    Morning - just! :D

I don't expect to be doing any kondoing  between noon today and noon Monday... Find My Past have given me a weekend of free access to all their genealogy records! :j

I shall catch up with the posts on here, and all your hard work, when I hit brickwalls in the family tree! If I start suffering from screen-blindness, or reach the point of losing the will to live, I might indulge in some discarding, and retrurn here early! :rotfl:

    Have a joyful weekend!

I have been going through my enormous plastic bag stash. Bags of bags and boxes of bags and suitcases of bags in every room of the house.

I knew that I had some that were at least 6 years old, but not quite how old. As I rootled away there was the inevitable snowdrift of the newbie biodegradable jobbies. And then the oldies started to appear. A T*sco charity appeal bag dated 2005. A dress shop that closed before I was married. Dear gods!!!

The greatest sadness for me was not my bag hoarding, but the fact all the older bags were still perfect, no degradation at all. No wonder our planet is covered in horrific trash. It made me want to weep.

:) Well, I have decluttered several minor tasks and still have two gas engineers in my hall (the original one and a passing one hiding from the rain). I have the kettle on and have instructed second engineer he is to stay, lie in front of the door and stop the rain coming in. We're having some big laffs here today, lotsa tea and the occasional biscuits.:rotfl:

    Evening All !

Some weeks ago I was bemoaning the fact that even though I had Kondo-folded my fleeces and warm cardies etc into a drawer I was not happy with how they were. I thought I might have to move stuff round to fit them in elsewhere.

well, yesterday, it being a bit autumnal an' all, I opened the draw, took out the very fleece I wanted in a swift, even deft, movement. No rooting, no chucking stuff to one side and sighing in despair that the drawer was bulging to excess. No, just a quick 'open, select, close' manoeuvre. :T

How could I ever have doubted our glorious leader??

    Good morning Konverts

I have so much to do! Still overwhelmed & RL still chucking distractions at me.
Yesterday I had 2 bags (1 clothes & 1 komono) to take to the CS. The plan was to load them on the buggy and take a Little One (LO) to get some fruit & bread at the same time. LO had other ideas! She fell asleep on the sofa at 9.30 & woke up at lunchtime!! I needed to feed her then fetch some others from school which finishes at 1.30 on a Friday. Oh well.
I did manage to make a request for a call back from a company that are being a bit elusive - and they called back (asked for a quote! They always call them back). They did some work on my roof, which is guaranteed for 25 years (10 years ago), but they are trying to wriggle out of it now that I have a problem! My problem is that when it rains, it pours through my bedroom ceiling!!! It is difficult to sleep with constant dripping! (Impossible in my case!). They have agreed to send someone to look at it when they are next in the area - I told them I will be chasing them up! I will take them to court if I need to. This whole situation is very stressful, and I feel sick when it rains :(

I need to get DH to clear the loft - it has been on his to do list for years! I can't get up there. So why did he spend a large part of last weekend faffing about downloading album covers so that he can have a pretty picture when his music plays!!? Grrrr!

My mum has requested my company today as she is visiting Towie Town to order a chair, or something. I can't really say no, but I have so much to do!
I need to get up first, so that is my first job. I think I will take the chazzer bags with me and let another town have my [STRIKE]rubbish[/STRIKE] treasure!
  • I've just got back from a holiday in Cornwall, bag neatly packed in the KM style meaning I got loads more in that I usually do.
Lifted the clothes out and placed them lovingly in the drawers in our cottage.
Never once was I unable to find the item I wanted.
On our last day, I washed and tumbled my dirty clothes, refolded them lovingly (it gets quicker, the more you do it) and repacked my bag to come home.

Now when we go away on holiday Number 2 this Friday, I don't have to pack because it's already done.

    Cheers MK xxx

DH & friend were supposed to be helping another friend with his trike - friend phoned to say he was broken down so DH & Friend No1 have gone to get him sorted.
Soooooo - no DH asking/making teas & coffees so using the uninterrupted time :)
    So far
1 kitchen cupboard cleared out and washed and the following disposed of:
    1 shredded wheat (??)
Sample packet of crispy Muesli dated '98 :eek:
    Unopened Sultana Bran 2011
    1 soup flask
    1 small flask
2 glass bottles (kept for milk on picnics?)
    1 plastic bottle
    I tin cake tin
Cupboard re-arranged and now much tidier
Cleaned out the cutlery drawer - where do all the 'bits' come from?
    Washed all the cupboards down.
When I visited the local tip for a drawer for my freezer I found a beauty - snag is it doesn't fit :) So I washed it out and took it down to the greenhouse to stand all my various feeds & sprays in - nice and tidy and all together.
While I was down there I sorted out 6 pottery plant pots that I've never used, washed them and they will be offered to the florist first and then to the CS.
I've also found an old unused make up bag, a promotional travel clock/radio and a piece of 'art' pottery I was given but never liked.
Sounds a lot but hasn't made a big dent but satisfied that there's more going out than coming in.
Sun's coming round the front of the house so now I'm going to pot up the geraniums to hopefully save for next year

Have a good day all and thank you so much for all the inspiration x

ps: The old fridges & freezers at the tip have some lovely salad drawers etc that can be repurposed - and free!!
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

So I just had charity collectors call at the door, despite my prominently displayed "no callers" sign. First thought was I wish Mav was round so I could send her to answer. :rotfl:

They did apologise and (literally) run away when I pointed to the sign though.

Oh joy! I can see my spare bed at last!!!:D

All craft bits are sorted, rubbish binned, a couple of bags for CS and everything rehomed.

I now have one empty plastic crate, two small plastic baskets and a wicker basket. I've washed the plastic ones and I'll keep them for the time being at least.

As I type, I now realise I'll be able to put all the photos in one home. Sorting photos is another winter job and I've started a list for that.

I've re-used two sewing baskets (vintage, inherited) as I don't need them for purpose intended. I've used one for tights with life still in them and one for new packs. They fit well on shelves inside wardrobe and will give me joy when I open the door.
