Well, it's off! I have been trying to get a wheel of a bike that was rusted on. I have been patient with the oil doing it's magic. I can now take the bike to the tip. It's been well over two years since this needed doing! The wheel is now permanently attached to the pipe outside and will now be a trellis. If the weather holds I will do this later today.
Been trying to catch up on the washing and there are a few of dd2 bits to kondoe once dry. I have also been doing what I call my 'lazy' tidy up day. This is I tidy up and when if I find paperwork that needs doing I stop and do it there and then. Things like adding postal details to eBay, doing the tesco review thingy for 25 points. The paperwork can then be shredded and file straight away!
Off the tip now this second byeeee!Don’t put it down - put it away!

Morning everyone
Not sure what to do today now that the study is done (apart from OH's clothes that are in there). I was going to go for a browse around the CS' but I'm not really a fan of shopping alone! Think I might bake a cake and then get started on organising my shoes and jumpers
Come round to my house and tell me what to do with the corner kitchen cupboard others are also strugging with and the Harry Potter Cupboard then I'll take you shopping when I get home from work and we can eat your cakeLess stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!0 -
Y'know, looking at the silly-small accomodations being advertised for rent, it occurs to me that owners of understair cupboards are missing out on a money-making opportunity.
People, you need a lodger - possibly a petite yogini with no claustophobia issues. Get a sleeping bag in that cupboard, market that space correctly on t'interwebs and stand back for the stampede of lodgers heading your way.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

You could advertise it as the Harry Potter experience...
Was at the parental home last week when Mum remarked that the potholder and also the oven gloves were both starting to let the heat through to the hands. I went into her linen cupboard and brought down an unused example of each, as seen during a tidy-out I did for her a few months ago. The old no-longer-heatproof ones are being washed and will go for textile recycling.
A couple of days ago, she mentioned that she was going to buy some new flannels and I told her about the new ones she'd already bought and put away in the same cupboard (I'd seen them again when fetching the potholder). She was as pleased as punch to retrieve them, having completely forgotten their existance.
This isn't a big cupboard, folks, it's about 2 ft wide and 2 ft deep, but it's so easy to lose track of what you own. She was as pleased as if I'd given her the items, rather than just reminded her of where she'd stashed them.:rotfl:
Haven't done much other than go to work and run a few errands today. Am utterly exhausted and am trying to muster the ooomph to cook a proper meal, rather than snack. But it's an uphill task.
Onwards! Tomorrow is another day (Friday, if memory serves).Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Haha Wort Glad you cleared that one up
My fly poo is also where the cobwebs lurk so you could be right.I dont mind spiders they are welcome in small numbers
All the wood cut up and I filled up 47 wheelbarrows of it and took it down to the woodstore  and stacked it. DH got home with a bit left to do and he did 9 loads so 56 loads stacked and ready to be kondoed on the fireNo way am I going to the gym tonight as I am knackered from doing that lot
Very joyful its all done and dusted and its another big job out of the way.
The Harry Potter cupboard tour sounds an excellent idea for those of you with stairs

Mav - Well done on the NYDJ bargain. I have a pair (also second hand but don't quite fit at the moment - must kondo a few pounds!) and they are lovely.
Charity bag through the door today had the magic works "bric a brac" on it. Promptly filled up with odd bits that were stashed in my Harry Potter Experience room ( :rotfl: ) including the remaining mugs from DH's collection (he's now down to 12 - for just him!) and sitting waiting to go out on collection day.
I kondoed my job. It had become a joy suck, and who needs that?! Currently in talks with a MUCH more joyful company, fingers crossed for good news soon.0 -
I have been admiring my drawers
It's just lovely to open them, see stuff just neatly stacked and not crammed.
I have been in a fairly foul mood all day and would also like to Kondo the job - and am taking some baby steps towards it. Someone said you have to work to pay the bills, so I am looking to lower the bills. Learning to eat lentils, in the spirit of Diogenes (thanks GQ)
So Min's game was a cheat tonight - 2 hair mousses that I was using up cos I had them, not cos i liked what they did to my hair (why 2? and why were both half full?); a cookbook donated to the chazzer bag, and 7 pencilsOh and a pair of DS boxers cut up for rags - they are age 11 - 12 and he is 16  I did wash them first :rotfl:
I put laundry away and enjoyed it, cos everything had a home - and a quick glimpse at the toiletries drawer showed me that we need conditioner.
loving itI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Realised today that it's six months since I began the Kondo journey. I really thought I'd be finished by now (I remember finishing the underwear drawer and naively thinking 'this isn't going to take long' :rotfl:) and I could have finished by now, but RL got in the way and that's what happens.
I still have quite a lot of komono left, including some disappointing pockets of stuff in rooms that are otherwise finished, and it's mainly where I have not focused on categories, and getting everything together In one place. A really big effort would see most of it cleared, and I will do it, I'm sure. However today I'm celebrating the triumphs - see my post above about the plumber calling in. Today an electrical item fused; I knew where the toolbox was, the screwdrivers were all inside and the spare fuses were in the lid. My kitchen cupboards are tidy, my sheets are neatly stacked in the airing cupboard and filing has never been so easy.
Thank you to everyone who's inspired, sympathised and accompanied me on here, I couldn't do it without this thread. I think a finish by Christmas is possible!Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0 -

Thanks! :j
I was wondering how long it should take as someone said it would only take one day. I was worrying how long it was taking me, I started last week. :rotfl:
