split or i might find the lid that fits it somewhere in the house. Some of mine were Tupperware but if they didnt have lids i threw them out.0

On the subject of old photos.
We found several old photos in my late parents and in laws belongs, and the identity of the people in the photos was long lost.
I wasn't comfortable in just 'throwing people away', so we sold the photos on eBay.
There is quite a market for old photos, so anyone wanting to remove them from their house could consider eBay or charity shops to help with this.Early retired - 18th December 2014

Your post made me chuckle greyqueen. Strange the effect one little book has had on us all.
I'm out with friends today so I don't think I'm going to get anything done on the konmarie front. I really need to wash my floors as well. I've been so busy with the magic of tidying there hasn't been much cleaning going on!!0 -
Last year I re-read my beloved Chalet School books which I started collecting when I was about 10, I can remember when I got the first and how I loved it - I am keeping them in case I ever have a grand-daughter. I'm not sentimental about many things but I now realise that I used to escape into my booksbecause I didn't have a happy childhood and the books were my friends.[/QUOTE]
I so get that
I loved books too especially Hiedi and what katy
did, but I liked writing stories more
the thrill of the teacher reading my stories out to class was amazing.
My own kids remember me making up stories for them too they have said
often I should have written them down.
I would have but my bad grammar and spelling has always put me off. Still does. Even on here I'm constantly editing.
I used to think that everyone in my Bunty magazine (that I
devoured every week) was real, especially the four Marys. They went to
boarding school, were in a pony club, had fathers who went to work in a pinstrip suit and bowler hat and carried a brief case. Whilst having spiffing adventures after spending pocket money in the tuck shop.
Whilst my Da went to work in a flat cap and carried his sandwiches in a bait bag!!! My Dad was real though.
So athough im not sentimental about much myself
I do understand that things evoke strong memories good or bad.
edit: I have been reading Jane Austen again one of my favourite authors”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)
Put on some lipstick
and pull yourself together”

Grr, I posted my chest of drawers last week. Tackled the top drawer and fixed the bottom which had fallen out.
Went to do drawer 2 today but, the bottom of drawer 1 fell out again and it fell off the runners so I think it is a dead chest of drawers :-(. So I might need to bite the bullet and get a new one.0 -
Sorry can't do links but you can get drawer fixing kits onAmazon, about £7, plus you can aLso get replacement runners. They look pretty easy to do.0

I'm becoming a changed woman, thanks to KM..
that is me too, ever since I just curiously dipped into this thread and it made me re-evaluate my possessions ie things. I don`t go the whole KM hog but definitely a bit at a time and using whatever facilities I have for storage. I have the book on kindle but don`t dare read it yet, not until my shoulder stops the aches because I am a mind over matter person and I have to listen to the bit of me that is protesting, at least for a while longer
Just 3 small things today, including throwing out some veggie mags that I was keeping, in case I want to make the recipes. They are 3 years old now and I have not looked at them since I stopped the sub, two years ago
I have a tonne of hobby stuff, all well used and loved, crafty me is teaching a 6 year old gd to spin. I am keeping a wheel for her until her birthday in summer. Lol when that goes then I will be able to supply her with lots of spinning fluff and a weaving kit etc, so creating some nice space in my craft room. I don`t know when that will be Kondo`d, if ever
We have been visiting the cs on a regular basis since christmas, I have a handy shopping trolley that I fill as I clear and as soon as it overflows then we make the 20 mile round trip. It is overflowing already and we only went 6 days ago
Keep the good work going, you happy optimistic people, I love reading your thread :T0
