On the 'worry' topic, my dearly departed Nan gave me a little plaque in the years when I stayed with her. It said:
"Today is the tomorrow that you worried about yesterday."
Always thought it provided a nice perspective, can still remember the words 25 years later.0 -
Thanks Mrs Moneypenny, it looks like I'm going to have to chip away at him slowly then! He did get on-board with the bathroom changes though, so that is somewhat encouraging!Remember Occam's Razor - the simplest explanation is usually the right one.

I can't say my DH has embraced MK as much as I have but it is rubbing off.
Today we've replaced the bits in the sitting room after re-decorating. He has kondoed lots of videos and CDs unasked. It didn't show as we have a very joyful oak chest that holds them but at least drawers not so full now and he's cut down on some of his pictures and maps on the walls.
Everything that's gone back into that room is now joyful (and sparkling clean!:D) with the exception of lampshades which I'll replace when I have time to look around. The other thing is side tables. There are 5: as set of 3 and 2 others. The set doesn't spark joy but I get great pleasure from the soft glow of table lamps and to have table lamps you need tables! I really am fed up with these traditional ones with barley sugar legs, I don't like the 'ethnic' heavy ones in the shops now so not sure what I could replace them with.
TQ, if your DH would part with some clothes from his wardrobe and either discard them or store things that aren't worn often somewhere else at least it would keep the crush down. It'd be a start maybe??0 -
Maman, there is something about storage containers that I've read, can't remember if it was in the book or not - she's keen on using boxes and so on that you'd otherwise discard so I don't think they have to spark joy in themselves. Personally however, I know some things will irritate me - not if I can't see them, but if something is visible it would bug me, so I've covered a couple of boxes in spare wallpaper.
And no, I don't empty my handbag out. I probably should do it once a week or so but ...Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0 -
Funny the T-Shirts I told you I had 13 of all the same in different colours which I kondoed had 'Dont worry be happy' on with a smiling think aceed (acid) face :rotfl:But I thought they were not me anymore and didnt bring me joy so they went
With the tags on :rotfl:So I dont think they were me ever
I have kondoed another binbag out of the wardrobe and drawers today :rotfl:Jumpers that can go as I have my nice ones now. A hoody I wear to the gym that is to short and wide for me :rotfl:Gone. Winter tights that have seen better days gone.
I have sorted my gym leggings as I got that massive bundle for a very small price. Keep six pairs in the drawers and packed up the rest in a storage box which will go in the loft and I will replace the ones I am using when needed
No Ironing doneWalked the dog and then met a friend for a coffee at a cafe in Sheringham
Bet Mrs MP can guess which one. Its right on the front and is very quirky
I washed one of my Cashmere jumpers today as I have been wearing it when ever I can. Handwashed as recommended. Put a towel on the garden table and laid it flat all good so far. Went out with the dog came home and the Witch of Eastwick (one of my wayward chickens) Was laying on it sunbathing :eek:She had also trecked across it with muddy feet where she had been scratching up my herbs  So chucked her off and had to wash it again !
No joy given but to be honest I did find it funny. I might get her to do me a painting :rotfl:next

Evening all.
I kondo'd a late afternoon/ early evening due to a spontaneous invitation from a pal to go to a pick-your-own [STRIKE]nose[/STRIKE] oops, fruit farm. Which we did and I now have luverly rasps, strawbs and redcurrants plus we saw a double rainbow, how joyous.:j
maman, I think I remember a bit in the book where Marie had a client who was very decluttered but still feeling restless and stressy; the problem was a storage cupboard full of brightly lettered fruit type boxes with shouty writing on them, which were right in the client's face whenever she opened the door. It was better when they were switched out for something calmer.
I tend to prefer things in muted, natural shades with either no pattern or a subtle pattern. I have a bit of a thing for baskets, particularly red willow baskets, but restrain myself by keeping to a number, size and shape of ones in use, rather than just any random ones which catch my eye. Very small home, can't have unitaskers here.
Smiling at the memory of my Grandma, who used to chide my Mum when she was a young girl about worrying. She'd tell her to cross that bridge when you come to it.
My personal take is to twist that to I'll dynamite that bridge when I come to it. It sets people on their back foot for a couple of seconds whilst they process the meaning, then they laugh uproariously.:p
Wore a top at work today for the second time in a couple of weeks and realised that it's too short in the body for me and I spent hours being annoyed by it, and tugging it down. Will launder and donate, life's too short for annoying clothes. Next!Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I wore a new dress to work yesterday and got many compliments on it. Consequence: the first three items I tried on this morning went straight into the chazzer bag, because they did not spark as much joy, even though until last week they 'did/were good-enough'. I now have 4 large bags in the back of my car. They have been in the attic for a few months, where I collect chazzer items, to prevent dh and dds retrieving everything. The bags seemed to be like a black cloud slowly decending through the attic's floorboards....
Last Sunday we returned from vacation, dds had been away from home for 5 weeks, I joined them after their second week, and dh joined us the last week. Packing logistics were a nightmare. Usually, I unpack everything within one hour of getting home, as I hate a messy homecoming. This time, I unpacked one suitcase per evening, with dds running around and dh watching telly... I really h*te it when he does that, because I then think 's0d it, if you're not doing anything, I'm not doing anything either!' And that makes no-one any better off.
Anyway, today at work I could not concentrate and went home 'sick', and spent the afternoon clearing and cleaning the top floor. I feel better now. (Don't worry about my working hours, I regularly have to work unpaid overtime and can recuperate when work allows.) Morning Konverts :DSiebrie Glad the 4 big Black clouds are in your car and out of your house. It makes you feel so much better when you know they are out of your life:D So well done and so glad you wore your new dress and didnt keep it for 'Sunday'
I dropped off thank you card and bottle of wine to the man (whos name is Colin) yesterday he wasnt in so couldnt ask about the flagsI have invited him to our next fund raiser (which is a race night) So I hope he comes
I will find out about the flags one day
I am going to carry on sorting clothes today as I have another big bag ready to go to chazzer and it has a bit of space in it so will try and cram it full;)
I think the rest of the fete clothes I have here I will have to bite the bullet and stick them on Eb*y  As I would like to raise as much as I can for them and cant find any takers locally. I have been given 100 free listings so will maybe do a bit of that today. Brand new m&s jackets etc.
So lets see how it goes. My son is coming up at some point I never know when he is coming he just arrives whenever  So I never change my plans anymore and he just has to fit in with mine :rotfl:No doubt he will have booked golf somewhere as we have some fab courses around here. But it brings him very much joy so I am happy as well
I know a lot of you dont iron and I dont blame you. But sometimes I enjoy the misery :rotfl:of ironing. If that makes sense. Maybe I feel like a mindful wife and I dont feel like that often.:o But I do like nice pressed clothes and beddingNothing better than fresh ironed bedding it brings me joy and if I could be bothered to change the bed every day that would be sheer bliss
and so joyful every night
If I ever won the lottery I would get someone in to do that everyday and would pay any price :rotfl:
