I've got mountains of paperwork and most of it will be going, but it is all over the house.;)

Talking of photographs: I have been very disappointed with how many hundreds of photos that digital camers/phones have given rise to.

I don't have many - most were taken before the Technological Revolution, when it was quite an expensive past-time, so mostly carried out on holidays or special occasions.

Very few of mine will be kondoed, because duff ones were ditched at the time.

Does anyone else think that most of these hundreds of photos taken nowadays are just clutter, and their sheer quantity de-values photographic records?

Becky 2: I know it sounds simplistic, but as mav has said, you just refuse to think about anything stressful. I know you might not believe it right now, but it really is that simple. But it does take practise, because we have got into a habit, which brings an automatic reaction.

It took me a year of making a conscious effort, every time a particular thing happened, to change my reaction to it. Sometimes I succeeded. Then, I was succeeding more often . Now I just do it immediately. And not only in those particular circumstances - I now behave coolly and calmly in any situation.

If you think back over your life, I'm sure you will recall at least one occasion, when you took control of your feelings in a very stressful situation. Maybe someone had an accident, or there was some kind of emergency? In those situations, we can 'go to pieces' or we can take charge and do the right things.

At such times, I noticed that I become icy cool and calm - no emotions at all - just intensely focused on the matter in hand. That is what I aimed to capture, as I trained myself.

Now, if anything starts my heart thumping, I breathe slowly, and do something that will distract my thoughts. This reaction has become so automatic now, that I usually don't even notice it. That is what I mean by 'turning off stress'.

It works, I've proved it. And in my case, staying cool has similarly affected the other person involved, too. It is a powerful skill to learn. I hope that helps.

my eldest daughter who owns most of the baby stuff up there has said I can get rid of everything as she doesn't want any of it, suggested women's refuge but I'm not sure they'd want baby stuff? I've Moses baskets, toys, high chairs etc?

No idea where you are in the UK, but maybe look for a local baby bank type project? My local one is Gloucestershire Bundles and helps families in crisis - refugees, house fires without insurance, benefit gaps, parents with learning difficulties, domestic abuse victims, young parents etc. From toiletries (for adults and babies/ children) and nappies to moses baskets, cots, prams, high chairs, stairgates, sterilisers, bedding, maternity clothes, nursing bras, baby & children's clothes (esp warm clothes like coats and dressing gowns), toys and books - and more! They are springing up all over the country so there may well be one near you :) (they operate in a vaguely similar fashion to food banks in that a referral from an organisation or professional (eg: social worker, midwife, family worker - even the fire brigade) is needed to obtain help. Sadly the need for them is ever-growing :(

Juliebunny, good luck with the flexible working request. Managers dealing with such things can be fickle, as you know. My DH applied to reduce his hours, having seen every post-maternity returner doing the same (not that he had been on mat leave!). He was turned down. He got the last laugh though, he Kondo'd the job :D:D

I wore some 'not just for Sunday best' clothes to the office today in honour of that gentleman and his wife that Mav told us about - a joyous paisley patterned skirt - blues, a bit of lilac and some dark pink, white and some grey with black piping on the panels and my favourite baby blue shoes that I love! For clarity, I wore a top as well (plain, in a magenta colour - just asked DH what colour it is an that's what he said :) - obviously the dark pink in the skirt is actually magenta ;) ).

Too much RL to deal with for the next few days, hope to do more Kondoing at the weekend, will be planning stuff while at work though ! (does that count as a day

Absolutely agree. I have a very dear friend who nonetheless drives us mad as she's photographing/videoing all the time, and someone once pointed out that she never actually sees anything, she's always viewing it through the camera/phone/iPad. I have got literally thousands of photos since I first got a digital camera - they take up loads of space, I seldom print any and I have no idea why I've taken some of them! About three years ago I just decided to stop taking pics unless it's a really special occasion. And don't get me started on selfies :rotfl:

VJs mum and iTwin I am so gutted I couldnt share your 'date' :rotfl:I would love to meet every konvert on here. What a wonderful sight we would all be dressed in our 'not Sunday best' ;) Dont think 5 hours would be enough time.5 days would be better.:D Glad you had a wonderful and Joyful time :)

Becky Glad what I said made sense as it really is that easy:) Deal with it when you have to deal with it. Dont even think about it and if you do hear the same words in your head as I do 'Does it really matter' and keep saying it ;) It works I promise.

MMF007 I love it ;) Sounds a lovely joyful outfit. Well done for that my Man would Im sure be so pleased to hear that ;)

I had my Bright Orange skinnys on today.Loads of cars stopped to let me cross the road I did wonder if they thought the traffic lights were Amber :rotfl:But no lights just my jeans.I did feel really joyful wearing them. If people looked at me I never noticed as I was just enjoying myself;)

Silly old fool is digging himself a bit of a hole at the moment and would really drive me mad and stress me out if I let him but I dont :D I dont care what he does let him live in his strange little nasty world at least I am not there with him :rotfl:Think he is a bit bemused at my change as I would normally try and help and ask how he is and stuff but I dont now.

When I spilt up with my first husband.I asked him to leave and after loads of real problems and hassle. He left and as he was walking down the path I watched out of the window and I felt this weight lift off my shoulders it was like the bricks that were balanced there had been lifted off me.It was the most wonderful feeling which I have never felt since.

and as I watched I vowed with myself I would never ever spend time with anyone I didnt want too ever again. And too a point I never have but I think with this one I have taken it to a new level ;) I am going to stay on that level above all the idiots and never let it bother me again :rotfl:I am joyful and happy and I am damn well going to stay that way ;)

:rotfl::rotfl:Or strange middle age women you meet on the internet hope you reminded him of that one :rotfl:
I cant believe the kids are going back to school where on earth does the time go :( Think ours around here are back next week its flown by.

Today I will be PT this morning missed last week so it will be harder than normal no doubt ;)

Then home and I really need to do the ironing  I still must have too many clothes as the ironing just builds up so quickly. But I do think its as I am wearing more joyful clothes now and they need more care.Unlike the scruff slobbing about type of joggers and Tees :D Which I am trying to avoid since Kondoing ;)

I am also going to drag everything back out of my drawers again today as clothes are feeling a little squashed in there :o Maybe the new Cashmere has made a difference. So looks like more needs to go :o The spare drawers are now full again so I need to sort this out as it leaves that nagging feeling being drawn to clothes again :rotfl:Which had gone since the colour lady was here.

So better get on with it as its not going to get its self done ;) Mores the pitty :(

Have a lovely day everyone and wear your Not Sunday best if you can ;)

Well, how woo is this? I dreamt last night that I met iQueen!!

We went for tea at the Ritz! You should have seen us all dolled up for cucumber sarnies with the crusts cut off!:rotfl:

Ended up at mine for proper tea and cake though, as the portions as the Ritz were miserly!

I gave up ironing years ago. Turn the spin speed down and put out of the wash straight onto one of my lovely new skinny velvet hangers . If it still looks like it needs ironing it goes in the chazza bag but generally now I'm pretty good at judging what needs ironing pre purchase so just don't buy it.
I know people who leave their washing in the machine for hours/overnight, then move to an ever increasing ironing mountain and then go shopping for new stuff cos they can't find anything or the kids have grown out of it by the time they get to it!!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!
