I now have a grand total of three bras including a sports bra!!!! So good to get rid of ones that were just never worn. And thanks for the links to charities that will take them. I know someone near me was collecting them for a women's project in Somalia I think. The women there, some widows with children, had no means of support, so they would get our discarded bras and sell them as a business. Gave them a way to support themselves. I have lost touch with the lady who collected them, so it's good to have a chance to pass them on to a good cause.
I have no concept of what it is like to have a drawer full of matching bras and knickers!! Possibly I am the wrong shape, but I have never felt the need! Flip, who am I kidding?? I'm definitely the wrong shape!
Off to google how to samosa plastic bags!Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...:D:D

1. A dolls house which was made by my dad. It was given away by my mother to my cousins as soon as she felt I was too old for it. I remember visiting my cousins and seeing some of the contents in their toy box whereas I never separated them. I never saw the dolls house again - I always wanted to ask my aunt what happened to it, but I think the answer would make me sad so I never have. I since have had two daughters who would have loved to have played with it.
My father died when I was 8 - I have nothing else that he made. It was unique and made out of a barrel. I have no photos of it.

Gosh did this post strike a huge chord with me. When we were decluttering the house prior to moving we were up in the loft and came across my dolls cot which my dad had made in the early 1970's and painted it pink. It had been up there under the eaves and I was overjoyed to see it. I could not nor would I part with it. My late mum kept one of my huge dolls as well. She had it on her rocking chair in the bedroom and each summer would take the clothes off it and wash them. Allot of my childhood stuff went out, when I was 14/15 years old but those two things were kept back. I will keep them as well now as I understand the value and importance of them and that value has nothing to do with money either.
I have a shoe problem but not on Imelda Marcos scales! Some shoes I have not worn in several years! My boots I keep in the original boxes and I look after all of my stuff.
I have a Welsh dresser full of Emma Bridgewater but it brings me joy, I look at it every single day I use that dresser all the time and although it is time consuming keeping it clean I derive so much pleasure from it. I still have my mum and dads wedding tea service set which this year will be 53 years old and I have no intention of parting with it. The Welsh dresser could never be parted with, my late grandmother was Welsh and as a little girl I used to love playing with my dolls in front of her huge dresser. That room was so warm and cosy and safe. Perhaps tied up in my own dresser is a sense of that cosiness and safety, but it brings me joy!Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money:beer:

Wow, 3 bras, well done! I do have a lot of matching bras and knickers but what I have discovered in kondo-ing my undies today is that I hardly wore the matching knickers for some pairs as they were too ridiculous or uncomfortable. Thats why there were so many orphans, they have outlived their bras. The knickers that brought me most joy were the plain old M&S ones. I will definitely think twice when buying new sets now.0 -

This afternoon I've been going through my fabric stash. My aim is to have it all neatly folded and stacked vertically so I can see what I've got and maybe actually do some sewing.weaving through the chaos...0

Well,
I looked at hand bags today. I am not a very bag person, but I have a few, mainly because I rarely replace, just add.
Not today.
The first one was easy, I've been thinking for a while it wasn't really something I loved any more.
The second one was harder....("really,? Are you sure you're not getting carried away, you've had this a long time, and it might be useful again?")
Then it was easy peasy, and I found a lot were just not bringing me joy.
Amongst them I found the bag I took on my second date with my husband. I know this because my husband, ( who was helping by going through them for receipts ; he loves receipts- or any valuables) found the receipt for the drinks we went for. He then had to be convinced to let the bag and receipt go, lol, but I'm not in love with it at all, I have exactly what I want to keep from that date.
I hope it brings some one else pleasure and luck in the future, or at least gets other outings.0 -
The reasons I won't go paperless: if my computer dies and takes all my important stuff with it; I am unlikely to be able to buy another; and I won't be driving a 20 mile round trip, to check my bills at a library (if there still are libraries!) :eek:Needs, NOT wants!

Having kondoed most of my clothes and shoes, I have emptied a spare wardrobe in my boxroom (soon to be craft room), and moved my hanging fabric storage thingies, ready for my Yarn Stash! :TNeeds, NOT wants!

omg, I knew I had one bag of clothes in the loft that i needed to bring down for doing 'tops'. It turned out there were actually 4 big bin bags full of clothes
Im properly horrified about the amount of waste (and also the prospect of sorting them). I dont even remember putting the other 3 up there. I'm angry with myself that I have spent far too much money on rubbish clothes. If I had spent the same amount of money on the number of clothes I actually wear I could be shopping in all the shops that I think are too expensive for me. I'd far rather have one lovely White Stuff top than 5 cheap ones from asda. I'm going to be letting these ones go by thanking them for making me realise I am an idiot! :mad:0 -
The whole "out of sight, out of mind" thing is terrifying isn't it? This process has helped me realise most of my previous decluttering was just hiding things from view.weaving through the chaos...0
